69th Annual Golden Globe Awards: Sarah Michelle Gellar
A look at Sarah Michelle Gellar as she walked the red carpet at the 69th Annual Golden Globe Awards held at the Beverly Hilton hotel in Beverly Hills, California on January 15th, 2012. Her makeup was done by makeup artist Jake Bailey. The inspiration for this look was Sarah’s Monique L’huillier blue and white gown (which was chosen by Sarah’s two year old daughter). For the night, Jake wanted to make the eyes the main focus to complement the bold color of the dress.

Makeup Breakdown
To start, Jake used L’Oréal Paris Extra-Intense Carbon Black Eyeliner to rim and define the top and bottom lash lines. Next, Jake blended two shades of L’Oréal Paris Infallible Eye Shadow in Midnight Blue and Sultry Smoke – using his fingertip, Jake gently blended both shades and used them outward and upward to create a smokey effect. To accentuate Sarah Michelle’s lashes he coated them with L’Oréal Paris Voluminous False Fiber Lashes Mascara in Blackest Black.
He perfected her skin by buffing a dime size dollop L’Oréal Paris True Match Super-Blendable Makeup in Caramel Beige over Sarah Michelle’s entire face and finished it with a dusting of Guerlain Mineral Powder in Les Violettes. Jake used a powder bronzer from Nars in Laguna to warm her complexion and brightened her cheeks with a swirl of a shimmery coral blush called from Benefit in Coralista on the apples
He lined Sarah Michelle’s lips and filled them in with a nude liner called from Urban Decay in wallflower. Jake finished the look by applying L’Oréal Paris Infallible 8hr plumping gloss in plumping pink to add shine and dimension. For her body he mixed equal parts AHAVA mineral body lotion and M.A.C. strobe cream to add a healthy sheen to her shoulders arms and decolletage.

A look at Mireille Enos as she walked the red carpet at the 69th Annual Golden Globe Awards held at the Beverly Hilton hotel in Beverly Hills, California on January 15th, 2012. Her makeup was by Rosie Johnston for NYX Cosmetics/KAPLAN MD. Rosie complemented Mireille’s beautiful yellow gown with a natural eye and bold red lip.
Makeup Breakdown
Rosie prepped Mireille’s skin with KAPLAN MD’s Clarifying Toner ($50/neimanmarcus.com) and NYX Cosmetics’ HD Studio Photogenic Primer. To even Mireille’s complexion, she mixed the NYX Cosmetics’ HD Studio Photogenic Concealer Wand in Green with the HD Studio Photogenic Foundation in Nude. To set the liquid foundation, Rosie used the NYX Cosmetics HD Studio Photogenic Grinding Powder in Nude. Rosie then applied the HD Studio Photogenic Grinding Blush in English Rose, to complement the yellow tones in Mireille’s dress.
To enhance the upper lash lines, Rosie used the NYX Cosmetics Collection Noir Skinny Black Liner and coated it with the Collection Noir Glossy Black Liner. Next, she applied the Roll On Eye Shimmer in Platinum to Mireille’s lids. Rosie finished with several coats of NYX Cosmetics’ Provocateur Mascara from the Boudoir Mascara Collection, using the Level 1 wand for the upper lashes and the Level 2 wand for the lower lashes.
Rosie created a dramatic bright red lip with the NYX Cosmetics Matte Lipstick in Perfect Red to complement Mireille’s yellow gown.

Her makeup was done by makeup artist Brett Freedman. On inspiration, Freedman said, “Since Callie plays such a tough cookie on Necessary Roughness I decided to keep her makeup super soft, dewy and feminine. I avoided the dark, Kardashian eye and went more the JLo route: nudes mixed with gloss, shimmer and touches of color. ”
Makeup Breakdown
Skin: Dermalogica Oil Free moisturizer. A great prep for any skin type. I use it on everyone! Base: Makeup Forever HD. Powder: Benefit Hello Flawless Bronzer: Elizabeth Arden. I actually used the bronzer to sculpt her cheeks and as an eyeshadow. Cheek: Maybelline Dream Mousse in Soft Plum. I used on apples of cheeks and swept up toward her temples for a very womanly look. Highlight: Jemma Kidd Iced Gold. I applied to her brow bone and tops of cheeks for a dewy, ‘new car finish’. See in the pic how it catches light? Pretty! Brows: Vanitymark Ultra-Brow pencil in Milk Choco. I wanted Callie’s brows to be lighter than her lashes…so your eyes would go right to her eyes! Mascara: L’Oreal Voluminous in Carbon. Five whopping coats! Faux Lashes: I mixed Ardell’s individuals in short (the center) and medium (outer corners) for the ultimate fringe. Liquid liner: Urban Decay Gold. I love that it has a touch of very fine glitter. So pretty to add interest. I applied along the top lash line and into the tear duct. Lips: I mixed Tarte’s Matte Lip Tint in Envy (a nod to the plummy clutch she was carrying) and iced with YSL gold shimmer gloss to unify the neutrals on the face. Body Shimmer: Vanitymark’s Shimmerskin. A beautiful champagne shimmer spray that lasts all night and photographs beautifully.
