2010 MTV Movie Awards Photos

Katy Perry @ 2010 MTV Movie Awards

Katy Perry @ 2010 MTV Movie Awards

I’m loving her eye brows – the arch and shape really wow me!

Makeup How-to:

The wig was definitely the focal point of the look so we wanted to balance that bright color out with a dramatic glamorous eye and keep the rest of the colors nude. She wanted a polished chic look. For her face I used Makeup For Ever HD Foundation followed by COVERGIRL Simply Ageless Sculpting Blush in Plush Peach to give her cheeks a warm glow.

On Katy’s eye I used COVERGIRL Line Exact in Black. I love liquid liner because it allows you to change the shape of an eye, we wanted to create a more almond shape for Katy. Above the black liner, I used the white shade of the COVERGIRL Smoky ShadowBlast in Onyx Smoke. In her waterline I applied new COVERGIRL LiquiLineBlast in Silver Spark to make the eyes pop. Women tend to be afraid to use liner in the inner eye but it actually balances out a dramatic eye look. To finish the eye I applied multiple coats of COVERGIRL LashBlast Fusion in Very Black.

On her lips I used COVERGIRL Outlast Lipstain in Flirty Nude and applied LaMer Lip Balm on top for a touch of shine. Before her performance I punched up the look a bit by adding COVERGIRL LiquiLineBlast in Blue Bloom for a pop of color and COVERGIRL Outlast Lipstain in Everbloom Kiss. Katy loves the Outlast Lipstains because they are great for when she performs; they don’t stick to her hair or microphone and never smudge. — Jake Bailey

2010 Oscars

Cameron Diaz @ 2010 Oscars

Cameron Diaz @ 2010 Academy Awards

I love her dress, and I love the hair.  Definitely one of Cameron Diaz’s better looks!

Makeup How-to

“We took the Veronica Lake regal, smooth, classic Hollywood look and gave it a modern but glamorous twist. We kept the warmth and added a little edge.” — Robin Fredriksz

Robin started off by applying CHANEL Soft Touch Eye Shadow in Sand in the crease of the lids, and lining the entire eye with CHANEL Intense Eye Pencil in Noir. To make Cameron’s striking blue eyes pop even more, Robin applied several coats of CHANEL Inimitable Mascara in Noir. As Cameron has loved a red lip lately, Robin lined her lips with CHANEL Lip Definer in Rouge, and applied the perfect true red lip shade – CHANEL Rouge Coco in Gabrielle. She used the same shade of lip colour as a blush, dabbing a bit on the apples of the cheeks. Her nails were painted with CHANEL Nail Colour in Lotus Rouge, a flattering shade perfect for the red carpet.

2010 Oscars

Demi Moore @ 2010 Oscars

Demi Moore @ 2010 Academy Awards

Demi looks so gorgeous tonight!

Makeup How-to

Demi Moore was a complete vision at the Academy Awards, from her dusty rose Versace gown to her easy updo to her softly dramatic makeup. Celebrity makeup artist Jo Strettell did the beauty honors for the always-stunning Demi.

For Demi’s complexion, Jo mixed two Giorgio Armani foundations—Luminous Silk Foundation and Lasting Silk UV SPF 34 Compact Foundation—and swept YSL Touche Éclat under the eyes and around the nose. Lancôme’s Blush Subtil in Rose Fresque, just on the apples of the cheeks, brightened her complexion.

Jo created the soft, smoky eye with Lancôme Color Design Eye in Ciel du Soir on the lid and Color Design Eye in Honeymoon as a highlight from right above the lid to the brow bone and on the inner corner of the eyes. Lancôme’s Le Crayon Khôl in Gris Noir lined the eyes and Jo softened the look by smudging the line.

The lashes were curled with a Shu Uemura lash curler, followed by several coats of Lancôme Hypnôse Drama in Excessive Black on the top lashes and Ôscillation Mascara in Black to the lower lashes. For Demi’s lips, the combination of Lancôme’s L’Absolu Rouge in Rich Cashmere and Juicy Tubes in Spring Fling created a pretty, nude lip that had just enough pop.

2010 Oscars

Kate Winslet @ 2010 Oscars

Kate Winslet @ 2010 Academy Awards

The hair is gorgeous!

Makeup How-to

Lancôme abassador Kate Winslet looked resplendent at the Academy Awards yesterday, clad in an Yves Saint Laurent gown and bold jewelry from Tiffany & Co. Kate’s long-time makeup artist, Jillian Dempsey, topped off the look with soft, ethereal makeup. Both the eyes and the lips got equal attention on this Oscar winner. Shimmering, champagne-pewter shades highlighted the eyes, while very saturated mascara delivered that extra definition. A pop of pink blush on her cheeks gave Kate just a hint of a natural flush. Jillian topped off the look with nude-pink lips.

  • EYES: Jillian Dempsey for Avon Professional Kohl Eyeliner in Black, Lancôme Hypnôse Drama Mascara in Excessive Black, Avon True Color Eyeshadow Quad in Blushing Raisins (using the Raisin shade for definition), Lancôme Brow Expert in Naturel
  • FACE & CHEEKS: Avon MagiX Face Perfector SPF 20, Lancôme Photôgenic Lumessence Foundation, Lancôme Dual Finish Powder Foundation, Shu Uemura Blush in Pink 30
  • LIPS: Lancôme L’Absolu Rouge in Rich Cashmere, Lancôme Color Fever Gloss in Hotness

Hair How-to

INSPIRATION: A modern day Veronica Lake, classic Hollywood glamour

Start by applying FEKKAI COIFF STRONG HOLD VOLUME MOUSSE mixed with the FEKKAI COIFF PERFECTOR ANTI-FRIZZ SILKENING CRÈME from roots to ends. He made a side part before he dried the hair. He dried the hair with FEKKAI LARGE ROUND BRUSH and pined it in place as it cooled down. Next, he used a one inch curling iron to create soft loose waves. He finished with FEKKAI SHEER HOLD HAIRSPRAY.

2010 Oscars

Rachel McAdams @ 2010 Oscars

Rachel McAdams @ 2010 Academy Awards

I love!!

Makeup How-to

“We chose our colour palette based on the water colour look of Rachel’s dress. There was a wash of cool tones in the dress, blue, green, purple, pink so we wanted the eye, cheek and lips to all have this same water colour sheerness to it.” — Kayleen McAdams

For Rachel’s eyes, Kayleen used a combination of grey and pink shades. On the lid, she used CHANEL Fluid Iridescent Eyeshadow in Fountain. She kept the grey on the outer corners of the lid and underneath the eye. She used the rose gold shade in the CHANEL Quadra Eyeshadow in Spices up to the brown bone and along the lid. To finish it off, Kayleen used CHANEL Soft Touch Eye Shadow in Slate in the inner corners of the eye, and followed up with two coats of CHANEL Inimitable Mascara in Noir. She kept the lips very simple with CHANEL Rouge Coco Lip Colour in Rose Comete, a beautiful light pink shade, and a bit of CHANEL Glossimer in Futile to accentuate the lips but keep the focus on the eyes.

Hair How-to

For Hollywood’s biggest night of the year, Sebastian Stylist Design Team Member Thomas Dunkin styled actress Rachel McAdams’ tresses to complement her pastel watercolor-print strapless couture gown. The voluminous texture of Rachel’s bun evoked a spring-time look that is effortlessly chic and breathtakingly beautiful.

  • Thomas shares styling tips for recreating Rachel’s red carpet look at home:
Start by applying Sebastian Professional Liquid Gloss to slightly damp hair.
  • Blow dry hair straight with a large round bristle brush to give hair a smooth, polished base and voluminous texture from which to start styling.
  • Brush hair back and put in a ponytail just above the occipital bone. Secure with bobby pins.
  • Backcomb the ponytail and start to smooth the hair under using Sebastian Professional Re-Shaper hairspray, securing with bobby pins. Do this until all of the hair is tucked under and secured.
  • Apply Sebastian Professional Craft Clay to the top and sides of the head for a textured effect rather than a perfectly-groomed finish.
  • Finish the look with Sebastian Professional Re-Shaper hairspray and gently massage the whole look to give it a disheveled, modern feel.

2010 Oscars

Jennifer Lopez @ 2010 Oscars

Jennifer Lopez @ 2010 Academy Awards

I love her makeup!  It’s nothing we haven’t seen before, but I still love how it looks on her.

Makeup How-to

“Based on her dress, I wanted to create an ethereal movie-star look. I kept the cheekbones high and highlighted with the NARS Enchanted Cream Blush for a soft and supportive look.” –Matthew Vanleeuween for NARS Cosmetics

Jennifer Lopez wore the following products to achieve a soft, yet radiant look:

  • Orgasm illuminator
  • Enchanted Cream Blush (NEW for Summer 2010; try Gueule de Nuit Cream Blush for a similar effect)
  • Desire Blush
  • Smudge Proof Eyeshadow Base (NEW for Summer 2010, Available May 1st)
  • D. Gorgeous Single Eyeshadow
  • Brousse Duo Eyeshadow
  • Larger Than Life Volumizing Mascara
  • Cruising Lipstick
  • Sweet Dreams Lip Gloss

Hair How-to

Jennifer Lopez was dazzling on the Oscar red carpet, wearing a beautiful Armani Prive dress, accented by an elegantly texturized updo created by master stylist Robert Vetica. The look was very modern and sophisticated.

To create the style, Vetica started by applying Moroccanoil Hydrating Styling Cream on wet hair to create smoothness and shine. After blowdrying hair straight he sectioned hair off and created two ponytails, an inch apart, one on top of the other to create volume below the crown of the head.

Next, Vetica used a curling iron on each ponytail to create texture, and then brushed them out for width and volume. After creating the shape of the updo, he strategically pulled out stands throughout the look to create a modern textured effect using flyaways around the forehead to further soften. He then finished with new argan oil-infused Moroccanoil Luminous Hair Spray.
