Stila’s Summer Collection features a stunning quad, the Charmed palette ($28.00), which I am sure instantly created some temptation! The colors featured in the palette are a mid-tone copper, warm gold, intense teal, and deep burgundy.
The color themselves are quite lovely, as they swatch well with rich pigmentation. I’d describe the colors more of a coppery-pink, warm coppery-gold, teal with green undertones, and a brown-burgundy. The texture is smooth and silky, easily blending into the skin and no fall out problems.
The only issue I had with the palette was the packaging itself. The gold coloring and the detailing on the outside was beautiful, but it feels like it’s all cardboard. The clear part (where you can see the shadows) is super thin plastic–like what you might find on top of shadows. I’d have preferred something more durable. Otherwise, this palette is superb, and it is totally worth $28!

The purple shadow swatches much darker that it looks! But all the colors are so pretty, I may have to buy this as my first venture in to Stila.

I feel like we are seeing this cardboard-like packaging more and more. I really dislike it for convenience but especially considering the prices on some of these lines I think it is outrageous that they give us such shoddy packaging. I think it’s really a turnoff…at least for me.

Personally, I like the cardboard-y packaging because I tend to break and chip my plastic ones. These have been more durable, even though it feels like they ought not to be…maybe it’s just my luck, though.
Also, it’s nice that paper is a renewable resource and plastic isn’t.

I don’t really mind that it’s cardboard either, though I know some would want to know that upfront so definitely had to mention it!
I didn’t like the thin sheet of plastic on the cover — that felt cheap and flimsy :(
Christine

The cardboard itself doesn’t really bother me one way or the other (plastic = cardboard in my book in terms of quality), but the thin plastic part bugged me!

I’m wondering if these colors are similar to anything from their permanent line?
Christine

I don’t know Stila’s permanent line very well unfortunately, so I can’t help you out in that area!

Lovely palette. The designs on the bottom look a lot like “bindi’s” which many South Asian women wear on the middle of their foreheads during South Asian festivities.
Christine
Friday, March 20, 2009
Yeah, I definitely think the design may have been inspired by that :)

Hi Christine, is the pink in this palette similar to French Cuff from the MAC BBR collection?
Christine

Hmm, it’s probably a lil’ pinker, but they’re similar!

this colors are GORGEOUS! but they look a bit glittery like the urban decay wallpaper pallet and the bax i am personally not a fan or cardboard.
Christine
Friday, March 20, 2009
They do feel similar to the UD shadows, so I imagine if you aren’t a fan of shimmery shadows, these aren’t for you!

This is drool worthy, especially loving the teal and burgundy. Though I know I can’t wear teal as I tend towards warmer colours. Any tips to overcome this?

Thursday, March 19, 2009
Can you warm up teal by putting gold over it?
Christine
Thursday, March 19, 2009
You definitely could! Though it would change the color a bit. I’d probably try layering it with a warmer green base.
Christine
Friday, March 20, 2009
You could try wearing a warmer green underneath the teal to brighten it!

In the palette the colors didn’t look so appealing but now that you swatched it really does! Do you know if the $10 dollar deal is also in stores?

It will be $10 in stores on the 18th at Sephoras :)

GORGEOUS! I’ve wanted this ever since I first saw the summer previews. My CP gal snagged one of the $10 ones for me so I am super excited. :D Although, she said some of the Sephoras are telling her they’re not going to carry the rest of the collection (already on the Stila site)? That’s really weird if Sephora won’t sell the rest of it. Do you have any idea if that’s true or not?
Christine
Monday, June 29, 2009
Glad you managed to score the $10 palette, Skyler :D
I don’t think this is true… I haven’t heard this from Stila!
