Celebrities have started to walk the Emmy’s red carpet, and of course, we’re here tonight to keep you updated. We hope to have a few official makeup/hair breakdowns for you, too, but expect those over the next day or two.
Rose wore a cream dress with a gold detail. Her hair was softly textured and swept into a soft high chignon by Harry Josh. I wanted to move away from anything too tan or Grecian looking, and keep things young and fresh. For this reason, I used mainly creme and gel formulas. — Kate Lee
First I smoothed the skin with CHANEL Sublimage Concentrate, and then applied a layer of oil free primer. I started by applying a layer of eye shadow base, then worked directly over the top with CHANEL Liquid Eyeshadow in Splash, a gentle mauve pewter shade. I added a liner under the lash line to add depth, then put a line of the liquid shadow over the top and blended it out slightly. Rose’s base was CHANEL Vitalumiere Fluid Makeup, blended very gently away to almost nothing. I only used powder on the nose chin and forehead, leaving the rest of the skin dewy. Lashes were given a generous coat of CHANEL Inimitable Intense Mascara in Noir.
I used a tan matte blush to sculpt Rose’s cheek bones, then on the tip of the cheek bones and just under the brow I added a gentle dab of Nars Luxor, which is a transparent creme stick which shines pink in the light. On the top crest of the lip I used a lip pencil in a rose gold tone, to add a highlight to the cupids bow, and then I added a touch of CHANEL Rouge Allure Extrait de Gloss in Insouciance… Probably the best nude gloss ever!
I was inspired by Tina’s beautiful eyes and black beaded overlay dress to do a slightly smokey elongated eye, and keep the lips and cheeks soft and pretty. — Kara Yoshimoto Bua
The focus was on Tina’s eyes and beautiful skin. I prepped with Jurlique Rose Water and the new CHANEL Sublimage Concentrate. We kept her lips fresh and moist with the beautiful CHANEL Rouge Allure Extrait de Gloss in Insolence, and CHANEL Precision Lip Definer in Praline d’Or. On her cheeks I used a bit of CHANEL Blush Duo Tweed Effect in Tweed Rose. On her eyelids, I used the darker shade in CHANEL Eyeshadow Duo in Gris-Subtil, extended out and up. Finally, I finished her eyes with the new CHANEL Inimitable Intense Mascara in Purple. It has a slight plum tone that compliments Tina’s eyes, hair, and skin tone… This mascara is my new favorite… Lengthens and thickens like crazy!
Very subtle silvery-gray smoky eye, maybe a bit of brown in the crease to keep it on the soft side! I think she may be wearing a peachy blush, but it’s hard to say. The lips look like a soft pinky-coral.
Makeup Breakdown
Christina Hendricks, Supporting Actress nominee for her role in “Mad Men,” was ethereal and stunning at tonight’s Emmy Awards. Clad in a lilac Zac Posen gown, with her signature red hair flowing, Christina’s makeup was inspired by Mia Farrow’s iconic character from “The Great Gatsby.” Celebrity makeup artist Vanessa Scali gave us a call from the Emmys to give us the details on Christina’s look:
Face: Vanessa prepped the skin with Lancôme’s La Base Pro. To perfect Christina’s already luminous skin, Vanessa used Lancôme’s new Teint Miracle Lit-From-Within Makeup. “It has an amazing transparent quality that leaves the skin looking flawless and luminous without being shiny,” said Vanessa. “I applied it with a brush and then blended with my fingers.” Blending with her fingers heated up the foundation a bit, allowing for a seamless finish. Vanessa followed with Effacernes Concealer under the eyes, her “all time favorite concealer.”
Cheeks: For a fresh pop of color I used Lancôme’s Blush Subtil Shimmer in Pink Pool on the apples of her cheeks. Dabs of Giorgio Armani Beauty’s Fluid Sheer #2 highlighted Christina’s cheekbones.
Eyes: The eye shadow was mix of YSL’s Ombre Solo Eyeshadow in Cashmere Brown and Midnight Black. “I applied these all over her lid, under the bottom lashes and blended it out past her natural lash line to softly elongate the eye,” reported Vanessa. To define and elongate the lash line, Vanessa lined the eyes with Lancôme’s Le Crayon Khôl in Black. “I used a touch of liner under her bottom lashes but smudged it for a softer look,” said Vanessa. For added depth, Vanessa used Artliner Precision Point Eyeliner in Noir at the very base of Christina’s lashes. Several generous coats of Lancôme Définicils Waterproof Mascara in Black were used on the top and bottom lashes.
Lips: Christina’s lips were a mix of Lancôme lip colors for an effect that Vanessa described as “red with a little dash of pink.” A sheer coat of Color Design Matte Lipstick in Corset was topped by La Laque Fever Lipshine in Cyber Coral
Lea Michele had a faded navy blue that extended from lash line to crease, paired with a subtly bronzed cheek and a pinky-nude lip.
Makeup Breakdown
NARS Cosmetics worked with celebrity makeup artist Melanie Inglessis to create the makeup look for Lea Michele at the 2010 Emmy Awards. Many products from NARS’ new Fall Collection were key creating the look.
Lea Michele wore the following products to achieve a playful yet classic look:
PRO-PRIME Smudge Proof Eyeshadow Base & Skin Smoothing Face Prep
Douceur Blush (NEW for Fall 2010)
Tzarine Duo Eyeshadow (NEW for Fall 2010)
Palladium Soft Touch Shadow Pencil (NEW for Fall 2010)
Tashkent Pure Matte Lipstick (NEW for Fall 2010)
“My inspiration was the era of the 60’s. I thought of Raquel Welch and Bridget Bardot: the winged eye, the nude lip. The dress is so classic, so we wanted to be adventurous with her eyes– giving a dash of color with the new Palladium Soft Touch Shadow Pencil – and kept the lip nude with Tashkent Pure Matte!” –Melanie Inglessis for NARS Cosmetics
