Burberry Primrose Hill Pink Lipstick ($30.00 for 0.13 oz.) is a brightened warm pink that borders on pink-coral. Make Up For Ever Folk is slightly more coral. MAC Watch Me Simmer is brighter, slightly less pink. NYX Haute Melon is a bit more orange but has a similar look. Guerlain Nahema is much more coral. MAC Ultra Darling is slightly redder.  This kind of shade is flattering on both warmer and cooler skin tones, because it doesn’t have a lot of orange or coral in it.

Burberry’s Lip Cover formula is supposed to be hydrating, yield full color coverage, and feel lightweight against the lip.  It’s lovely during application–soft, smooth, which enables it to glide on effortlessly without pulling or tugging at the lips.  It also is able to deliver nearly opaque color coverage in a single pass; you don’t have to go back and forth with this shade.  The creamy consistency is very lightweight, though, and it gives the finish a luminous quality that makes lips look fuller.  I love how hydrating the formula is–my lips always feel good even after this has worn off four hours or so later.

Burberry Heather Rose Lip Cover Lipstick ($30.00 for 0.13 oz.) is a natural shade of rosy brown with peach shimmer. This is a beautiful shade for everyday wear, and it also pairs well with a more dramatic eye (especially if you need some warmth). MAC Sweet Ever After is a bit similar but less pink. Chanel Delicieuse is more orange. Maybelline Caramel Kiss is less peach and more frosted.

The color coverage is opaque, and Burberry’s Lip Cover is a very creamy, lightweight formula that is really comfortable to wear. It’s hydrating enough to leave lips feeling soft after wear, and Heather Rose wore for four hours. I like how easily it glides on while depositing even color in a single pass. Burberry has a few extra touches I also appreciate in their product, which are the imprinted design on the actual lipstick itself as well as the magnetic case (so the top slides into place).  Burberry also gives you more lipstick than most brands at 0.13 oz. (the average is 0.10 to 0.12 oz.).

Burberry Ruby (18) Lipstick ($30.00 for 0.13 oz.) is a gorgeous shade of bright, lush red with a faint blue-base but not at all too cool for warmer skin tones to wear.  A few weeks ago, when I reviewed Burberry’s Russet Blush, I had so many of you ask me about the lip color–in case you missed it, Ruby was it!

It’s a nearly opaque shade that packs lots of color without feeling heavy or slick on lips.  It’s lightweight in its feel, satiny in its texture.  The application is even and smooth and doesn’t require a lot of layering (just one or two passes).  There’s a soft sheen but not really a shimmer to it.  It does have a floral scent, which is noticeable in the tube but not when I wore it.

Burberry Blush (09) Lipstick ($30.00 for 0.13 oz.) is a pretty-in-pink touched by coral with very subtle gold micro-shimmer and mostly opaque color coverage.   It has a lovely creamy texture and a slightly glossy look. I find Burberry’s formula fairling moisturizing and long-wearing–about four hours with this shade–and comfortable to wear.

I think this is an incredibly flattering shade–it’s not too warm or cool, it’s just that right shade that will work for a variety of skin tones.   On those with pinker lips, it will turn a beautiful shade of rose, and on my lips, that hint of coral seems to strengthen than when just swatched on the skin.  The lipstick is rose-scented, though, so those with sensitive sniffers beware! I don’t really sense any taste, though.

RECOMMENDATION: Burberry’s new lipsticks are a nice option for those with drier or more needy lips, because the formula wears well without drying lips out.  This particular shade will complement a lot of skin tones because of its more neutral undertones.

Burberry Union Red (17) Lipstick ($30.00 for 0.13 oz.) is an orange-based red lipstick with a subtle shine and nearly imperceptible shimmer.  It’s opaque in just one layer, and it wears comfortably on lips, as it feels lightweight and smooth.  With these deeper red shades from Burberry, I get about four hours of wear and then some staining for another hour or two.   It is scented with a rose-ish kind of scent that doesn’t bother me (nor does it linger on lips, just in the tube), but those with more sensitive noses may want to try before they buy.

The lipstick is embellished with the brand’s check pattern, and the packaging itself is a gunmetal square with a magnetic enclosure.  When you slip the case back on, it automatically twists into place and clicks together (very fun to play around with!).  You get a good amount (lipsticks average around 0.12 oz.), and the price is in line with other designer high-end brands.

RECOMMENDATION: If you like creamy, rich shades of red that lean a little orange, Union Red might be something right up your alley. I like orange-reds best on warmer skin tones, but this one doesn’t lean too orange, so it can definitely be worn by those with cooler skin tones as well.

Burberry Hibiscus (20) Lipstick ($30.00 for 0.13 oz.) is an intense shade of ruby red–though more red than ruby, I’d say! When I was picking out three lipsticks to purchase, I thought Hibiscus might be a deep pink, rather than red, but it’s most certainly in the red family. There is a very subtle shimmer strewn through the color, but it’s not obvious nor is the end result shimmery in the least bit.

Burberry has created a solid lipstick formula–it’s creamy without being thick or slippery, and it’s moisturizing without sliding off in an hour. I picked only bold shades by chance, and Hibiscus was very rich and looked nearly opaque on my lips. It applied smoothly, evenly, and didn’t bleed on my lips (but very few lipsticks do). Being such a deep shade, it wore well–four hours and then left a stain behind.

Each lipstick has an embellished check pattern on the lipstick itself, as well as the same gunmetal, check-covered packaging that the other Burberry Bauty products have. The lipstick has a magnetic closure, and I was rather amused by how the lipstick would spin into place, no matter how you slipped the lid back on–just drop the lid on and it will swivel into place!

RECOMMENDATION: If you like your reds blue-based, a smidgen pinky and touch ruby, you may like Hibiscus.
