Benefit I Think I Love You Full-Finish Lipstick ($18.00 for 0.10 oz.) is described as a “bronze rose.” It’s an apt description; it’s a sultry plummy rose with a metallic-like frost to it. The color coverage is nearly opaque. Clarins Blackberry is a creamier version–it doesn’t have the frosted finish. MAC Snazzy is redder and has fuchsia shimmer. MAC One of a Kind is a little brighter, less muted.

It delivers the medium to full color coverage the lipstick is supposed to, and it does so with a really smooth, melt-on-your-lips kind of color.  It applies evenly, and it doesn’t take a lot of product to get the really opaque look.  The texture is creamy enough to allow the slanted tip to glide across the lips with ease, but it isn’t thick or heavy, so it doesn’t slide around and get onto teeth.  There’s no discernible taste or scent, which may be a plus for some.  It is moisturizing, too, which is good, because I was able to get five hours of wear out of this shade during testing.

	Kind of like a sleeper hit--Benefit's Full-Finish Lipstick has excellent color payoff, comfortable wear, and moisturizes. This is such a great shade for fall/winter, because it's darker, plummier, but it isn't vampy, so it's wearable with many different looks.

Benefit Saucy Full-Finish Lipstick ($18.00 for 0.10 oz.) is described as a “sparkling tangerine.” This is a lovely brightened coral-orange with peach and copper shimmer. It delivers mostly opaque color coverage. CoverGirl Rapture is similar in the base color, though a bit more orange. MAC Drive Me Wild is like a much deeper, redder version, but it has the same coppery shimmer. Milani Cora Bora Bora is frostier but the colors are similar–just no gold shimmer in this one. Dior Coral is in the same vein but with subtler shimmer. It’s a bit pinker but reminded me of Guerlain Gems.

Benefit’s Full-Finish Lipsticks are supposed to deliver medium to full coverage with a smooth finish. They’re really creamy and have a nice glide. For a lipstick with as much slip as this one, I was surprised that it wore so well–it lasts a solid four hours and almost makes it to five. I didn’t detect any scent or taste either!  I also liked how moisturizing this one; it’s quite hydrating and wears comfortably for hours without leaving lips feeling parched.

The Sultry Season: Benefit Breakup Rumor Lipstick

Benefit Breakup Rumor Lipstick ($18.00 for 0.10 oz.) is a gorgeous reddened berry with gold sheen and glossy finish.  If you feel like you’ve seen this recently, you’re right — it’s very similar to MAC’s Baron’s Rose — but it’s not limited edition and you can purchase it on its own (rather than as part of a set).  I actually just swatched it shortly after Baron’s Rose, and I was struck by the similarity then.   It’s a lovely holiday shade, though, with the glinting gold sheen.

Benefit is the Girly Cure to Your Makeup & Skin Woes

Have you ever tried the ever-feminine Benefit Cosmetics line? Really? Never, you say? Let us fill you in on some of the best products they have to offer. But between you and me, we definitely suggest starting out with their amazing Velvet Eyeshadows, followed by their Creaseless Eyeshadows.

• Creaseless Cream Eyeshadows ($19.00) come in twelve shades, and they often put out limited edition ones as part of their seasonal collections. These are easy to wear, last all day, and can be worn alone or under other eyeshadows as a base.
• CORALista Blush ($28.00) is a value-sized coral blusher that’s absolutely divine on warmer skin tones, but it isn’t so warm or so coral that it doesn’t work on cooler or paler skin tones, too. (I love how many of Benefit’s products work for a variety of skin tones.) This is a summer staple for me.
• Gilded Eyeliner ($20.00) is a quick and dirty way to pop open those peepers and make those eyes look alive, even when you’re operating on little to no sleep. A pearly, golden-yellow works well on the lower water line and inner tear duct to brighten up your eyes.
• Full-Finish Lipsticks ($18.00) came back with a vengeance last fall (in 2008) and is available in fourteen shades. These lipsticks are creamy, pigmented, and moisturizing while giving you great wear. One of my favorite lipstick formulas!
• One Hot Minute ($30.00) is an all-over loose powder that makes your entire face look brighter and more awake with just a light dusting. It gives a soft, luminous sheen that’s not disco-ball glittery.
• Benetint ($28.00) is just one of those cult products that you either adore or you don’t understand the buzz. It’s a great multi-tasking product that you can keep in your makeup bag for any spontaneous occasion. You can use it to add color to cheeks or lips, and one little bottle goes quite a long way. It’s soft and natural–the two must-haves of any cheek/lip stain.
• Velvet Eyeshadow ($18.00) is easily one of the best eyeshadow formulations on the market. Velvety, silky, and smooth describe the finish of these lovelies. Pigmented and true-to-color bring it all home. The only downside? There are only ten shades! I adore, ADORE Bikini Line.
