I used Stila's multieffects mascara for a while, which curls for you. I'm using Diorshow and Chanel Exceptionnel now without a curler (too busy before work, I do my makeup in the car in the parking garage if I have time these days). I still get great results, but I have naturally thick lashes. I haven’t used one for a while and haven’t noticed much of a difference. My lashes face all the way down and I mean it! Curling my eyelashes just prevents the top and bottom lashes from sticking to each other when I blink after putting on mascara. Just not worth it, and I'm sure it was way more damaging than just using the tool. It just helps a LOT. I have a cheapie and it works fine but my shiseido and shu are working really nicely giveing me a non-crimpy, natural curl! I don't know which works better, since I havent seen any significant difference between Shiseido and Shu. But Shu is $9 more. GAP Eyelash curler is a MUST when it comes to applying mascara. It just helps a LOT.
