Asking me to choose my favorite highlighter, by the way, is akin to making me choose favorites between (fur) children (if I had more than one). There were some seriously ga-ga-glowing highlighters launched this year, too! On the blush front, there were some great shades and formulas I tried and tested, but it was easier to narrow those down.
bareMinerals The Love Affair Luminizer ($26.00 for 0.30 oz.) is described as a “pink nectar glow.” It’s a light, pink-tinged beige with a champagne-gold shimmer-sheen. Against my skin tone, it does seem a little warmer than it looks in the pan–but even in the pan, it does read warm. It reminded me of Bobbi Brown Rose Gold, when all blended together, though it had a frostier finish with less gold in it. MAC Porcelain Pink is lighter but comparable.
This shade is offered alongside The Shining Moment, which is a yellow-y gold hue. If that shade was too warm for you, I think this would work better, though it will still add a warm glow to the skin. It has a soft, finely-milled texture that blends out to a beautiful sheen with little shimmer, so it gives that lit-from-within effect once applied to the skin. The sheen over shimmer finish means it doesn’t emphasize pores or the skin’s natural texture, so it actually helps diffuse those things instead. It had great pigmentation, and it doesn’t have a white base, so it shouldn’t turn ashy on darker complexions. When I tested this for wear, The Love Affair wore for nine hours without fading.
This highlighter gives a beautiful glow and sheen to the skin that is easy to blend out and apply, because it has a buttery soft, smooth texture that practically melts against the skin.

On warmer complexions, this will be incredibly complimentary. On cooler complexions, I think it will still work, but there’s a chance it might turn orange-y so you may want to try before you buy. It read true yellow gold without any orange/red tones when I swatched it and looked at it in the pan. The texture is similar to the Ready eyeshadows, though this felt not quite as dense/buttery.
It was very finely-milled, soft to the touch, and blended beautifully on the skin. It gave a glowing sheen, and it didn’t emphasize pores or the texture of the skin. The payoff was true-to-pan, so depending on your application, it could be applied heavily or lightly, because it would smooth and even out easily. It lasted nine hours without fading when I tested the wear. bareMinerals continues to impress me with their Ready range; the wear is impeccable, rich in pigmentation, and extremely blendable and easy to use.
