Editor's Review

MAC Lipstick comes in a variety of finishes, and the pigmentation and wear tend to be dependent on the finish. The sheer finishes, like Lustres, tend to wear for only a couple of hours and have sheer coverage (as designed) and are non-drying.

Some of the original Matte shades have a stiffer, drier formula, while newer ones have a more velvety, silicone-feel to them, and the latter are creamier, more comfortable to wear, and easier to apply, but most Matte shades are quite pigmented and long-wearing, though some are drying.

The Amplified and Satin finishes tend to have good pigmentation, lightly creamy to moderately creamy consistencies with a bit of shine, and moderate to long wear with deeper, richer shades wearing longer. The Frost and Metallic finishes have the most variance between... Read More.

I love this lipstick. Its my favourite for day to day red wear, still true red but somehow more subtle, maybe its the warmer tones. I can wear this to work and it will stay on all day as long as I don't eat something too greasy. I have very pale pinky skin and this looks just as good on my dark olive skinned friend as it does me.

This is hands down my favourite red. I usually pair it with MAC Cherry lip liner to tone down how blue it is. I can wear this all day with no need to re-apply. It is a little drying but i hate the sticky feeling from some lipstick so this works for me.

If you're into matte lipsticks, this is the best! This product looks great, might be a touch dry but it lasts forever even if you're eating/drinking. My favourite red lipstick!

This is a lovely lipstick, just "nude" enough for me without being ghostly. It's not something I can wear with a neutral eye, as it washes me out, but pairs well with a smokey or dramatic eye. Lovely texture and mildly hydrating too.

I purchased this at a cosmetics company outlet store - only wish I had bought an extra tube or two!!! This is a go-to color for me. Regardless of lip chapping, leftover stain, outfit, or time of day - this color works.

I love it! It's the perfect classic red with a cool undertone. I think looks good on everyone. And it's suuuuper matte, for me, looks beautiful. Also, it's very dry, so, you need to exfoliate and moisturize your lips before apply ruby woo.

You need a lip pencil (for exemple, MAC Nightmoth) if you want the color to be even. If you do so , the color is just gorgeous and the result is great. It last for four hour on me before fading slightly. It didn't dry my lips but it didn't hydrate them neither.

This is a very unique color. I wouldn't call it orange but I'd rather describe it as light brown, tan leather color. It works well with earth tone eye shades.

This is my perfect nude. Never have I ever encountered a lipstick that fit me so much; fit my lips so perfectly that it left me in total awe. I just started getting into MAC lipsticks this year and I thought after Fresh Brew, there couldn't be a more perfect nude for me until Crème Cerise came along. I hate that MAC made this limited edition. I've fallen so head over heels in love with it that it hurts me to even use it now, knowing I'll have to scramble to find another seller of it. Definitely worth every dollar and cent I paid for it. Bring this back now, MAC! I neeed it!!

I wanted to adore this and I just... don't. Maybe its just mine, but it does that weird pilling/clumping on the surface of the lipstick. It just feels so dry! Also, perhaps its all the pink in my skin, but it pulls so brown-red on me.

I love this one. The color is perfect for daily use, but the shade it's better for autumn or winter. I think looks better on light neutral skins. My favorite fact about this one is as the color is vanishing, the dyed lip stays.

This is a very good lipstick. I am in search for another. This is how much I love this product. I am almost out of it and it's sold out. If anyone knows where it's available please let me know.

I love this lipstick! It's really easy to get a crisp line straight from the bullet with this formula. It never gathers or looks dry. It's not moisturising, but it's not drying either. I always prep my lips with MAC Lip Conditioner before I wear their mattes, blot my lips then apply the lipstick. After about 4 hours of wear I dab a tiny bit of Lip Conditioner over the top and that keeps my lips happy. I can skip that step without On my NC20 skintone (I have neutral-to-warm undertones) it looks like a warm-toned red, super flattering and lovely. However on my NC40 friend, it looks straight orange (though just as lovely)! I was shocked to see it's such a chameleon!

I got this as a Back 2 Mac shade, almost as an afterthought - and I am impressed! It's crazy pigmented, and the shade is so flattering - much more so than I expected. It can be hard to get a crisp line straight from the bullet, and one does NEED a clear line with a shade like this. The upside is, it's so matte that I can go outside my natural lip line and it will stay there. It's not drying or hydrating - I dab a little lip conditioner over the top after about 4 hours and I'm good. It really creates a classic, pin-up look - AND it does actually makes my teeth look whiter (no, really!!).

Works very well with my yellow undertones and smaller, plumper lips for an everyday colour that branches out a little from the everyday beige/pinky nudes. It remains subtle but effective in making my lips look great plus brings out my blue eyes!

I feel like this IS a pretty lipstick, and the consistency and colour in the tube is lovely. It also seems to look great on everyone else... but me!? It just makes me look a little alien (in a bad way - not a Scarlett Johansson way unfortunately) so for that reason, it's a little regret in buying it.

Lustering has to be one of my favourite lipstick colours from MAC. It is such a perfectly pretty berry-pink (as opposed to a milky pink) that I just love wearing. My only complaint is that as it is a Lustre (not a Frost, as it's described above), it is not all that long-wearing. But I love it so much that I can overlook that one flaw a bit, though I am always on the lookout for something like Lustering but in a more long-lasting formula.

This lipstick is creamy and very easy to apply. I think this lipstick is perfect for spring/summer and night time. I love pairing this up with a neutral eye to add a pop of color.

I decided to try out this shade because I wanted an everyday pink lipstick. This lipstick is nice and creamy. I have pretty dry lips and it doesn't feel drying to me. This is my perfect nude pink lipstick.

I found that this shade washed out my skin, just too pale for my liking. Not very long wearing at all and found it to be too drying on my lips, so I would recommend a lip primer or moisturise lips with a balm of some sort. Heard so many reviews boosting this shade so wanted to jump on board and try it for myself, now regretting my purchase.

LOVE! Absolutely beautiful colour - runs much more purple on me than on Christines lip swatch. Doesn't require a lot of reapplication - just after a meal but it does tend to leave a deep pink stain on my lips the next day.

A beautiful orange-red with a true matte finish. Once it is on it will stay for an extremely long time but it does take a bit to apply as it is a very dry finish lipstick. I suggest applying a thin layer of balm shortly before application.

From the photos I found online, I was expecting this to be a neutral, so I ordered the lipstick as well as lip glass. It was too pink for my complexion. I sent both back.

I'm totally in love with this shade for spring, it's my perfect coral; not too pastel but not too bright and leans more towards orange than pink. Application and wearability are excellent like most MAC lipsticks, it's moisturising and doesn't bleed. It applies well and is opaque in a coat or two giving even coverage. The finish is similar to other MAC amplified formulas, creamy and opaque with a slight sheen to the finish. The formula feels lightweight and moisturising on the lips, it really is a dream to wear. It will last a good few hours and has will cope ok with moderate drinking and eating, I've managed a coffee and a snack without loosing all colour or getting the dreaded outer ring of colour but it's not a 'long lasting' lipstick so don't expect miracles. Another excellent MAC lipstick.

Flamingo was such a surprise—it looks SO orange in the tube but it's actually really pretty pink with just a bit of coral as Christine says. I seriously never would have tried it if I didn't see this review.
