Medium skin, brown hair, brown eyes
First lip product in 2016: I snagged a few of the sale Sephora Ultra Shine Lipglosses; Love Me Pink and Honey Purple were my favorites!
First eye product in 2016: Marc Jacobs Beauty Highliner set- The High Life
First face/cheek product in 2016- Kevyn Aucoin Contour Book (also from the Sephora sale section!), followed closely by the ABH Glow Kit in Gleam. Christine, I am DYING to read your reviews of the Glow Kits!! I am sure you have a never-ending list, but pretty please? Patience is not one of my virtues, lol!

I did a LOT of comparisons against my current palettes since so many people complained about size, so I was braced for the tiny pans. As for the product itself, I am very pleased! The eye shades are great (looove the brighten shade), candlelight is a lovely natural highlight and I use a small brush in it anyway. As for the contour, I know this is silly but I very rarely contour! So if I need it, I will have it, but on the daily it’s a great subtle eyebrow filler πŸ™‚ Overall, I find it to be a small but very versatile palette- glad I got the sale price!

Profile photo of Fran

I’m glad you’re liking it. I actually thought the cost was reasonable for Kevyn Aucoin when you look at grams of product rather than size of pans, but I realize people with larger faces than mine might find the small size of the contour powder a bit daunting. It is versatile, since you can do face, eyes, and brows with it, compact for traveling. Glad you got it at the sale price though πŸ™‚ I got it last year and liked it so much that I actually also bought Vol. 2 this year, which was a fantastic value for grams of product received, and I’m finding the cream contour and highlight especially useful on dehydrated winter skin.

So far there is only a “sneak peek” with arm swatches and palette photos, but not the full reviews with ratings and wear. Believe me, I have been stalking the Temptalia FB page watching for it πŸ˜„

I’ve heard some less than stellar reviews of this from a few bloggers I really respect. Such a shame that it doesn’t live up to its claims for so many people.

I was warned by another Temptalia reader, but my order was already on the way. The colour was the high point; actually pretty good, a little too yellow for my tastes by definitely in the right ballpark so that was a definite plus. But I find the annoying issues outweigh: the heaviness and weight of the product on the skin and the appearance as such up close. Also, lack of proper dry down negates the positive.

I can say that my face looked spectacular…from a distance. I did achieve dry down, but I was outside later on that day on my snowmobile for a good hour and half in the deep cold with no face protection.. I came in from that looking pretty darn good. A little extreme for achieving dry down though…dontcha think. πŸ˜€

A hair dryer would be warmer than a snowmobile! At that weight, kind of surprising that it didn’t get icy. Prob low to no water content. Keep up the good search.

Profile photo of Wwendy

Crikey..these days something as simple as using a hair dryer seems to make the bod go into hyper hot flash mode. It feels rather counterproductive to try and dry hair whilst sweating buckets. Perimenopause is wreaking havoc with my thermostat and other systems…and yet weirdly improving my autoimmune.

Night sweats. ..the snowmobile would be the perfect antidote between the hours of 2 and 5 a.m… got a visual: I’m out there astride my skidoo in my frickin’ bedhead jammies. Wheeeee

Profile photo of Nancy T

Oh that sounds like fun when my *now* rare hot flashes from Hades hit!!!! Go on a Skidoo and squeeeπŸ˜…….oh wait, I just remembered we don’t have any snow here. Well, oh pooh! πŸ˜•

Hey, you got an excellent side effect from peri. All I got was antidepressants and the immune stuff cranked. Now that it’s major rear view mirror, there are still a few hypothalamic-pituitary axis issues, like temperature instability and big drops…93 is worse than a fever. Really nice when that immune stuff remits. Many of my peri friends are taking their dogs out, commando in thin nightgowns, that they only wear outside, below freezing. There’s a reason that it’s called the curse.

I can empathize. Lol! I am on the west coast and frequently was on my balcony in my underwear during those hours in the winter!

Profile photo of Wwendy

I purchased from Selfridges UK and shipped to Canada. Last time I looked it wasn’t available in North America yet. It’s not a horrid foundation by any means. I prefer a lighter feeling product and medium coverage. I think a luminizing base paired with Too Faced born this way would yield similar results, but feel better on the skin (and applies far more consistently). I’m a foundation junkie tho so I am always trying latest/greatest πŸ™‚

Oh, Christine – I was at Sephora yesterday to purchase a Roof Top Party pencil (placating myself with that, I thought, since Snakeskin Dress is discontinued). WELL, after looking and looking and searching, I finally asked a SA who’d never even heard of it but it was obvious that they’ve discontinued that beautiful pencil as well! I checked the website and it’s not showing there either. So disappointing. So I left Sephora empty handed and went and bough shoes and some costume jewelry to take to India!

Profile photo of Mariella

I’d be curious to know whether it is still available at US Sephora stores. But here, it’s just gone “poof”, EXACTLY like Snakeskin Dress! I may have to get my poor son to go on a search when he’s back in SF in 4 months (I already want him to order an Anastasia eyeshadow for me!)

Yeah, that is disappointing. I managed to snag both of them by haunting the d/c bin every time I hit Sephora. It’s good to scope that section out for liners. One was the last ? Xmas 14? Liner set. Often the discontinuing things are a real steal, and liners are arguably the best Sephora house product.

❝ It was my first official ‘stalk’ of the new year; literally January 1Λ’α΅—. I regret nothing. LOL. The Aurora Collection was a hit and I wasn’t going to miss the new highlighter release! ❞

Profile photo of Julia

Oohhh I had never heard of Looxi but their stuff looks so interesting! How are the highlighters? What existing product would you compare them to in texture/ quality/ finish?

Profile photo of Momo

OMG! Where do I start with Looxi!? I’ve been obsessing over them since last summer.

The highlighters are buttery smooth and easy to blend. Some shades are better than others. I have shades from the first time Jessica, Looxi’s founder, started her online business, and the purely golden highlighters were a little chunky, but it didn’t take away from its quality. She’s gotten soooo much better now, though.

She’s made a few dupes of popular products, such as theBalm’s Mary-Lou Manizer, Becca x Jaclyn Hill’s Champagne Pop, and MAC’s ‘Magic of the Night’ EDMSF in Oh, Darling. I can attest to two of those, because I don’t have Champagne Pop. Lol. The first item/highlighter I ever bought from her was Valley Girl, and it’s a fantastic version of MAC’s Melon pigment; hers is more on the salmon side, but still golden. There’s a little bit of fallout with Valley Girl — the same thing happens with MAC’s Melon — but it’s nothing to worry about.

Most of the highlighters are super soft to the touch (like touching the Becca Skin Perfector Pressed). One touch of the powder yields an insane amount of pigmentation and/or sheen. Some feel dry to the touch, like the Mary-Lou Manizer or a Wet n Wild highlighter, but the pigmentation is still strong. Using a light hand when applying her products is advised. The swatch opacity of Looxi’s highlighters is exactly comparable to that of Becca’s Skin Perfector Pressed (I just did a swatch test using various HLs in my stash; Becca was the best match).

I hope that helps. πŸ™‚

Profile photo of Julia

thank you SO MUCH! I am going to try out a handful of the highlighters and maybe a few shadows (and get my first z-palette, too!). Can’t wait to try them πŸ™‚

Very cool! You’re welcome. And just like I told Rachel (the post down below), don’t forget your coupon code: SAVANT20 (for 20% off your order)…but if you buy the Z Palette, it won’t apply. Palettes are excluded from the discount.

It’s a great buy, nonetheless. Enjoy!

Profile photo of Julia

I did see that disclaimer- I will just grab a Z Palette from Amazon instead, nbd. Thanks for the coupon code! I also realized that they (Looxi) are only about an hour north of me here in Chicagoland! So cool, small world πŸ™‚

Profile photo of Rachel R.

I didn’t know about the Aurora collection. Holy crap! I want it all. LOL

Seriiously, though, the Pandora and Wicked highlighters are calling my name…

Profile photo of Momo

Yes!! The Auroras were so popular! She first did the eyeshadows (back in October or November), which sold out fast. I’m in love with those eyeshadows, too; I had to get them. Then she launched the highlighters on January 1st. I made sure I wasn’t going to miss it! Lol.

Pandora and Wicked is gorgeous! Grab some if you can… and don’t forget your coupon code! (SAVANT20) *all caps or it won’t apply

Yeah, you made me look, and apparently stalking is the best way to score. There’s fun there. Do I need yet another cosmetics email? Or a new brand to obsess over? But what I saw was quite original. Thanks for noting this, Momo and Rachel.

Profile photo of Momo

Signing up for Looxi isn’t necessary. Thank goodness, because I have too many makeup site accounts anyway. Lol. You only need a PayPal account. All info regarding your shipping will go to that PayPal address. I’m just not sure how it works for using simply a credit card; it’s probably the same. The best way to get Looxi Beauty info is to subscribe to her on Instagram. She doesn’t berate you with posts and useless info. Another blessing.

You’re welcome. πŸ™‚

Profile photo of WARPAINTandUnicorns

Yeah, POISONBERRY is pretty, but sheer at the same time… So i can see the disappointment in it. A lip liner does help.

Those Looxi highlighters looks amazing. I’ve seen a few reviews for them…. *__* Some of the shade are duo chrome. And their duo/tri chrome eyeshadows I’m drooling over…. but the no buy must persist!

Thanks for the tip regarding the lipstick. I’ll remember to do that.

I also bought two matte eyeshadows from EL: Wild Truffle #12 and Sandbar Beige #50. Both the blush and the eyeshadows were bought from the Cosmetic Company store at my local outlet mall. I am pretty sure this means that these are discontinued products but as they are powder products I am not too worried about the aging factor of these items.

How many times have you said the name of that shadow, only to have someone say Steal a Kitten? What are you talking about? How could you? Seriously, only makeup fans know about that iconic shade. I lent mine to someone, with a few other products to someone who went into a drunken tailspin & wound up in rehab, never returning to work. Somehow that’s worse than having a pet wreck it or lose it.
