Having had a less than happy experience with a sheer and glittery Paint Pot a few years ago (Dangerous Cuvee from ChamPale), I was more than a bit leery when I looked at this in store the other day. It looked SO pretty but swatched SO glittery. But I figured, “What the heck” and asked my beloved MAC lady for a sample (there is no irony there; the women at the MAC counter at my particular Hudson’s Bay store are really lovely). Well, I totally LOVE this and I’m going back for the full size, which is probably silly given my age and lifestyle. But still, is is just so darned pretty – a darkened, grey-ish purple that looks pretty as anything applied sheerly (it’s pretty sheer) on the mobile lid. The glitter sort of dances in the light but isn’t over-the-top obnoxiously garish. So far (I’ve only had this a few days), the wear and crease resistance are good – typical of what I usually get with a Paint Pot. I’m actually thinking of maybe buying Dangerous Cuvee again….or maybe not!!!
I love this shade for everyday wear, the peachy gold colour is sheer but really beautiful. It’s not the longest wearing paint pot I have (especially on my oily eyelids), but I really just love the colour on the eyes. I think it would be flattering on most skin tones.
I love this paint pot so much! At first I kind of thought it may be too warm-toned on my already warm skin tone, but this is one of my fave everyday shades to wear. It’s so easy to apply; I like using the real techniques base shadow brush for application, and using the MAC 217 to blend any edges. It lasts all day at the office on my very oily eyelids, which is just the best quality about it. Amazing!
Vintage Selection makes for a great simple, everyday look. I like to use my fingers to apply this and to blend it. This applies very easily and lasts all day. It is also buildable, but I feel it looks and lasts best when just one layer is applied. I have had no problems with this drying out and I have had mine since it was released in the permanent collection. The product is also easily accessible in the pot, unlike brands like Bobbi Brown where I have to use a brush just to get the product out.
This particular pp color surprised me a little by how much shimmer it has in it. It’s not terrible but I just didn’t expect it. It applies well, but the shimmer can be a little more than desired, especially if you wanted to use this as just a wash of color on your lid (might vary depend on your skin tone). Worth having in your collection if you don’t mind the shimmer. It applies better than some of the past pp (especially shimmer heavy options like Let’s Skate). I didn’t experience any fallout from the shimmer.
The long-wearing, highly pigmented eye color goes on creamy and dries to an intense, vibrant, pearlized finish. Seamlessly covers without weight or caking and blends smoothly over the lids. Cream-based, can be mixed with M·A·C shadows and liners.
