Well, to me, I don’t notice a difference between waterproof and regular when it’s actually on my lashes. If I get splashed with water or I cry, it melts off the same way no matter which product I use.
The difference is when it hits the skin. With regular mascara, I can just wipe it off. Easy as pie.
With waterproof mascara, I have to practically use sandpaper in order to get it off my skin.
So yea, I’m not a fan of waterproof mascara.

Exactly my sentiments. I was about to post the exact same thing.

Waterproof mascara still smudges for me, not so much runs just smudges but my regular mascara rarely ever runs either. In the end I don’t have to spend hours trying to get off my mascara if it isn’t waterproof.

I have no problem with waterproof as long as I’m wearing it, when I want to remove it, then it’s another story.
My lashes stay brittle and dry after removing it, that is to say the ones I don’t lose when taking it off. And without fail the next day I wake up with super dry, red eyes that sting. Some days, I think it would be easier to just look like a raccoon and call it a day.

I love waterproof mascara. Let me rephrase that’ I love Shiseido’s Lasting Lift. I used it for my wedding and I cried and cried and nothing moved. I washed my face and it didn’t come off like other waterproof mascara’s I’ve used before (and I tried them ALL). NOTHING made it budge.
But I agree with Trisha, it’s a PAIN to take off.

I only wear it if I’m going to sweat a lot or if I know I’m going to cry. That’s the only time it really has a use for me, and otherwise, I agree with the rest of them: it sucks to take off!

I like waterproof mascara in the summertime, because I tend to sweat pretty fast and so I can splash up without “pandaeyes”. I don’t like the finish from my waterproof macci, but it works.

I agree with many of the posters, Waterproof mascara is great but it definetly takes its toll on my lashes!!!
Like Chrystie said, I always seem to lose some lashes in the removal process. It is nice though not to have to worry about runny mascara due to allergies, emotions or other sources of moisture.

I always get waterproof mascara, it usually has more wax product and it holds the curl much better. Removing the mascara is not ever a problem for me because I use Clinique’s Take the Day Off…the stuff just melts off!

I love waterproof mascara, it the only thing that can hold a curl for me. I use eye make up remover and ponds cold cream to remove eye makeup.

I’m a regular user of waterproof mascara… I barely even touch regular mascara anymore! I find that it does hold the curl better (and even seems to lengthen/thicken better), and I’ve never had a problem with smudging to date! It gets hot in the summer and in the winter I’m prone to the whole watery-eye syndrome, and I hate getting those lines of mascara across your face (although it occasionally happens with the eyeliner)…
It can be a pain to take off, but I use Neutrogena Makeup Remover Cleansing Towelettes, and those tend to the job :)

I’m still on the fence between regular and waterproof mascara… because I like the regular ones, they work fine for me. though they do smudge a little if it’s a hot humid afternoon. with waterproof mascaras, i find that they clump so easily for me :S maybe i haven’t found the right brand yet. but i’ll keep trying! i’ve been changing brands every few months when i need to change mascaras! :P

NECESSITY. Without it, I get smudging and raccoon eyes by midday! Of course, it’s not so fun taking it off at the end of the night, even with an excellent eye make-up remover (my favourites are Mary Kay Oil-Free Eye Make-up Remover, Lancome Bi-Facil Eye Make-up Remover, and Neutrogena Oil-Free Eye Make-up Remover.)

HATE it! HATE it! Same as most of you ladies! So freakin’ impossible to remove unless half my lashes come off with the stuff. You end up scrubbing so hard that you damage the tender eye skin. Even using especially designed eye make up remover for waterproof products does not help! It comes out greasy but the stuff doesn’t bulge. I never have had problems with the regular non-waterproof stuff anyway. If I want to go swimming, I just don’t put mascara or makeup on.
