Sephora Snakeskin Dress (02) Eyeshadow ($13.00 for 0.07 oz.) is described as a “shimmering golden khaki.” It’s a warm, olive green with a golden olive shimmer-sheen. It has a frosted finish and brown undertones. Urban Decay Jealous is lighter and greener. Urban Decay Mildew is greener and less golden. Tarina Tarantino Dandy Lion is very similar in color but less frosted. Inglot #419 is more olive, less green/yellow. Le Metier de Beaute Chameleon is more olive, way less green.

Applied dry, it has a more frosted finish and is a touch powdery, but the overall color payoff is good. Applied damp, it went on more smoothly and resulted in a softer frost finish with a stronger sheen. It seemed about as pigmented use either way. I tested this shade yesterday, and it wore well for a full ten hours–no fading or creasing–without primer, which is the time Sephora claimed. The texture was soft, smooth, and just a smidgen powdery.  Snakeskin Dress applied well with good color payoff, easy blending, and looked even and smooth on the lid.

The new, reformulated Sephora eyeshadows are also designed to be used in palettes, and each compact has a small indent where a key fits into it in order to lift out the pan and place it into the palette. It’s easy to get the pans in and out without nicking the edges, and the palettes have the same indentation, so you can transfer to and from with the same level of ease. I think these are a bit higher priced than I’d expect, though you get more eyeshadow than the average pan (0.07 oz. vs. 0.05 oz.).  I wish they sold the pans separately, too, because then for those who don’t care about having a pot, they wouldn’t have to pay for it either.
