Happy Sunday!

How are you today?  Has your weekend been lovely and relaxing so far?  We had dinner at my parents last night, where my mom made her first attempt at sushi, along with lobster tempura (the best!) and hamachi shots (amazing!).  I’m a total sucker for my mom’s food :)  Are their any dishes that only someone in your family can do best? That you’d happily travel cross-country to taste again?

Before you go, here are some of my favorite reads from the week…

My mom makes amazing brussel sprouts-sounds a little strange-but they are delicious! It really takes the vegetable to unhealthy territory-first they are boiled and then she adds butter ,vinegar, and brown sugar to the cooked product, and mixes it all together. Everyone (who likes brussel sprouts ) fights over them every Thanksgiving.I think it’s a German recipe. I’m a sucker for my husband’s cooking-he has won awards for his salsa. He makes everything from scratch and uses a lot of new and healthy things- like nopales, and cilantro and avocado in his dishes ( He is Mexican ) The problem is I don’t see him much, and he doesn’t enjoy cooking like he used to. What are hamachi shots?

    • My husband LOVES brussel sprouts! Green beans are his vegetable nemesis, but he loves brussel sprouts!

      Your husband’s cooking sounds amazing!

There’s a steakhouse in the bay area called Alexander’s, and they do hamachi shots, which is hamachi, avocado, ginger, chili, and ponzu in a shot glass! My mom was trying to dupe ‘em!
