i had great success cleaning these kinds of sponges using olive oil prior to washing with soap. olive oil dissolve foundation stains, including dimethicones/silicones. right after rubbing sponge with OO, don’t rinse, but right away rub liquid soap. then rinse.

I agree the effect the SK sponge gives is really flawless, but for those wanting to buy this..I’ve had it (I have the purple one, im not sure if the blue one is still available) for about 3 months and it STAINS. There’s no way you’re going to get around having a permanent orange-ish tint to the top and bottom of the sponge. And if you try to clean it thoroughly, enough to get out the stain, you’re going to get chunks of the sponge falling out. Which is another problem: not necessarily chunks, but small tears do appear after a while. I clean my sponge well after each use, and I know its clean..so the staining isnt a problem with me.
