I love Nordstrom’s Anniversary sale for two reasons:  exclusive MAC Collection, and I can actually afford a few non-beauty items carried by Nordstrom.  I’m a budget shopper for the most part; beauty is the only thing I go “luxury” on often enough.  I’m the girl who shops at Forever 21, Mervyns, and H&M, and I don’t even shop for clothes more than two or three times a year.  But there is something tempting and fun about the idea of shopping at Nordstrom’s and not just a trip to the MAC counter.

First row…

  • Juicy Coutoure ‘Maxwell’ Flaticon ($129.90) Patent deep, blood red flats?  Hello?  Doesn’t this have my name all over it?  But sigh, I think I’d cry if I broke down and bought these.  They’re a bit out of my budget (mostly, I think of how many shoes I already have, and how many I’ve yet to wear…).
  • Nike ‘Free Prima’ Mary Janeicon ($42.90) I can purchase these and feel better about myself (somewhat, at least!), because I’ve been in the market for some cute flats that actually offer a modicum of support and won’t said a chiropractor running for the hills.  It’s too bad Nordie’s doesn’t carry those FitFlops I wanted - I think I might haul myself over to Macy’s to check them out.
  • Puma ‘Sabadella’ Sneakericon ($42.90) Again, like the Nike’s, these might work for comfort and cute — as cute as a sneaker can be (hate sneakers, fyi).  I like these more than the Nike ones, I think, but I’m always drawn to very clean, white kind of sneakers.
  • Kenna-T Motorcycle Jacketicon ($299.90) (HEY, that’s down from $484!) I have always wanted a motorcycle jacket.  Something about it just screams “BADASS!”  I can dream, right?

Second row…

  • George Simonton Studio Drop Waist Coaticon ($198.90) (HEY, that’s down from $298!) I am a sucker for fall/winter coats, even though I have a few that I seldomly wear.  My problem is the coat works for outdoors, but I’m mostly indoors.  I hate hauling around a thick/heavy coat around the mall, school, whatever, so I end up freezing my bottom off from the car to whatever building I’m heading to more often than not.
  • Rubbish Button Front Hoodyicon ($33.90) This is totally what I’d get instead of a heavier wool coat (which, by the way, in California?  Not nearly as heavy as elsewhere in the country!  Heavy to us is probably lightweight to you.)  I might get this, because it’s reasonably in my budget, but I have to see how it fits first.
  • ABS by Allen Schwartz Belted High Waist Dressicon ($158.90) Totally and ridiculously cute.  Love this dress/cut.  I don’t know how nice it’d look on me, but damn, I wish I had an occasion that I could buy this for.  It would be the perfect excuse!
  • BCBGMAXAZRIA Cable Sweater Dressicon ($109.90) Despite having a price tag I can better stomach, I look ridiculous in sweater dresses.  I love sweater dresses.  I’ve bought a few cheapies in the past few years, but I look utterly terrible in them!  Sigh.

Third row…

  • Philosophy Purity Made Simpleicon ($42.50) Everybody raves about Philosophy!  Some have even said this cleanser has changed their life.  I have yet to try it… (And this is supposed to be a $64 value, and I’m all over beauty with a discount.)
  • MAC Colour Forms Powdericon ($24.50) I’m excited!  I get to pick up my pre-order (and probably pick up some more items, ha!) of two things (I believe it they were Royal Flush pigment and Sun Centered CF Powder).
  • Lancome Juicy Tubes Warm Seticon ($25.00) Again, everybody loves Juicy Tubes, but I think I only have one.  What better way to stock up than getting this set?  Then again, I just did some makeup inventorying last night, and I pretty much have no space for more makeup.  It’s already overflowing, and I have boxes of products I haven’t (and maybe will never) gotten to.
  • PerriconeMD 30-Day Introductory Kiticon ($55.00) I like this kit, because it gives you the opportunity to try a bunch of products over four weeks (which is a good period of time when testing new skincare).  You can determine if it works for you, and if it doesn’t, you didn’t waste your money on full size, huge honkin’ bottles and jars.

I’m with you on the buying clothes…I only shop for cheap clothes, and only like twice a year.

Philosophy Purity cleanser is seriously a must-try. I really love it because it’s gentle, feels good, smells good (like eucalyptus), and really gets the job done.

Hi Heather,

Glad I’m not alone! I just can’t get into pricey clothes. I mean, I’ll drool over clothes of all kinds - when I window shop, I don’t price discriminate! And shoes, well, I’ll spend decent money on it, but going over $100 is hard. I don’t do that so much since I have forty pairs of heels collecting dust!

I didn’t end up with Philosophy’s Purity, but hey, the sale continues for another two weeks, LOL.

That’s definitely me, too! Oh, nice :D I haven’t bought makeup from H&M before. I don’t even know if I’ve seen it at my H&Ms before, lol!

I picked up my MAC order and that’s all I came home with.
I was personally unimpressed.

Hi Aprilrobin,

You know, I wasn’t totally psyched over the shoes this year! Normally, I am DROOLING. That’s probably a good thing, though, for me, that it wasn’t impressive, LOL.

Hi Jess,

I have tried a product or two, but not long term, so I can’t testify to the results. I know what you mean, though - spotted some wrinkling under my eyes (and promptly went NO, WTFUDGE!), ugh.

The Hillsdale Nordstrom was crazy! However, I was able to get out in one piece with my Colour Forms goodies. =D

Hi LaQuesta,

It’ll be available at least a month, just depending on what sells out or what doesn’t, you know?

You really should try Purity Made Simple! I like it quite a bit, though it might not be good for oily skin types. It’s very moisturizing. :)

Hi Kirsten,

LOL! Gosh, your poor bank account :)

I’m such a simple girl, that’s probably why, when it comes to clothes. In the summer, I wear tank tops and cropped jeans. In the winter, sweaters tops and jeans!

Hi Diann,

LOL! It’s really only the shoe department that you have to get to EARLY. I’ve found most of the clothes are still available over the remainder of the sale!
