I hate it when they crease– there is absolutely nothing worse. Also, if they just show up as shimmer, that’s no fun. A good amount of pigmentation is really important. Its terrible when they stain your eyelid!

  2. Jessica

I love Cream bases to match the eyshadow i am wearing and help bring out the vibrancy in it and make the shadow longer lasting. What i hate about cream bases is that they have a tendency to crease, but not for me since i use UDPP.

  3. Steffi

I am a big fan of cream eyeshadows cause you can also use them as a great color base

  4. Jenni

I like cream eyeshadows but only as a base for powder eyeshadows

  5. Sara

I love cream eyeshadows because are a multi pourpose products for me 😉
I use them as eyeshadow for a soft look, as eyeshadow base or as hightlither for cheeckbones or browbones!
My favoutite are MAC Paint pot and Shiseido Hydropowder 😉

    Hate: Crease factor!

  7. Kristen

I love cream eyeshadows, especially Benefit Creaseless Creams.

I sometimes use UD’s cream shadows alone if I don’t have time to do a proper eye look, because they don’t crease and if I do have time later, I can just build up the look. Same with UDPP in Sin – gorgeous colour! I use to use Avon cream shadows before i got into the “proper” stuff and they are pretty awful, still have some, but will give them to my sister I think, she’s not into (and can’t afford) high end cosmetics anyway. :)

LOVE LOVE LOVE bobbi brown cream eyeshadows.. they are in neutrals and for a workplace like mine, they have become my holy grail products!

  10. I love cream eyeshadows OVER a primer and UNDER a powder shadow to help oomph the colour I’m trying to achieve.

Otherwise, I don’t like to use cream eyeshadows – they crease and I can’t ever get them to look blended and feathered. Whenever I try to wear them solo, they’re very harsh.

  11. Love them! Better quality ones tend not to crease and make a great eye shadow base. I tend not to use these solo though because my eyelids to get oily.

I’m not a fan of cream shadow on its own, as I find it can look pretty bland. Especially since it’s really hard to do anything interesting with it, or to even add detail/dimension (ie crease work, blending various colours together).

I DO however love it as part of my shadow base! I use UDPP, but regardless of the brand, price or type of shadow I use, the colour pay off is terrible and the shadows don’t really adhere. So, after letting UDPP dry for a few minutes, I dab on some cream shadow and then apply my shadow normally. I find this more effective than the wet technique, since with the wet technique, the shadows usually look a little.. overdone? Or a little heavy.

The ones from Shiseido are gorgeous!

  14. Helena

I love cream/liquid/non-powder (ha ha) eyeshadows. That is the beginning, middle, and end of the story.

  15. Nic

I usually wear them under powder shadow, but sometimes if I’m feeling lazy I’ll just use UD cream eyeshadow by itself. It lasts a good long time without creasing. MAC paints and Estee Lauder cream shadows (I don’t know about the current ones; I haven’t used them) also never gave me problems with creasing, and I have very oily skin. UDPP helps, of course.

Cream eyeshadows are somthing I have been getting into more lately. I bought a couple of macs paint pots and I am addicted!

  17. Silvia

I love to use cream eyeshadows as base for powder eyeshadows. MAC Paint Pots are great to use even alone. Benefit Creaseless Creams are also good.

I hate when they crease! Illamasqua has the worst that I’ve ever used.

  18. Tina

I love them! they are so quick to apply when I’m in a hurry, or don’t feel like doing a full “eye” makeup. But, only if they don’t crease.

  19. Charlene

Love any kind of eye shadow but cream creases A LOT. But I found if you powder your lid first it doesnt crease as much.

  20. Dini

I don’t like the cream shadows I’ve tried at all. They crease so badly and fade into an oily mess within an hour on my lids. Even with a primer, I still get major creasing and fading. Not so bad if I put a primer, then cream shadow, and then powdered shadow. But for some of the prices I’ve paid for cream shadows and the beautiful colors they come in, it is a same to cover them up with powered shadows!

  21. Meheen

I like Clinique’s quick eyes cream shadows but they can be tricky. Getting it in the right place on your lid is hard and sometimes when trying to blend with a finger they end up everywhere I don’t want them. But when I get it right, I love the result. I find that a true cream shadow works better than a colored primer, like UDPP sin.

  22. I discovered Benefit creaseless cream shadows a few months ago and went crazy with them. I use one almost every day (sometimes I use painterly instead). I LOVE THEM. They don’t give a TON of color, but a nice, natural color and shimmer for an everyday work kind of look, and powder goes beautifully over them and they really don’t crease, for me anyway.

  23. AnGeLwInGz

I really want to find a cream shadow that doesn’t crease on me. I have a beautiful one from Shiseido (H13 Clover Dew) but I don’t wear it often becasue it creases too much. Same thing with Dior. The colors are so pretty but the crease factor is terrible.

  24. Sandra

I love cream eyeshadow that comes in a tube, jars dry up too fast. Laura Mercier’s are the best I’ve found, followed by Benefit’s creaseless cream shadows. So much better than MAC’s paint pots, in my opinion!

  25. miawanda

Love Shu emura and Bobbi Brown, they both are water/sweat and crease resisant. I really wanted to love Nars but it doesn’t compare to the two. MAC paint pots are better than Nars but still don’t beat Shu and Bobbi.

  26. After the many purchases of cream shadows, both high end and drugstore…I just want to find two cream eyeshadow colors that I can wear together that will not crease and will not be used as bases. My wish would be for a beautiful metallic cream bronze shadow for the lid and a cream shadow for highlight. I could then use a powder to define the outer V area. Oh, how I wish this would come true! Great topic!

  27. I want to love these.. but I find they either work REALLY well, or just stay away! The only exception I will make is really the Benefit line. I trust those so much and they’ve never let me down! Heck, I’m even wary with paintpots, but I’m stubborn..

  28. Luisafer

I hate cream eyeshadow!!! they smudge, budgie, en end up looking so ugly because they crease!!! 😛

  29. gabriella

I actually hate cream eyeshadows period. I used to love them, but I can’t look natural when I have them on, I don’t even prime my eyes and powder eyeshadow has never creased on me. The only thing that will crease is cream eyeshadow in my opinion because it’s oily!

  30. Emm

I love and hate cream eye shadows. Mainly because they do crease without a primer, but they are so easy to apply and makes my eye shadows pop.

  31. Mia

i always use paintpots as my base for my eyeshadows or i use MAC paints but there ok (i prefer paintpots). they dont crease and they are beautiful to wear alone
