I have a medium/ olive skintone with yellow undertones. My lips are slightly darker.
On me, this colour was the best. It’s a beautiful coral and perfect to wear daily. Out of the colours I bought from the MAC All about orange collection (Razzledazzler, Sushi Kiss, Flamingo and Tangerine dream). This was one of my favourites. Highly recommend it!

I have a medium/ olive skintone with yellow undertones. My lips are slightly darker.
On me, this colour was a pretty sheer coral/pink. Out of the colours I bought from the MAC All about orange collection (Tart and Trendy, Sushi Kiss, Flamingo and Tangerine dream). This was one of my favourites. This is a perfect girlie every day colour. Highly reccommend it!

I would have NEVER thought this was a color I could pull off, but it actually looks nice against my super pale (Bobbi Brown Alabaster) skin. It has just enough pink in it that it doesn’t clash. My only issue is it is really difficult to get it even on my lips in one layer. I have to put some on, blot, and layer on more to get even coverage. I have found that if I use MAC Lasting Sensation lip pencil under it, then it goes on smoother. The color lasts quite a long time on me too, but it can be a bit drying.

Sunny Seoul
Skin Tone: Fair, Skin Type: Combination, Undertone: Neutral

This is my go-to light pink, Sunny Seoul is a little shimmery and definitely on the sheer side so it’s a great choice for easy color. Because of the shimmer it can go on unevenly especially if your lips are dry. For some reason on my skintone this reads slightly blue but not too bright, where Pink Pearl Pop was super neon, so I definitely like this one better.

Haute Altitude
Skin Tone: Fair, Skin Type: Combination, Undertone: Neutral

This is a gorgeous neutral/slightly cool medium-ish pink. I say medium-ish because on fair skin it’s slightly darker than my natural lipcolor, but for darker and richer skin tones it would definitely be light. Good coverage, not sticky at all, and just enough blue tinge to make my teeth look extra white. I have to mention also, I bought this on a whim in store having not been much of a lipstick person before, and it set me on a MAC lipstick bender like no other. I love it!

Warm Companion
Skin Tone: Fairest, Skin Type: Normal-to-Dry, Undertone: Pink

I bought this shade on a whim and it ended up being the color I liked the most from the Après Chic collection. It’s very versatile and looks great paired with a warm smoky eye. On me it looks peachy gold. It does have that metallic quality to it so it’s not the creamiest shade but I have terribly dry lips and it doesn’t bother them. I have been pleasantly surprised with this shade.

Viva Glam Nicki 2
Skin Tone: Fairest, Skin Type: Normal-to-Dry, Undertone: Pink

Clearly this is not a color for everyone. It is different and eye catching but that is what most of us love about Mac anyway. The consistency is smooth and wonderful and opaque with one swipe. For most people this color requires a little creativity as far as lip liner and/or lip gloss but that’s what makes makeup so fun. I haven’t worn it a lot because it is a little high maintenance but I’m still glad I bought it. I pair it with NYX lip liner in Purple Rain and it looks awesome. It also looks good with pink and purple glosses.

RiRi Woo
Skin Tone: Dark Tan, Skin Type: Normal-to-Dry, Undertone: Neutral

This was an impulse buy for me, I got a text on my phone from MAC saying it was available and just snatched it up. I’m glad I did. I don’t own Ruby Woo so I can’t do a comparison, but I do love this color. It’s a nice, cool tone red that would work well on a lot of skin tones. I’m not sure if it’s the finishing powder that I use or the lipstick itself, but it’s very long lasting. The only reason I give it 4.5 starts instead of a perfect 5 is because of the texture. It is very dry so I always wear a lip primer with it (Mac Lip Prime) so it goes on better and doesn’t feel so dry on my lips. Other then that I love the stuff.

Lady Danger
Skin Tone: Light, Skin Type: Normal-to-Oily, Undertone: Yellow

Such a showstopper of a red color! It’s super flattering on my warm skin due to it’s orange tones and is my bright, sexy red (Russian Red is my darker red shade). Lasts probably 4-5 hours and leaves a slight stain behind. I would definitely recommend going into a MAC store to try it on before buying it as it is a very bright shade. It’s a great shade of red for summertime!

Russian Red
Skin Tone: Light, Skin Type: Normal-to-Oily, Undertone: Yellow

A beautiful shade of red! I have warm toned skin and this is still very flattering on me. It’s my darker, sexier shade of red (Lady Danger is my bright red). Even though it’s not a hydrating lipstick, it’s very creamy when it goes on and it’s opaque in one sweep. I’d definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a great, versatile red.

RiRi Woo
Skin Type: Oily, Skin Tone: Tan

I am NOT a RiRi fan, but I am a fan of red lipsticks. I went with this one because I don’t have Ruby Woo (although I have worn it when borrowed from a friend). For one, I think it is NOT a perfect dupe for Ruby Woo, but it isn’t a major difference in the color. It is slightly darker and bluer but nothing major. It does however seem to feel a bit more comfortable on the lips and is less drying that Ruby Woo. It isn’t very forgiving if you have dry/chapped lips so you definitely need to prep your lips first if you have any flakiness that you need to take care of.

When applying for the first time I noticed a lot more tugging on the lips than I am used to, but subsequent applications have been much better. As I mentioned, I expected it to be extremely drying like Ruby Woo was but to my surprise it really wasn’t. It’s definitely not hydrating either though. If wearing a matte is just too much for you then you can apply a little lip balm on top and rub your lips together. This will change the texture but the color remains on the lips. Just something to consider if you love the color but not the feel of matte (or retro matte in this case).

If you aren’t a RiRi fan, you don’t have a love of all lip products that are red, and/or you already own Ruby Woo then you can skip this one with no regrets.

Fast Play
Skin Type: Normal-to-Dry, Undertone: Yellow

Another MLBB shade. a very good way to go the nude lip route if you’re not one for those beige-toned ones that just make you look washed out. It’s almost a fleshy pink that just works and has enough color to not make you look like a corpse. lovely.

Creme In Your Coffee
Skin Type: Normal-to-Dry, Undertone: Yellow

Definitely a MLBB shade, at least for me! I love this for work and class or just those outings where you want to feel polished but not necessarily turn heads everywhere you do. it’s a comforting look. Some have had issues with the cremesheen line, in terms of dryness and such, but it works fine for me

Viva Glam I
Skin Type: Normal-to-Dry, Undertone: Yellow

lovely color, suits my skin really well. love that it can be applied super sheerly for a pretty stain, or layered on for a pin-up look. I’ve worn it numerous times, and always get tons of compliments. Since it is matte in texture, it is not the most hydrating lipstick out there; make sure to apply lip balm a few hours before you plan to apply this lipstick.

Please Me
Skin Tone: Light, Skin Type: Combination, Undertone: Neutral

Please Me is one of MAC’s underrated permanent items (of which there are many!). It’s a great basic item to have – pink but not bright, neutral but still noticeable. The matte finish pairs excellently with this shade – in my opinion the finish is what makes this shade sing. This is one of my staple products. I have almost used a whole tube and will buy another when I use it up.

RiRi Woo
Skin Tone: Dark Tan, Skin Type: Normal, Undertone: Yellow

I obviously bought this lipstick because I love Rihanna! Aside from that, I’m completely in love with the color and finish. There is something very classic and sexy about the effect. I’ve never worn red lipstick, but this is a very positive step into that direction. If you’re looking for something super moisturizing, this isn’t the lipstick for you. If you love the look Rihanna has made her signature, cop RiRiWoo when it rereleases in the fall.

Viva Glam Nicki
Skin Tone: Light, Skin Type: Normal-to-Oily, Undertone: Yellow

Love love love this! I just bought it today as a random pick when I went into my local MAC store to find a good red lipstick. I wasn’t expecting to love it as much as I did. It’s very soft and creamy when you put it on though it’s not a moisturizing lipstick (I have great lip balm that might help with that). It lasted about 6 hours on me but then again, I wasn’t doing much eating or drinking, and it did leave a slight stain behind afterwards. You also don’t have to put a lot on in order to have it be opaque which is great. Plus, it supports a great cause so it was totally worth it. I might buy another one. It’s a great, bright, and fun color for spring/summer. I love the fact that it’s a warm-toned pink since so many pink lipsticks are cool-toned/blue-based.

Sounds Like Noise
Skin Tone: Light, Skin Type: Normal-to-Oily, Undertone: Yellow

I was actually kind of terrified of this color but I bought it because it had so many good reviews. It was such a good choice! The color really compliments my skin (I’m pale but warm toned) and, according to my friends, lights my whole face up. It’s very easy to tone down if you put it on lightly: by doing this, I can make it more coral toned than pure orange. I would definitely give it a try as it’s a great color for summer!

Fantastic red that suit most skin tones. On my lips, it’s as a cool tone red as much as a berry-ish red.
Long lasting and easy to apply.
A perfect dupe for this is Maybelline ColorSensational in Red Revival (645). The same shade but with a glossier finish. It doesn’t last as long on the lips, though.

Creme Cup
Skin Tone: Fair, Skin Type: Combination, Undertone: Pink

Creme Cup is a nice, blue-pink lipstick that feels creamy but doesn’t go on quite as creamy on the lips. If you have any lip imperfections (like lip wrinkles or patchiness) Creme Cup will emphasize it. Otherwise this is an excellent lipstick that creates that perfect, glossy pink lip but looks best with a semi-sheer or sheer lip gloss. I usually pair Creme Cup with with a milky pink lip gloss for perfect lips. :D

Creme Cup
Skin Tone: Fair, Skin Type: Combination, Undertone: Neutral

Nude for those who look ‘dead’ in canon nudes. It is definitely pink, and described as “light blue pink” by MAC. On me it looks very neutral–muted dusty pink, a bit lighter then my natural lip color. Looks great with dark eye-makeup, or everyday ‘natural’ looks.
Formula-wise it is opaque, not drying, doesn’t bleed or settle into lines, wears well (~3-4 hours) and fades w/o drama leaving my lips in presentable condition. A staple in my makeup bag, a must have pinkish nude–very flattering on fair skin (can look milky w/ tan).

Cherish
Skin Tone: Light, Skin Type: Oily, Undertone: Yellow

Cherish is my favorite lipstick of all time, mine is nearly finished and I will definitely repurchase it.
The Satin finish is creamy when applying but it sits well on lips and last for 3 to 4 hours if I dont eat.
The color is a nice highly pigmented peachy brown that goes well on my NC20 skin. It is my HG my lips but better!

Girl About Town
Skin Tone: Fair, Skin Type: Combination, Undertone: Neutral

Such an amazing fuchsia colour. It can tend to lean more purple than pink on some people (including myself).

The texture and formula is excellent, and even when the lipstick comes off after eating etc, the colour leaves quite a nice stain on the lips.

I would have given it a 5 star rating, but the fact that we have to pay $36 for it in Australia prevents me from leaving it top marks!

Crème d’Nude
Skin Tone: Fair, Skin Type: Combination, Undertone: Neutral

Creme d’Nude is a great nude lipstick. Overall, the texture is quite good, but pale skinned girls like myself might need to watch it with this shade, because it’s quite easy to have that “dead” look with such a lack of bright colour.

Creme Cup
Skin Tone: Fair, Skin Type: Combination, Undertone: Neutral

I find Creme Cup weird. It’s a nice colour, but the creamsheen formula is weird on me, and seems to be patchy and shows dry patches. I also don’t find the formula on this one to be as good as say Amplified finishes, being not opaque enough for my liking. Bit of a bummer, because its a lovely everyday colour.

Sounds Like Noise
Skin Tone: Dark Tan, Skin Type: Normal-to-Dry, Undertone: Neutral

I will admit, it is a little dry to the lips to wear, but it goes on smooth, which I can appreciate. It is a hard color to wear though. I’m still attempting to find a lipliner, as I think I’ve found a gloss, that will help tone down the color just a few shades or make it a little more wearable then it is right now. Because putting it by itself on my skin tone just doesn’t work unfortunately, but I’m determined to find a way!

Siss
Skin Tone: Dark Tan, Skin Type: Normal-to-Dry, Undertone: Neutral

This is one of those lipsticks that I would never wear on it’s own, it just doesn’t suit my skintone. It’s really to light, BUT paired with the right lipgloss this becomes a wonderful shade. I pair it with Nymphette from MAC and a few colors from the Too Faced lipgloss line and it’s absolutely wonderful.

Wonderful shade of pink from MAC. It’s bright, really fun, and can work on just about any skin tone in my opinion. Not to mention it lasts! I pair it with the Magenta lipliner when I want to make it a tad darker depending on the look I’m going for, but it’s still gorgeous.

So for women of color out there that fall into the dark range I will say this: Lip liner is your BEST friend with this lipstick. Your best friend ever. Putting it on by itself I look crazy and like I got into a fight with my train case and lost, badly, but adding a lip liner (Silly from MAC if you want more pink, Nightmoth from MAC for a vampire lip effect, Fushia from Milani for an electric dark pink – close enough to Girl About Town by MAC – shade) makes this a wonderful color though.

So I was looking for a purple that was a true purple, no red undertones, no pink undertones, but purple. A nice, wearable, shade of purple. And I’m super happy to say that this is it! I love this shade from MAC, it’s great and not dry like some of their other lipsticks that I’ve tried.
