Happy Sunday!

How has your weekend been?  We were up in Sonoma yesterday to celebrate my brother-in-law Nick’s birthday (also one of our resident tech guys).  Mellan also met a cat for the first time; of course, by meet, I mean, they were a couple of feet away at all times as the cat really wanted nothing to do with Mellan whatsoever.  Mellan, on the other hand, stared intently at him and wiggled his tail rapidly the whole time.

Mellan. Poor guy. He looks so harmless and friendly. I thinks he just wants some pal to pal around with him and all these other animals stay away….still waiting to see Mimi..

  3. Tee hee, Mellan :D

(Mellan mentions are my absolute favourite — I’m usually terrified of dogs, but he sounds like such a sweetheart!)

  4. Hahaha I can imagine that scenario so clearly – Mellan’s thinking “what IS that and can I play with it??” and the cat is like “…no. Just no.” Makes me laugh so much :D

  5. Aww Mellan..no kitty love for you? We have a barn cat, Lizzy Elizabeth, who lives in the heated area of our barn complex. She came with the farm when we bought it 5 years ago. For the first 2 months, we couldn’t get near her and she was very feral, but we kept her because she’s a cool cat and a superb mouser. Over the months that followed, we developed a good friendship and now she even loves belly rubs, but hell don’t try and pick her up. Pity my vet who spayed her and gives her her shots each year!!! Of my 4 dogs, she tolerates the presence of 3 and only because they do not really bother with her. Digger, the mini dachshund, on the other hand, would kill her in a heartbeat. He has no visitation rights. No love there.

    • Mellan looks at all furry things as friends to play with (as far as I can tell), but he probably gives off the most crazy-over-excited energy a dog can give off. I didn’t let him get TOO close (as close as two feet, and Mellan was on a leash the whole time), because frankly, I had no desire to make any ER trips over the holiday weekend.
