Rant & Rave

This Week’s Topic: Loose Glitter!

Your Mission: Tell us what you love, hate, or are otherwise indifferent to about loose glitter. What drives you bananas? What makes them necessary?

my answer: Now that I have Lit Cosmetics’ glitter base, I LOVE it. Before it drove me nuts how pretty it was but how much effort it took to wear it! I wish it was easier to photograph, though – the awesomeness of glitter is hard to show in a still photo!

Loose glitter is great to put on your nails with a clear polish & top coat.

Good idea!!! I would’ve never thought. It seems “beneath” some people to wear glitter anywhere but the right application, anybody can pull it off. I love LA Splash’s glitter glue primer! I use too face loose glitter and it really adds that extra highlight to the eyeshadow for parties.

It’s not really my thing anymore but in 6-7th grade I couldn’t be without it. I still wear the UD eyeshadows and Illamasqua pigments with the glitter but I try not to overdo it because the glitter gets stuck under my contacts.

  3. I hate it although I really, really want to love it. I haven’t tried Lit cosmetics yet but I have heard that theirs is the best at making it much easier to use so I might need to check them out.

I guess I really am getting old. I can’t think of any occasion where I would want to use loose glitter. I don’t even like makeup with glitter in it. That is why I rarely wear UD’s Sidecar even though the base color is really nice. I just can’t take the glitter.

  5. I love glitter SO MUCH! I always have, I always will. Loose glitter, glitter in something (anything) on lips, on eyes, on face, on ANYWHERE. I am glitter obsessed. There is no such thing as too much glitter- ever. I’ve never been troubled by fallout, perhaps because even if I do get fallout, I can pretend it was intentional and get away with it :D

My favourite glitters are holographic and fine. I’ve been dying to go mad in Lit!

  6. Yes for years now but I would mix them in with some sort of base usually ones that where “designed” as eye liner sealer.

Currently loving LIT’s glitter based and the Solar Blast S3 Shimmer.

Hard Candy makes a glitter adhesive called “Show Girl’s Secret” which works equally as well as the LIT glitter adhesive, and is a heck of a lot less expensive (Hard Candy’s product costs $5-$6, I believe). It comes with a brush (which is worthless). I put a few drops of the Show Girl’s Secret in one of the wells of a plastic paint palette, dip a small concealer brush into the product, then dip the brush into the glitter. Then, I pat the glitter onto my eyelids and it stays until I take it off; no fallout.

    • I use to use Hard Candy Show Girl’s Secret I find the Lit one last a bit longer and you need less product. But Agree the Show Girl’s Secret is these best you can find out of a lot of industry/theatrical brands and is comparable to Benefit She-lac.

  8. I love glitter on occasion, but I’m always worried about it irritating my eyes. My eyes have become so sensitive.

Haven’t used any loose glitter before. Plz name some good ones for me, which i can mix with all kinds of eyeliners n eye shadows.

  10. The last time I used loose glitter, I experimented with it on myself. I Applied mascara first, en then went over the still wet mascara with some gold loose powder. The result was dazzling, definitely, but after a few hours I ended up with a piece of glitter in my eye and it kept me awake all night. I finally got it out with a cotton cue (sp?) tip. Never again! :-)

Ah glitter…I do love it so. It’s just so fun! And ever since I discovered Pixie Epoxy, it’s become much easier to work with.

I’m in love with glitter anything, and I’ve found that loose glitter is by far the easiest way to use glitter on your eyes in a way that’s easy (unlike those cheapo creme shadow + glitter palettes) and versatile (unlike glitter eyeliner, which I also love but prefer to use as just eyeliener)! You just gotta use an adhesive or primer that’s specifically designed for loose glitter.
