Best way to add sparkle to the eyes: glitter liner
Best way to add a glimmer to the lips: Mac lipglass (I don’t go for lip sparkles)
Best way to add a glow to the cheeks/face: my skin is too sensitive for those pretty face powders. just blush for me.

have you tried becca shimmer skin perfectors?

      • I haven’t, but now that I’m looking at the Shimmering Skin Perfector, I’m really intrigued. It contains witch hazel, which is usually really helpful on my skin. I guess if it doesn’t work out I could always give it to my mom. Thanks for the suggestion!

No problem. I love my skin perfector. It’s so versatile. I have mine in pearl and I will put it on before foundation or mix it in with my foundation or pat it on the high points of my face. It also lasts forever. I’ve had mine for about a year now and still have tons left.

  2. Katie

    Your skin tone/coloring: Neutral/Beige
Best way to add sparkle to the eyes: If I really want to add sparkle to my eyes, I use a good base like MAC water-based mixing medium which helps prevent fall-out.
Best way to add a glimmer to the lips: I like to add a Chanel Glossimer to the center of my lip to create the effect of a more full lip with the added benefits of shimmer.
Best way to add a glow to the cheeks/face: My two favorites are Betty-Lou Manizer by TheBalm and Chanel soleil tan de chanel in Sunkissed.

  3. Profile wp-user-avatar wp-user-avatar-60 alignnone photo of Lauren Lauren

    Skin tone/coloring: fair

Best way to add sparkle to eyes: a glitter liquid liner in either gold or blue!
Best way to add glimmer to lips: a shimmery lipgloss :)
Best way to add a glow to cheeks: Benefit’s High Beam is perfect for that!

  4. Isabell

    Your skin tone/coloring: NC10
Best way to add sparkle to the eyes: Glittery pigments over a sticky base; something like Fyrinnae Pixie Epoxy.
Best way to add a glimmer to the lips: Lipgloss with golden shimmer maybe?
Best way to add a glow to the cheeks/face: Voodoo Beauty Sheer Radiance All-Over Color/Blush

Is there an NC10? Cause I thought the lowest it goes is NC15. During the winter, NC15 is too dark for me…

      • Isabell

Sorry, I should have been more clear on that; I’m a bit paler than NC15 (most of the year), so approximately I’d be a NC10.

And sadly no, MAC does not carry an NC10 in their permanent range. I use Missha BB Cream in #13!

      • Profile wp-user-avatar wp-user-avatar-60 alignnone photo of Ruca Ruca

MAC has C1,2, & 3, or N1, 2, or 3 in Face & Body (C3 is about an NC10 and the rest are all lighter); MAC also has this color range in Studio Fix. There is an NW10 in Full Coverage, and an NC15 which can be mixed with the white Full Coverage to achieve the NC10 (or paler) shade of foundation. Full Coverage is thick like concealer, but it can be applied with a wet stippling brush (187 or 130 are perfect) to get a sheer finish with light to medium coverage. Just scoop a little white out and scoop a little NC15 out and mix with a makeup spatula till you get that perfect porcelain color. MAC sells the spatulas and metal palettes on their site under “Pro” tools, or in their Pro stores. SUPER easy to use, and rather cheap, too.

  5. Profile wp-user-avatar wp-user-avatar-60 alignnone photo of Amy xamyx

    Skin: Light; very neutral (beige).

Eyes: I favor a pearl white brow highlight (sheered out so it’s just a glow & skintone shows through), and sometimes the same shadow on lid. I prefer Revlon Pure Pearl, which I don’t know if it’s still available, but I have at least 5 backups. Also, a glitter liner, as it’s more “sophisticated” than an eye full of glitter (I’m 39, LOL), although I will use one glittery shadow in a look on occasion.

Lips: I like fine microshimmer in a gloss, although I will sometimes use a layering lipstick. I’m personally a big fan of L’Oreal Infallible glosses.

Cheeks: I will only use a non-matte product as a highlight; my current products of choice are NARS Nico & Albatross, which I use interchange-ably, depending on the rest of my makeup.

Of course, at my age, I pick only one of these features in an overall look at a time, as it can be overdone.

  6. Courtney

    Skin tone: Fair neutral

Sparkly eyes: Fyrinae’s Pixy Epoxy + glitter or a shimmery loose pigment

Glimmer lips: MAC Dazzleglass. In the tube, it looks like glitter, but on the lips these gain more of a shimmer when you look at them from a distance.

Glow to the cheeks: A pale pink blush and a subtle highlight. MAC mineralize blushes are great for a soft glow as well.

  7. Skintone/Coloring: Warm, light medium to medium, NC25.

Best way to add sparkle to eyes: Pat a sparse glitter eyeshadow to over the ball area of the lid, and sweep ever so lightly under the eye, to get a Japanese/Korean style sparkle.

Best way to add a glimmer to the lips: Layer over with sparkle gloss.

Best way to add a glow to the cheeks/face: Sweep sparse glitter over high areas of face, cheekbone, T-zone, and chin. Any luminous powder will do, such as Guerlain Meteorites, Benefit Sugarbomb, MAC MSFs.

    ■Your skin tone/coloring: Fair/warm
■Best way to add sparkle to the eyes: Add Chanel Illusion d’Ombre in Fantasme over any eyeshadow or wear a gold eyeliner
■Best way to add a glimmer to the lips: Use a touch of Chanel Illusion d’Ombrein Fantasme on the center of the bottom lip over your favorite lipstick.
■Best way to add a glow to the cheeks/face: NARS Orgasm always adds a subtle glow to my cheeks.

    ■Your skin tone/coloring: medium/fair

■Best way to add sparkle to the eyes: maybe loose pigments ?

■Best way to add a glimmer to the lips: A pretty lipgloss with golden particules in it

■Best way to add a glow to the cheeks/face: A good highlighter either liquid Benefit High Beam or powder M.A.C liquid powder or Chanel loose powder in Féérie or Rêverie or Dior loose powder in Gold Dust

  10. Charlotte

    Your skin tone/coloring: Very Fair

Best way to add sparkle to the eyes:
I like to add a lovely highlight to my browbone, with a light frosty eyeshadow.
For my upper and lower lashline, a metallic bronze. I like to use The Balms Mary Lou Manizer on my brownbone and blend out (and add a little to my inner corners of my eyes). For the metallic bronze, I love Stila’s Smudge Pot in Bronze. (This is for an every day look, I wear this alot to work)

Best way to add a glimmer to the lips:
I’m not into glossses, but recently, i’ve been using a lovely metallic lipstick.
I love Loreal’s Project Runway Color Riche Lipstick in The Muse’s Kiss; It’s a gorgeous metallic coral/red and it’s perfect for the holidays!

Best way to add a glow to the cheeks/face:
I love a slightly glittery blush or I use a lovely shimmery highlighter, both together is way too much.
If i’m going with a glittery blush, I love NARS Super Orgasm blush. (You can’t use too much though, cause it does have the tendancy to show of your pores)
If I want to go with a shimmery highlighter, I use Femme Coutures Mineral Effects Baked Bronzer in Summer Kiss. It gives a lovely glow to the cheeks!(This is more of a highlight, than a bronzer) It’s a dupe for MAC’s Mineralize Skin Finishes! (You can only buy it at Sally’s Beauty Supply)

    • Profile wp-user-avatar wp-user-avatar-60 alignnone photo of Veronica Veronica

L’Oreal’s The Muse’s Kiss is just gorgeous. I wish I could get away with those orange-y corals because every blogger I’ve seen wear it just looks stunning in it. <3

  11. Profile wp-user-avatar wp-user-avatar-60 alignnone photo of Abbey Abbey

    Your skin tone/coloring: Very fair/neutral
Best way to add sparkle to the eyes: I love MAC Reflects glitter in the center of a smoky eye for an evening out. So sparkly! It sounds like I need to try Pixie Epoxy to go with it!
Best way to add a glimmer to the lips: I’ve been adding Nars Albatross lip gloss to everthing lately (especially Vintage lip tar). Such a pretty golden shimmer.
Best way to add a glow to the cheeks/face: I love Betty Lou-manizer and Girl Meets Pearl.

  12. Your skin tone/coloring: Fair and neutral-cool

Best way to add sparkle to the eyes: My favourite trick is to add a light coloured sparkly shadow to the inner corner of my eyes. My preferred one is Armani ETK #19 (silver/ gold shade)

Best way to add a glimmer to the lips: I don’t usually add anything too sparkly to my lips, but if I want to, I rich for a glossimer, Bobbi Brown’s high shimmer gloss or Mac Dazzleglass and just dab a little on the centre of my lips.

Best way to add a glow to the cheeks/face: If it’s more subtle, Nars Nico or Edward Bess South of France. If I want something to really highlight, Mac Lightscapade, which looks brighter and whiter.

  13. Profile wp-user-avatar wp-user-avatar-60 alignnone photo of Amy Amy

Skin/Coloring: Extremely fair (NC/NW 5-10) with neutral undertones. Chinese, black hair, and dark brown eyes.

Eyes: I find that a combo. of slightly shimmering white base with Tarina Tarantino’s Sparklicity in Opal patted on top with light lavender (like Beautiful Iris etc.) in the crease area with a brightened mid tone green on the other corner and light brightened mint in the corner of the eye with the lavender smudges lightly under the lower lash line gives a beautiful ethereal glow to my eyes.

Lips: Not sure don’t use shimmering lip colors much. I like MAC’s Warped Speed though, but it was LE.

Cheeks: Blush like Carved Rose from TT and cream blushes like Nyx Cream Blush in Red Cheeks and Tarte’s Cheek Stain in Dollface makes me glowy and doll-like. Highlighters like Benefit’s High Beam works but not my favorite. It’s patchy…Becca’s Shimmering Perfecter in Pearl is amazing. I also use MAC’s lipstick in Warped Speed (light silver with pink shimmers) :3 it looks kewl but definitely not for everyone.

  14. Christine lombardo

    Your skin tone/coloring: fair/ yellow undertone. Nw20

Best way to add sparkle to the eyes: Chanel Illusion d’ombre in Fantasme (no. 81). I wear it over any eye shadow. Grown up sparkle with not a ton of fallout

Best way to add a glimmer to the lips: love the ysl glosses. The holiday trios are amazing

Best way to add a glow to the cheeks/face: Dior amber diamond. Best highlighter ever!!!

  15. Your skin tone/coloring: NC05

Best way to add sparkle to the eyes: Glitter packed onto a solid shade. I’ve been loving Lit Glitters and Glitter baase but Hard Candy’s Show Girl’s Secret – Glitter Adhesive work good as a glitter base as well.

Best way to add a glimmer to the lips: a sparkly eyeshadow or loose pigment.

Best way to add a glow to the cheeks/face: pearl eyeshadow work well as a dewy/glow highlighter to any face just pick a shade that suits you best and buff it in.

  16. Profile wp-user-avatar wp-user-avatar-60 alignnone photo of Mariella Mariella

    Skintone/colouring: fair and cool
Best way to add sparkle to the eyes: a gold or champagne frosted eye shadow either on the inner lid or the centre of the lid (or inner 2/3 of the lid) I also like a product like Benefit RSVP cream eye shadow worn all over the lid, on its own or with another shadow overtop
Best way to add sparkle to the lips: Clarins Rouge Prodige lip glosses. They have fine shimmer in them but it’s not really visible as “glitter” when you apply them
Best way to add glow the cheeks/face: TheBalm’s Mary Lou Manizer or Guerlain Cruel Gardenia (you can’t overdo it with the latter – no worries about looking like a disco ball, even if you use it all over your face)

  17. Yellowlantern

    Your skin tone/coloring: NC20

Best way to add sparkle to the eyes: Any of Loreal’s Infallible eyeshadows or Armani’s Eyes To Kill shadows.

Best way to add a glimmer to the lips: Hourglass lipgloss in Imagine. Someday I’d like to get a Bobbi Brown High Shimmer Gloss too though.

Best way to add a glow to the cheeks/face: Benefit High Beam.

    Your skin tone/coloring: NC 40
Best way to add sparkle to the eyes: I love MUFE Star powders-I have the bronzey one

Best way to add a glimmer to the lips: don’t normally like shimmer on lips

Best way to add a glow to the cheeks/face: I don’t like shimmer on face normally, so I might use Strobe liquid for a bit of glow. On the rare occaision I want a stronger shine, I’d use a MAC shimmertone blush. I don’t own any other highlight type products for face.

  19. ak

Best way to add a glow to the cheeks/face: Bobbi Brown shimmerbrick, MAC MSF or Too Faced Candlelight are some of my faves.

Best way to add sparkle to the eyes: I like to use a shimmery golden eyeshadow in the center of the lid

Best way to add a glimmer to the lips: I usually don’t wear shimmery lip colors, but I like MAC Dazzleglasses.
Best way to add a glow to the cheeks/face: MAC Mineralize Skinifinsh in Soft & Gentle on the top’s of your cheekbones, bridge of your nose, and cupid’s bow.

  26. Mischa

    Your skin tone/coloring: NC20

Best way to add sparkle to the eyes: smudged on to black line for a smokey look, or on the center of the lid to add dimension.

Best way to add a glimmer to the lips:Dab something like vex or amber lights to the center of a red lip. awesome.

Best way to add a glow to the cheeks/face: mix a shimmer eyeshadow to aquaphor and use as a highlight on the cheeks. helps for a dewier look with dry skin when some powders emphasize dryness.

  27. Your skin tone/coloring: Fair, Cool toned (mac nw15)

Best way to add sparkle to the eyes: I really can’t pick the bets way but lately I’ve been layering glitter liner over liquid liner and really loving it.

Best way to add a glimmer to the lips: Highlighting the cupids bow! It looks glam AND makes your lips look fuller win-win!

Best way to add a glow to the cheeks/face: I like to layer a powder highlighter over a cream or a liquid. (Like mac silver dusk over benefit high beam for example) It makes it really glow, AND it keep it on all day.

  28. Profile wp-user-avatar wp-user-avatar-60 alignnone photo of Veronica Veronica

    Your skin tone/coloring: Fair, cool-toned.
Best way to add sparkle to the eyes: I prefer shimmery to sparkly, so I’ll use a bright, shimmery/frosted shade on the main part of the lid, then a darker matte on the corner sweeping into the crease to frame the center of the eye.
Best way to add a glimmer to the lips: I don’t own too many shimmery lipsticks – I usually just add a shimmery lipgloss over top. Revlon released some really gorgeous LE shades for their holiday collection that are perfect.
Best way to add a glow to the cheeks/face: Oh highlighter, let me count the ways I love you. Guerlain Meteorites and NARS Copacabana carry a special place in my heart.

  29. CeeBee

Skin tone: Light, warm toned yellow base.

Eyes: I LURVE shimmer, Stila Kitten or She Nymph Shimmer Dust are favourites and can be layered lightly over brighter or deeper eyeshadows to soften the colour and added a nice sheen. Jordana loose eyeshadow in Heather gives a nice wash with beautiful gold glitter.
For liners, I can’t go past MAC Pearlglides, love these.

Lips: Sparkly lipgloss! Bobbi Brown, Dior, Philosophy and NYX all make some standout shimmery glosses. I love Chanel Sideral glossimer for a splash of glittery pink glam.

Face: Scott Barnes Diamond Dust (if you can find it anywhere) or Laura Mercier Stardust loose powder for all over. For cheeks only, I can’t go past Sleek blushes in Rose Gold and Sunrise – amazingly pigmented and they have such a pretty gold gleam to them (and they last all day). For a cheek highlighter, Edward Bess All over Shimmer Cream, ridiculously expensive for a tiny amount, but boy is it gorgeous. The texture is incredible.

Best way to add a glimmer to the lips: Clear lipgloss with multicolored microglitter.

Best way to add sparkle to the eyes: I love MACs veluxe pearl eyeshadows (Star Violet and Woodwinked are my favorites), as well as MUFE star powder (944 is my favorite).
Best way to add a glimmer to the lips: Lipgloss in the center of the lip to make them look fuller. MAC Dazzleglass in Moth to Flame is a good one.
Best way to add a glow to the cheeks/face: Benefit’s One Hot Minute. I wish I knew why Sephora stopped carrying this :(

  38. Lark

Pale, blue. Eyes? Sephora Gliter liner, line, then use a synthetic brush to spread it thin on temples or where ever. Sticks on great, very flashy!

Lips. On my second tube of L’Oreal Infallible lipgloss in red with gold pearl. Christine hated it- More for me to hoard! I have white tie balls and cocktail parties till March. Or, sparkly pigment pressed into lipstick. But it winds up on ones drink glass.

Glow? MAC Rose pigment as blush. Careful, a little goes a long way. I’m liking MSF in Soft n Gentle all over for a metallic glow, it’s a good gold for me. I ditch blush- this stuff will carve right gaunt cheekbones. This is totally evening and carry it down onto collar bones etc.

  39. Your skin tone/coloring: African-Canadian/American….deep caramel skin w/ red undertones
Best way to add sparkle to the eyes: Pure pigments – MUFE, Chanel, ELF in bright bright colours :)
Best way to add a glimmer to the lips: Lots of gloss over rich plums, reds, magentas…i like to get lippy.
Best way to add a glow to the cheeks/face: Guerlian meteorites powder, Nars illuminator (super orgassm)korres wild rose powder, hard candy illuminating powder and cheek cream blush stick…

  40. Micaela

Skin tone: Very fair with a pink undertone, UD’s Naked Foundation in .5 is a pretty close match!

Sparkle to eyes: Shimmery/Iridescent eyeshadow! Recently I’ve been using Too Faced Satin Sheets from the naked eye palette! I also think black eyeliner with a little shimmer in it looks good.

Glimmer to Lips: Sometimes I add a little loose glittery eyeshadow to my lips! I also like MAC Cockney lipstick (Lustre), has glitter in it and is glossy!

Glow to cheeks/face: Milani’s baked blush in Dolce Pink it a shimmery warm light pink with gold iridescence. It looks very natural and adds a light glow because of the gold glitter. I also like using Benefits High Beam on my cheekbones!

  41. Profile wp-user-avatar wp-user-avatar-60 alignnone photo of Ruca Ruca

I’m an NC15/20, or 2.0 in UD’s Naked Skin. Blue eyes; Strawberry blond hair.

Best sparkle EYES: Lit Cosmetics Glitter! BAM!!! NO GLITTER; NO GLORY! Several MAC Pro glitters are awesome, too (Reflects Gold!).

Glimmer LIPS: MAC Metallic or Pearl/Frost loose pigments OR Sugarpill’s Chromolusts in Goldilux, Tiara, or Lumi stippled on top of a favorite lipstick or gloss, or just patted in the center of the bottom lip’s pout.

Glow CHEEKS: Always a fan of MACs MSFs! NARS Albatross is nice, too. You can also take one of the Pearlized loose pigments and apply that lightly across the cheekbones with a finger or a soft fan or blending brush. Estee Lauder’s Re Nutriv loose setting powder has crushed pearls in it, so that’s my favorite for an all-over, natural glow.

  42. Smoky

-Didnt find my perfect foundation yet, as am very pale yellow-pistachio green icecream skin, which translates to olive, but a very very pale one, closest foundation that caters for my yellowness ( but not for my olivness) is Bourjois Bio Detox 52
    – Definately applying an eyeshadow that is the opposite colour of the eyes ( colour wheel), mine are grey-green and i like purples, burgandys and taupes.
    – lips look the nicest when full and well moisturized, so plenty of regenerating eye cream to be applied on lips at night.
    – a perfect matte salmony/coraly shade blush on the cheeks works wonders, much better than bronzers and shimmers…
