Nicole Kidman arrives at the 2011 Oscars on Sunday, February 27th. Celebrity makeup artist Angela Levin said, “”Nicole’s Oscar look was glamorous Hollywood with a Brigitte Bardot twist. She looked sexy and playful! Beautiful glowing pale lips, rosy cheeks, and glamour were my inspiration, concentrating on her beautiful eyes and gorgeous skin.”
“To prepare Nicole’s skin, I used CHANEL Sublimage Essential Regenerating Cream all over her face and neck, as well as on her shoulders and décolleté. As a base I used CHANEL Vitalumiere Fluid Makeup in Ivoire. For the eyes, I used the dark shade from the CHANEL Eyeshadow Duo in Bleu-Tendre feathering the shadow inward, creating a dark outer corner of the eye, for a bit of a up 60′s look. Then I used the taupe shade in the CHANEL Quadra Eyeshadow in Stupendous in the inner corner of the eye. From the CHANEL Quadra Eyeshadow in Winter Nights, I used the medium, silvery taupe shade and swept it on all over the eye using a round motion, blending all the shades together. On her eyebrows I used the CHANEL Brow Definer in Blond Clair, and two coats of CHANEL Inimitable Mascara in Noir, on top and bottom. Underneath the eye I used a Sephora Nano Eye Pencil in Silver Green. For her lips we chose CHANEL Rouge Coco Lip Colour in Magnolia. Then I used the same shade of lip colour on her cheeks, dabbing the shade on the apples of her cheeks with my finger. One of my favorite red carpet beauty tricks!”
Celebrity Hairstylist David Babaii wanted to achieve a “Playful Ponytail” with a hint of Bridget Bardot for Nicole Kidman’s 2011 Oscar look.
David always begins every red carpet look with clean hair followed by applying Couture Colour Pequi Oil Treatment (now available at www.sephora.com) to her entire head. It is derived from the Pequi fruit, known for centuries as the beauty secret of the Amazon Rainforest. Once applied, David is amazed at how Nicole’s beautiful red hair color looks so fresh and vibrant. The Pequi Oil Treatment also instantly absorbs leaving hair smooth and shiny. He then sectioned off a bang and cut a French fringe to frame the face. Next, he blow dried Nicole’s hair with the IT&LY HAIRFASHION Ionic Dryer that supplies super-fast drying power along with a large round brush. At the bang area, he gently bumped the ends under. After the hair was dried, he applied an additional amount of Pequi Oil to create a smooth and shiny surface. To begin the “Playful Ponytail” up-do, he used his hands to sweep the hair into a ponytail creating a slight bump at the crown and securing with a band. To finish the French fringe, David added additional Pequi Oil to his fingers to define.
Anne Hathaway arrives at the 2011 Oscars on Sunday, February 27th. Celebrity makeup artist Kate Lee created her look.
“Anne wore a red Valentino Couture archive dress on the red carpet. The look was centered around a thin black lined eye with a defined socket and a deep rose lip stain. For a base, I used CHANEL Vitalumiere Fluid Makeup in Limpide, which I used throughout the show. For concelear, I used Kanebo Brush Type Concealer in CB 1 Light. To create a fresh glow on her cheeks, I used CHANEL Powder Blush in Fresque, and defined cheek bones with Kevyn Aucoin The Sculpting Powder in Medium. I created a black line created with Bobbi Brown longwear gel liner in Black Ink. The eye socket was defined with Illamasqua Powder Eye Shadow in Truth, and I applied CHANEL Inimitable Mascara in Noir. On her lips, I used CHANEL Rouge Coco Lip Colour in Rivoli, and lightly powdered over her mouth for a matte effect. In between changes I used By Terry Rose Salve to remove lip colors and keep lips fresh.”
Frederic Fekkai’s Adir Abergel tended to the tresses of Host, Anne Hathaway. It was a modern take on an Edwardian influenced style accented with a bohemian flair; a soft, loose style with beautiful shine.
Begin by parting the hair down the center and apply Fekkai Advanced Full Blown Volume Styling Whip to the hair from roots ends. Blow-dry the hair using Fekkai Round Brush. Next, pull hair into a low ponytail at the nape of the neck, making sure to cover the ears. Then twist the ponytail into a loose knot. The key is keeping it loose for a touch of bohemian flair. It’s almost like a draping around the face with wispy pieces of hair coming out softly. Finish the look by spraying the Fekkai Coiff™ Sheer Hold Hairspray.
Michelle Williams arrives at the 2011 Oscars on Sunday, February 27th. Celebrity makeup artist Jeanine Lobell said, “My inspiration was Michelle’s stunning CHANEL 2011 Spring/Summer Haute Couture gown. The dress represented Michelle’s personality – ethereal and sparkling.”
“Michelle’s skin is so fresh and beautiful. I applied CHANEL Vitalumiere Aqua Ultra Light Skin Perfecting Makeup in B10, which allows her skin to shine though the makeup, creating a fresh look. I set the makeup with CHANEL Natural Finished Press Pressed Powder in Translucent 1. For eyes, we went for a light, ethereal smoky look mixing the shades in the CHANEL Quadra Eyeshadow in Smoky Eyes. I used the silvery shade as a base, and then used the pewter shade, taking it from the lash line up into the crease, adding shape to the eye. I then smudged the same shade in the lower lash line. I used the black shade, blended into the pewter, as a liner. I applied a few individual lashes in the center, and a lot of CHANEL Inimitable Waterproof Mascara in Noir on the top and bottom. I used the CHANEL Precision Brow Definer in Blond Claire to define the brow. To create a glowing pink cheek, I applied CHANEL Blush Duo Tweed Effect in Pink Tweed. I mixed her lip colour, CHANEL Rouge Coco Lip Colour in Rose Dentelle, with a bit of the Vitalumiere Aqua foundation, which creates the effect of the lips blending into the face.”
