Bobbi Brown Cabana Corals Collection

Bobbi Brown Cabana Corals Collection:  A Little Lip Color

Bobbi Brown Cabana Corals Collection includes two new shades of Lip Color (Cabo Coral – a warm pink coral; Guava – a medium tone nectar) and three new shades of Metallic Lip Color (Calypso Glaze — a golden pink; Coral Glaze — a nude nectar; and Coral Reef — a medium pink coral). All five new lipstick shades are $22 each with 0.12 oz. of product per lipstick. From Bobbi Brown’s website, Cabo Coral and Coral Glaze are limited edition.

I received three of them to test-drive, and my favorite was definitely Cabo Coral, but I like my lipsticks creamy and pigmented… so it wasn’t even much of a contest!

  • Cabo Coral is a creamy, richly pigmented orange-coral with soft, frosty sheen. Totally full coverage once applied to lips (my first ultra pigmented Bobbi Brown lipstick!).
  • Coral Reef is a semi-sheer orange-coral with a shimmery, frosty sheen. Applied to lips, it’s a very light coral and more of a golden shimmer-sheen.
  • Coral Glaze is a more muted orange-coral in comparison to Coral Reef (but both are similar to each other). The shimmer-sheen in this one, once applied, is more muted and has a more champagne-coral feel.

Any of these catch your fancy?

Bobbi Brown Cabana Corals Collection

Bobbi Brown Cabana Corals Collection:  Cabo Coral Pot Rouge

Bobbi Brown Cabo Coral Pot Rouge ($22.00) is one of two new shades from the Bobbi Brown Cabana Corals Collection. The other shade is Calypso Coral (a bright coral).

Cabo Coral is a very peachy coral. It’s more peach than coral–but it does have a slight pinkness to it that makes it read a little coral. I found it looked more coral on my lips (I imagine from some of the natural pinkness of my lips) than on my cheeks (which was peachier).

Pot Rouges are designed to be used on both lips and cheeks. It has a creamy formula that feels like like a hardened cream almost, because it’s not actually that creamy in the pot. On the cheeks, it’s easy to apply with a stippling brush or blended with fingertips or a sponge for soft, natural color. It’s peach enough to work well on cooler skin tones, while it also works on those with warmer skin tones.

What I really like about the Pot Rouges is the staying power. This is more of a blush stain than a cream blush, because it really does grab and stay on cheeks throughout the day. It doesn’t fade or melt away by mid-afternoon, which is a huge plus for when you need your makeup to look on point all day long. It’s pigmented enough to give you nice color on both lips and cheeks, but not so pigmented that it’s easy to overapply.

This is my first Pot Rouge, but it makes me excited to check out some other shades. What are your favorites?

Bobbi Brown Cabana Corals Collection

Bobbi Brown Cabana Corals Collection:  Shimmer Lip Glosses

Bobbi Brown Cabana Corals Collection includes three new shades of Shimmer Lip Gloss (Coral Sand – a golden peach; Golden Nectar — a peach coral shimmer; and Sunset Beach — a golden pink coral). Both Coral Sand and Sunset Beach are limited edition. Each gloss retails for $20.00 and contains 0.14 fl. oz.

  • Sunset Beach is a sheer, peachy-coral with golden shimmer. It has a very wet, kind of creamy/milky look on lips with just a hint of shimmer.
  • Coral Sand is a sheer, bronzy peach with peach-gold shimmer. This has more of a traditional shimmer gloss look — sheer with noticeable golden shimmer.

Bobbi Brown’s Shimmer Lip Glosses are thick, sticky, and always run on the sheer side (so those who love pigmented glosses, look elsewhere). They are designed to be subtle and glossy with light shimmer–not thick, opaque, richly colored glosses, for reference. Because they are thicker and tackier, they last longer than most glosses (I get about three to four hours).

Two things I wish would change about this product, though: a better applicator and more for your money. The applicator is a stubby plastic-y bristled brush that’s tiny and doesn’t feel great on lips. I wish it had a doe-foot applicator or a more traditional brush applicator. For the price tag, even against its competitors in the price range, you just don’t get that much gloss in each tube for the price, so they are on the pricier side.  (Realistically, if you have a ton of glosses, the amount probably isn’t a big deal, since you’re unlikely to finish it.)

Did you grab any of the new Shimmer Lip Glosses?

Bobbi Brown Nectar Shimmerbrick

Bobbi Brown Cabana Corals:   Nectar Shimmerbrick

Bobbi Brown Nectar Shimmerbrick ($38.00 for 0.4 oz.) is new for spring–part of the Cabana Corals Collection–and is a coral lover’s dream. If you love Shimmerbricks and have an affinity for corals and bronzed golds, I think this just may be a new favorite for you.  (Also releasing with Cabana Corals is Pink Quartz Shimmerbrick!)

When worn on cheeks, it works as a blusher and highlighter in one, because it packs plenty of color along with a soft frosty shimmer sheen. Although some Shimmerbricks are just a tad too frosty to me at times (at least on cheeks!), Nectar is just right. It hits that sweet spot of color, shimmer, and sheen. It can be applied with a light hand for a softer application or layered for an intense cheek for night time. Since I am an absolute fiend for all things coral, Nectar is most definitely my favorite Shimmerbrick to-date!

Shimmerbricks are a pricey investment, but they’ll last you a long time (or forever, in my case) — you get a whopping 0.4 oz., which makes the cost per ounce just a smidgen more than MAC blushes. Each of the five strips of color swatch beautifully; rich color, intense pigmentation, and smooth to the touch Shimmerbricks can be used on the eyes or cheeks, and you could get a very pretty sunset-esque kind of look out of these shades in addition to its usage of a very coral-bronzed blusher. I like that it can be a multi-tasker, at least. I have to admit, I haven’t worn any Shimmerbricks on my eyes yet but may have to give it try with Nectar.

You can see me wearing it in this look! :)
