I wonder what lipstick she’s wearing!
Best Supporting Actress nominee Vera Farmiga wore a swirling, ruffled Marchesa gown in a vibrant berry color that was pure red carpet. Her Oscar hair look, created by celebrity stylist Lona Vigi, was soft, romantic and very modern.
The design emphasized soft, wavy texture as well as volume, and used a professional Velecta Paramount Paris X:Q Onyx blow dryer to create its essential structure and shape. Vigi started with wet hair, sprayed on volumizer, and used the high setting of the powerful dryer to quickly dry the hair while sculpting curls using a small round brush. She then pinned each barrel curl in place to build in height, and used the cool setting to lock in the curls.
“This French-made dryer is my new favorite tool,” explained Vigi. “It’s really fast and powerful yet so lightweight, and quiet enough to have a conversation while I’m working. The quality is amazing! Velecta Paramount Paris dryers are made by hand from start to finish by one person, and I love that it’s ergonomic and low-EMF.”
After releasing the curls, Vigi gently finger combed the top of the hair to soften it and create a flowing shape. She then pulled the hair back into a low ponytail at the nape of the neck, split it in two and wrapped each side in opposite directions to created large, loose and carefree textured bun.
She secured it with both bobby and hair pins, finished with a touch of hairspray and then placed a Fred Leighton diamond pin on top the left side of the bun.

Ohh, I really love this dress! It’s so feminine and elegant–the way it opens is beautiful. Her makeup suits it as well; it’s noticeable but not overwhelming.
Celebrity makeup artist Sarah Glick was inspired by, “Youthful, ethereal beauty–think soft, natural glowing skin.”
Anna Kendrick wore a romantic blush-colored Eli Saab gown on the Oscar red carpet, complimented by an effortlessly elegant, modern updo designed by stylist Craig Gangi.
Gangi, inspired by the graceful off-the-shoulder look, created an updo highlighting softly waved texture accenting healthy hair with natural-looking shine. He first applied argan oil-infused Moroccanoil Hydrating Styling Cream to add moisture and give hair a soft hold that was smooth as well as frizz-free and static-free.
After blow-drying hair straight, Gangi used a medium sized curling iron to create loose, natural waves. He then pulled strands back, leaving just enough hair at the nape of the neck to create a small ponytail, and shaped a loose, undone textured bun.
To add a touch of drama, he went back to weave three small braids with the remaining hair, then again braided the three with each other. Finally he circled the braid around the bun. After pinning the style, he sprayed Moroccanoil Luminous Hairspray to hold the look in place without stiffness, and misted the final updo with Moroccanoil Glimmer Shine Spray for additional boost of red carpet shine.

I love the top of the dress — classy and elegant but not boring. I’m also digging the soft look of her hair.
