It was late in 2008 when I discovered the awesomeness that is Calvin Klein’s Light Glistening Gloss. It’s priced just a little bit more than MAC lipglass, but it feels amazing. I love the color range, and the subtle shimmer and high glossy shine it gives is stunning.

Here are my ten final picks for 2008!

It will be interesting to see if any lipstick will top YSL’s Rouge Volupte formula for me in 2009. I adored the utterly creamy nature of the Rouge Volupte formula, not to mention how richly pigmented each color was–no matter how pale or light. I found that these melted on my lips and stayed in place really well, too.

MAC’s Studio Fix Fluid continued to be my go-to for foundation, despite trying out several different kinds throughout the year. The matte, light-to-medium coverage was just perfect. I just picked up Make Up For Ever’s HD foundation a week ago, though… so who knows what 2009 will bring!

Make Up For Ever’s HD Primer feels really lightweight and it isn’t silicone-y like Smashbox Photofinish (which broke me out horribly). It helps keep my foundation looking fresher longer! I’ve definitely taken a liking to wearing primers underneath my makeup.

Kate Somerville’s Oil-Free Moisturizer may be pricey, but it works and does its job really well. The best part? It doesn’t break me out whatsoever; in fact, it’s so great for sensitive skin that it may have contributed to helping my face heal from an intensive product-related break out. I like this as a lightweight, day-time moisturizer.

Lancome Bi-Facil is my favorite, too! There’s really just no better makeup remover for me. I only use Bi-Facil on my lips and eyes (which is pretty much what you’re supposed to do), and I never have any issues getting every last vestige of makeup off.

I love Philosophy’s 3-in-1 shower gels! There are so many scents to choose from, and they’re constantly coming out with seasonal offerings, which makes it fun to try them out and switch up my shower gels. I use a loofah, so that’s why I count this as a body scrub–there’s no better way to use the shower gels than with one!

St. Ives Apricot Scrub is not just the best favorite body scrub this year, but it’s the best Facial Cleanser/Scrub! It won with 16% of votes, with Cetaphil trailing in second place with 12% of votes. MAC’s Volcanic Ash Exfoliator came in third place with 11% of votes.

MAC Mineralize Skinfinish Natural won by a landslide with a huge margin of 17%, coming in with 35% of votes. Make Up For Ever’s HD Microfinish Powder finds itself in second place with 18% of votes. MAC Blot Powder comes in third place with 17% of votes, just barely losing to HD.

MAC Select Tint is just barely the favorite, with 24% of the vote, but it’s enough to put Laura Mercier’s Tinted Moisturizer in second place, with 23% of the vote. Clinique’s Moisture Sheer Tint (which I didn’t even know existed!) came in third place with 11% of your votes.

NARS Orgasm wins this category, and it’s really not shocking, as 30% of you considered it the best everyday blush of the year. MAC Dainty, which came out in 2008, came in second with 14% of the votes. Another MAC favorite was Stark Naked, which made third place with 11% of the votes.

Neutrogena Dry-Touch was voted into first place as the best sunscreen of 2008 with 26% of the votes. MAC Prep + Prime (Face) SPF50 trailed first only slightly, coming in second place with 22% of the vote. Clinique’s City Block got itself into third with 15% of the vote.

MAC Lipstick is *THE* lipstick to own with a commanding 44% of votes to nail first place. MAC’s new Cremesheen lipsticks were in second place with 25% of votes. NARS Lipstick, despite being voted some of the worst lipsticks in a recent Hit List post on Temptalia, took third place with 9% of votes.

Make Up For Ever HD replaces MAC Studio Fix Fluid as your top foundation of the year, with 18% of the vote. But don’t despair, Studio Fix Fluid still holds second place with 15% of votes, while its powder counterpart comes in third with 14% of votes.

Smashbox Photo Finish continues its winning streak with 34% of you lovin’ it as your primer of choice. MAC’s Prep + Prime (Face) captured 23% of votes making it second in this category. Make Up For Ever’s Primer falls in third with 10% of votes.

Olay/Oil of Olay squeaked into first place just barely, with a mere four votes separating it from second place winner Clinique Dramatically Different Moisturizing Gel/Lotion. In third place was Cetaphil, a solid and dermatologist-recommend choice. The voting in this category was particularly skewed, with no one nominee receiving more than 14% of total votes.

If you thought the race was tight between Facial Moisturizers, it was even closer in this category! Lancome Bi-Facil beat out MAC Makeup Remover Wipes by 2 votes. TWO! Bi-Facil takes first place, with MAC’s Removing Wipes come in second. Cilnique’s Take the Day Off comes in third, only slightly behind the two front runners.

St. Ives Apricot Scrub is the favorite body scrub of 25% of you. Bath & Body Works’ Scrubs takes second place with 16% of votes. MAC’s limited edition Volcanic Ash Exfoliator comes in third place with 14% of votes.

MAC Brushes take the prize this year with 26% of total votes going towards the “MAC Brushes” selection. Coming in second was MAC’s 187 Brush on its lonesome with 16% of votes. Shu Uemura’s Eyelash Curler received a respectable 15% of votes, placing third overall.

MAC Fluidline comes in as the top eyeliner of the year, receiving 32% of votes. Urban Decay’s 24/7 Eye Liners came in second place, but they trailed first significantly, having only received 24% of votes. MAC’s Pearlglide Liners squeaked into third place with 9% of votes.

Urban Decay Primer Potion continues to reign surprise with a whopping 43% of votes cast in this category. MAC gets some love with their Paint Pots coming in second with 30% of votes. Surprisingly, despite being lauded as UDPP but better, Too Faced Shadow Insurance lands itself in third place with 14% of the votes.

CoverGirl Lash Blast sweeps Dior off its feet and places first with 18% of votes. DiorShow still holds strong in second place with 15% of votes. MAC Plushlash manages third place, despite many beauty addicts swearing off MAC mascaras, with 12% of votes.

Maybelline Great Lash is no great surprise, as it is often said to be an overhyped product. 34% of you seemed to think it was the worst mascara of the year. CoverGirl Lash Blast, despite working for many of you, didn’t work well enough for 12% of you, which put it in second place. MAC Zoomlash is not so favored either, coming in third, with 10% of votes.

MAC Dazzleglass takes another category! Winning with 28% of votes cast, Dazzleglass is showing itself as a formula worth making permanent, wouldn’t you say so? MAC Lipglass comes in second place with 22% of votes, while MAC Lustreglass takes third with 12%. Looks like MAC is your go-to for glosses!

Is it really shocking that MAC won by a total and utter landslide? NARS and Urban Decay were second and third respectively, but they were just nowhere near the level of popularity as MAC for 2008!

MAC Dazzleglasses really won over your hearts this year with its glittery, glossy formula! Rumors of future permanence since their original release have abounded, but hopefully this spring we’ll see some confirmation. MAC’s Hello Kitty launch in February will see an additional two dazzleglasses launched for the Kitty Kouture Collection–you just might want to snag one to see what the hype is about! In second place, MAC’s new mineralize blushes, while Make Up For Ever’s HD Foundation/Powder was shortly behind in third place.

Cult of Cherry truly stood out as a collection that offered something for a lot of you, as it was a clear frontrunner in the awards! With nearly 10% less votes, Fafi for MAC came in second, while Heatherette trailed swiftly after in third place.

Suite Array won fair and square–completely ahead by the votes as MAC’s worst release of 2008. Dame Edna was significantly behind, but it fell in second place; with Emanuel Ungaro in third place.

Urban Decay takes the prize with their Potion! They were ahead by a mere 2%, with Urban Decay 24/7 Pencils coming in second (go UD!)–which barely beat out CoverGirl’s Lash Blast Mascara that came in third. I’m pretty surprised at the way the votes went here. I definitely see it coming!

With Suite Array voted the worst MAC Collection, it’s not surprisingly that Suite Array eyeshadows were voted the most disappointing. Nearly 40% of total votes went towards Suite Aray! MAC’s Metal-x eyeshadows came in second with 17% of votes. CoverGirl’s Last Blast Mascara and MAC Mineralized eyeshadows tied for third with 10% of total votes.
