Rescue Beauty Lounge Santa Fe Nail Lacquer
Rescue Beauty Lounge Santa Fe Nail Lacquer

Take a Seat and Enjoy the Hues of Santa Fe

Rescue Beauty Lounge Santa Fe Nail Lacquer ($20.00 for 0.50 fl. oz.) is described as “an aerial view of Santa Fe; the baked earth tones of ocher with shimmering, glistening ubiquitous dotted greens.” It’s a slightly subdued, terracotta-tinged medium orange with light-medium orange-gold shimmer. Though the description mentions dotted greens, there’s nothing that really represents that concept in the polish itself (the brand’s descriptions are often more inspirational than they are one-for-one descriptions, at least with this launch). I don’t have anything in my stash that seems to look this–it’s definitely orange, but it’s not really bright, and there’s no red in it. Zoya Myrta is darker and red-orange. Nails Inc. Porchester Place is more orange, brighter. Illamasqua gamma comes the closest, but it’s brighter–reads more Halloween orange than desert orange. I’d love for you to suggest any potential dupes!

The consistency of Santa Fe wasn’t too thick or too thin, though if I had to say it leaned one way or the other, it would be just barely thick.  It was fully opaque after two coats of polish, and I didn’t experience any bubbling, streaking, or pooling of the polish along the edges of the nail.  The micro-shimmer in this shade definitely shows up in natural light as well as brighter light, so I really thought it added more depth to the base color.  There were very slight brush strokes visible under brighter light (like diffused flash).  I typically get a full week of wear with Rescue Beauty Lounge’s formula and very minimal tip wear (but no chipping).

  1. I haven’t tried this formula yet, but I am finding myself becoming a fan while seeing photos and reading reviews.  I do not understand the hype over the brand A England whereas RBL really does seem to have some very attractive offerings.  This is such an interesting shade of orange.  I will not buy this because it is all wrong for my skin tones, but I can certainly admire the look.  I love supporting the little independent guys too.  Another bonus, the chances of coming across someone wearing the same nail enamel out here where probably 99.9% of the population a) doesn’t care and b) hasn’t even heard of RBL, is  so infinitesimally small quite appeals to me.I would really love to see this particular colour on deep dark skin..ooohh, that would be so pretty!

    •  I think A England has a lot of holos? A lot of people love the dimension of holographic glitter/shimmer :) I believe I have one or two bottles in my to-review bin for polishes, but I can’t remember actually trying one yet.

I really want to try this brand but I can’t at $20 bucks a pop. It is JUST too much. I will buy a Chanel formula every now and then, but that’s seriously….every now and then and only one. RBL has a lot of shades that I really want, but a lot of them are now discontinued :( I will say that the shades for the gomm line are very pretty, but it’s also hard for me to buy sight unseen.

    • MIRIANV Maybe wait for the right RBL shade to really grab you! The one thing that’s a bummer is shipping. I hate paying for shipping on *anything* – so I’m glad she started making more colors per collection so that if you bought the whole thing, at least you’d get free shipping…If RBL has a good return policy (I honestly don’t remember what it is!), maybe it’d be easier to buy sight unseen? But if not, I totally understand. It’s definitely a brand that is easier to buy from sight unseen once you’ve tried a few polishes. I was lucky to catch her last 50% off sale a couple of years back, otherwise I don’t know if I would have ever bought as much!

Christine-Temptalia I am exactly the type of person that splurges when a shade grabs my attention! right now there are only one or two shades that I would really go for. The last time I splurged it was on Chanel Suspicious! So gorgeous, wore it for 3 weeks straight.

MIRIANV She has to take down the line soon. The Georgia O’keeffe’s estate sent RBL a cease and desist letter so if you like a color I would suggest you try it now.

It looks much prettier on the nails than in the bottle

I like this a lot!  I’ve been really into orange-y colors lately, and while I don’t like shimmer or metallic polish, this formula is really nice.  Not too much shimmer or metallic-ness.  I’ve never tried RBL but I’ve liked a number of the swatches you’ve shown with them, so I may have to put in an order for some new shades. :)

  5. Santa Fe was my favorite of the 3 GOMM polishes I picked up.  Just so pretty!

  6. I like it a lot. I’m very much into orange lately, so I’d wear this. I didn’t even know this brand until like a week ago, when I saw a review about it here. All I’ve seen so far is great!

    • Kiss and Makeup They’re definitely known in the nail community but aren’t a mainstream brand since the distribution is mostly (if not only) online through their own website. I’m always surprised they haven’t been picked up by at least one retailer (even something high end like NM).

I have this and I find it difficult to work with. It’s a bit goopy and dries so quick that I don’t have time to apply it before it got goopy. Love the colour thou.

  8. I love this. It’s the perfect shimmering orange–which you don’t often see (a lot of orange creams, though)

  9. Layla

Would you say this is in any way a burnt orange? I’m looking for a burnt orange; I think this might be more subtle than that but it might work for what I want.
