How You Can Submit to Temptalia
We’re taking reader submissions for the month of November! We welcome all types of content, whether you want to share a review on the most-awesome-product-ever or a look you couldn’t believe turned out so fabulously (or a tutorial on how others can achieve that same look!). You can submit your work to us, and you just may find yourself featured on Temptalia!
When you send your submission, please be sure to include your:
- Name
- Brief, three-sentence bio
- Your website (if applicable)
- Photo of yourself — like a headshot (optional)
For specific submission requirements (like photo sizes and the like), please keep reading!
Note on Exclusivity: Content that is written or produced exclusively for Temptalia is strongly preferred, but content replicated on only one additional source (e.g. you wrote a review on MakeUpAlley or your own blog) will still be considered — we just have a definite preference for exclusivity, so please keep that in mind when submitting. Please be sure to let us know if the content has been previously published or not and where.
Looks
- Three (3) high quality photos minimum — it’s better for you to send the largest size (don’t worry about “clogging” up my mailbox with big photos!)
- Photos must be at least 550 pixels wide (but prefer 800 pixels or larger) and contain no watermarks
- Color accurate photos
- Detailed list of products you used
- A brief description about your look or what inspired you
Reviews
- 300 word minimum (no maximum)
- Reader-photographed product/swatches (that means you take the photo, not a company-supplied one) and contain no watermarks
- Use our rating system (and see an example of it in use)
- Disclosure if applicable
Tutorials
- Three (3) high quality photos minimum — it’s better for you to send the largest size (don’t worry about “clogging” up my mailbox with big photos!) of the finished look
- Clear and concise instructions
- Step-by-step photos or video
- Photos must be at least 550 pixels wide (but prefer 800 pixels or larger) and contain no watermarks / Video must be available in HQ or HD
- Detailed list of products you used
- A brief description about your look or what inspired you
If you have questions, please don’t hesitate to ask! Thank you!

Hi Rashi,
Have you seen my foundation tutorials? That’s my foundation routine – http://www.youtube.com/temptalia
I don’t use primers generally, as I find it unnecessary (for me)!

I’m really happy to hear you’re enjoying Bronze, Cranberry, and Margin :) Hope you’re coming up with some great combos!
I can’t do a big tutorial even if I wanted to because we can only upload 10 minute videos at a time (many of the foundation tutorials I actually go straight into a look that’s also on YT!).

Oooh i can’t wait to see what people come up with! i’m tempted to try something myself-its just hard since i really only have one or two days a week i can wear makeup(as its not permitted at work) That and my camera is crap for getting pictures of makeup. So nothings looked true to form yet. Sigh.
I hope we have really pale people submitting dramatic looks since it definitely comes across different, and i’m looking for good primers/all over color lids for fair skin. Using Painterly, but its still showing up dark on me, i want something paler! (waaah!)

Me neither! Can’t wait, and I hope we get some great submissions :)
I replied to your camera dilemma but let me know if you need any more help!

Thanks for the reply on the other thread-I looked up my cameras manual and pretty much confirmed that it DOESNT have any macro function. Really, it has a flash, and a zoom, but none of the other fancier modes. I shouldn’t be surprised, its reliable, but VERY VERY basic. Still trying to figure out what i want to replace it with—its TEDIOUS looking all the other models up! I probably need to just get down to the store to handle things and write down the models i want to watch. Might be less of a headache. I’m just so frustrated at my makeup shots all coming out bizarrely out of proportion! I have yet to get really good shots of anything i’ve done because of it! Hmmm. Maybe i should just tell the boyfriend what i’m looking for and suggest it as a christmas gift. He might go along with it, since he already uses my camera to do graphic design projects that I’m sure would benefit from teh use of a better camera….

Canon PowerShots are pretty good and I know a lot of people use them to take their photos :)

How exciting! So many things in mind! Couple of questions – can readers submit only one entry? What is the deadline for content submission?
Tuesday, November 3, 2009
Nope, readers are welcome to submit however many they’d like. It’s on-going (we have always accepted these submissions), but I’m trying to put out a monthly call for them for those who don’t know :)

I’m excited! I’ve always wanted to start a blog but am toooo lazy! Its a good way to get your (well, readers) ideas out there! Will be thinking of some stuff.

Can’t wait :D

One question you want three different pictures or three pictures of the same look?
Wednesday, November 4, 2009
Three pictures of the same look, but they should be slightly different photos (I don’t need three of the exact same pose, I suppose is what I mean to say!).
Wednesday, November 4, 2009
I can’t wait to send in my look!
Just a question though, if we have a look with all the requirements, can we also send in a tutorial on how to do it if we have one? Just want to make sure!
Wednesday, November 4, 2009
Yes, that’s fine :) But do let me know if you have a tutorial for it in advance!
Wednesday, November 4, 2009
Thanks for answering so fast! That’s good, since I do tutorials with all my looks. Ha ha. (:

I think these posts are a great idea, this will create even more interaction on your blog, among you and your readers. If I come up with something nice, I’ll submit it.

I hope you do, Chiara :)
