Burberry Burberry Winter Glow Lip Glow
Burberry Burberry Winter Glow Lip Glow

Burberry Oxblood No. 23 Lipgloss ($29.00 for 0.20 fl. oz.) is a slightly muted, medium-dark fuchsia pink with cool undertones and creamy, glossy finish. It had semi-sheer color coverage, which seems in line with the brand’s description (“hint of colour”), and a lightweight, comfortable-to-wear feel on the lips. This shade lasted for four hours on me and was moderately hydrating. It could apply more evenly, though. This color is part of the permanent range, but it will have Burberry’s regular packaging (instead of gold). MAC Pleasant (LE, $20.00) is less glossy. MAC Hopelessly Devoted (LE, $20.00) is pinker. MAC Prepare for Pleasure (LE, $20.00) is redder. Giorgio Armani #523 (P, $29.00) is more opaque. MAC Impassioned (LE, $15.00) is more opaque. See comparison swatches / view dupes.

Burberry Gold No. 25 Lipgloss ($29.00 for 0.20 fl. oz.) is a beige-tinted gloss with lots of muted gold and antique gold shimmer and larger gold sparkle. It adds a very slight bit of warmth to my natural lip color, but it’s really the amount of sparkle that is most noticeable. I couldn’t feel any of the sparkle or shimmer, which was nice, even as it wore away. It wore well for three hours on me and was hydrating over time. Dior Gold Rain (164) (LE, $29.50) is less shimmery. NARS Soleil d’Orient (LE, $26.00) is more shimmery. MAC Pussywillow (LE, $15.00) is lighter. Maybelline Gleaming Gold (120) (LE) has finer shimmer. Bobbi Brown Bare Peach (LE, $24.00) is less shimmery. Bobbi Brown Pure Gold (LE, $24.00) is yellower. Bobbi Brown Candlelight (LE, $24.00) is similar. MAC Pure Sophistication (LE, $15.00) is yellower. Chanel French Toffee (83) (LE, $27.00) is less shimmery. MAC Soft Serenade (LE, $15.00) is darker. MAC Boundless Beige (P, $19.50) is lighter. Guerlain Gold Tchlack (P, $30.00) is less shimmery. Bobbi Brown Canary (P, $24.00) is yellower. See comparison swatches / view dupes.

Burberry Gold No. 25 Complete Eye Palette
Burberry Gold No. 25 Complete Eye Palette

Burberry Gold No. 25 Complete Eye Palette ($60.00 for 0.19 oz.) includes a dark brown, khaki gold, antique gold, and pewter beige. After a season of many disappointments, it is always refreshing to discover something as well-done as this palette. The quality is consistently high across all four eyeshadows: richly pigmented, soft and silky textures, and long-wear. I’m digging Burberry’s take on gold, as there is no true, yellow gold here, only variations on the theme, which is nice while still being more traditional yet not the same ol’, same ol’. It is a warmer-toned set of shades, all are shimmery, and more dupable, so it may not work for everyone. If you tend to like your warm, shimmery shades with a gold twist, you may fall in love. I personally hope they’ll consider adding it to their core range down the line. These were just the type of eyeshadows that felt like they applied and blended themselves–no fuss at all.

Gold #1 is a rich, medium-dark brown with a pearly sheen. It had great color payoff with a soft, blendable texture that was very easy to use. It wore well for nine hours before fading slightly. Tarte Bastille in the Night (LE) is darker, more matte. Guerlain Petrouchka #5 (LE) is similar. Gucci Beauty Fumé (Right) (P) is darker. Tom Ford Beauty Nude Dip #4 (LE) is cooler-toned. Make Up For Ever ME614 Graphite Brown (P, $21.00) is darker. Sleek MakeUP Aladdin’s Lamp (LE, $9.99) is more shimmery. Chanel Tisse Rivoli #4 (P) is cooler-toned. YSL Saharienne #4 (P) is slightly cooler-toned. YSL Saharienne #3 (P) is darker. theBalm #37 (P, $6.50) is darker, less shimmery. theBalm #8 (P, $6.50) is less shimmery. bareMinerals Embellish (LE) is more shimmery. bareMinerals Toasted Espresso (LE, $14.00) is cooler-toned. theBalm B4 (LE, $16.00) is similar. Marc Jacobs Beauty The Starlet #3 (P) is slightly darker. See comparison swatches / view dupes.

Gold #2 is a golden khaki-brown with a frosted finish and warm undertones. It had a very soft, finely-milled consistency that was a tiny bit powdery if you weren’t careful. The pigmentation was excellent, though, and it lasted for nine hours on me. Makeup Geek Pretentious (P, $5.99) is more golden. Anastasia Gilded (LE) is darker. Tarte Provence Upon a Time (LE) is less shimmery. MAC Mortal #4 (LE) is brighter. Cle de Peau Stellar Gaze #2 (P) is darker. Anastasia Topaz (LE) is lighter, more shimmery. Makeup Geek Poker Face (P, $6.99) is more metallic, lighter. Make Up For Ever ME644 Iced Brown (P, $21.00) is lighter. Make Up For Ever D652 Celestial Earth (P, $21.00) is similar. Too Faced Tiger’s Eye (LE, $16.00) is similar. Dior Golden Flower #4 (LE) is lighter. Urban Decay Smog (P, $18.00) is darker. MAC Museum Bronze (P, $21.00) is more metallic. See comparison swatches / view dupes.

Gold #3 is a warmer, light-medium antique gold with warm undertones and a frosted finish. It had good color payoff with a soft, blendable texture that was easy to work with. This shade showed signs of fading after nine hours of wear. Too Faced Cinnamon Sugar (LE, $16.00) is darker. LORAC Smokey Topaz (LE) is similar. NARS Dione (P, $29.00) is lighter, cooler-toned. MAC Crushed Clove (P, $15.00) is similar. See comparison swatches / view dupes.

Gold #4 is a light, muted gold with warm undertones and a frosted sheen. It had nice pigmentation with a soft, buttery texture that was beautifully blended on the skin. Guerlain Petrouchka #1 (LE) is similar. MAC Canter (LE, $15.00) is slightly warmer. Anastasia Legend (LE) is yellower. Tarte Golden Locket (LE) is darker. Make Up For Ever ME512 Golden Beige (P, $21.00) is warmer. theBalm #41 (P, $6.50) is similar. MAC In the Meadow #2 (LE, $21.00) is lighter. MAC Lily White (2014) (LE, $21.00) is lighter. Bobbi Brown 24 Karat (LE, $28.00) is darker, cream. Makeup Geek Bling (P, $5.99) is lighter. Chanel Convoitise (90) (LE, $36.00) is a cream product. Disney by Sephora Sand in the Glass (LE) is lighter.See comparison swatches / view dupes.

Burberry Gold Glow No. 01 Luminizing Powder
Burberry Gold Glow No. 01 Luminizing Powder

Burberry Gold Glow No. 01 Luminizing Powder ($68.00 for 0.35 oz.) is a dirty, light-medium antique gold with a frosted sheen. Chanel Camelia de Plumes (LE, $76.00) is much lighter. Charlotte Tilbury Filmstar Glow (P) is warmer. Chanel Dentelle Precieuse (LE, $80.00) is warmer. Becca Opal (P, $38.00) is warmer, cream. See comparison swatches / view dupes.

Despite the very true, yellowed gold packaging, Burberry’s take on “Gold” in terms of actual color is much lighter, and honestly, unexpected. It is fragranced with the My Burberry scent, which is a stronger floral (a mix of bergamot, freesia, and rose), and it’s not a subtle or faint scent, so if you don’t like scented powders or are adverse to floral scents in general, you may want to skip this. You might be able to minimize the scent by leaving the compact open for a few days. I did notice the scent when applied to the skin, but it didn’t seem to be apparent after about forty minutes of wear. The powder is lovely with its soft, silky consistency that blended beautifully and highlighted the skin without emphasizing pores. It gives the skin a luminous glow that is easy to achieve. On me, the highlighter wears well for nine hours before starting to fade. It includes a very slim, narrow yet wide, straight-across brush, which will work and isn’t the worst brush I’ve tried, though not something I would use if one already had full-sized brushes.

The Estée Lauder brand today announced that it has signed Kendall Jenner, fashion’s new breakout star and social media sensation. Kendall will appear in digital, TV and print advertising campaigns and play an active role in creating social media content that will live on Estée Lauder’s channels as well as her own.

“Bridging the worlds of high fashion, entertainment and social media, Kendall is a modern beauty who represents a whole new generation of women who live, breathe and share beauty, fashion and life 24/7, on their own terms, in a visually compelling way,” said Jane Hertzmark Hudis, Global Brand President, Estée Lauder. “She is the ultimate instagirl, and we are excited to leverage her image, voice, energy and extraordinary social media power to introduce Estée Lauder to millions of young women around the world.”

“It honestly feels like a dream to represent such an iconic beauty brand — it is an incredible honor and quite humbling,” said Kendall Jenner. “I found out when I was backstage at Paris fashion week, and all this time I’ve had to keep the news top secret. I am so excited to share it now and be part of Estée Lauder.”

MAC Kinky Lipglass
MAC Kinky Lipglass

MAC Kinky Lipglass ($15.00 for 0.17 fl. oz.) is described as a “sheer red with multidimensional glitter.” It’s a medium, warm-toned red with fuchsia and red glitter. NARS Misbehave (P, $26.00) is less sparkly, sheerer. NARS Eternal Red (P, $26.00) is less shimmery. MAC Hell Bound (LE, $15.00) has finer shimmer, darker. MAC Restless (LE, $15.00) is darker. MAC Totally Fab (LE, $20.00) is less sparkly. L’Oreal Sparkle Frenzy (LE, $9.99) is cooler-toned. Chanel Daydream (P, $29.50) is less red. See comparison swatches / view dupes.

It’s semi-sheer–I found it somewhat buildable to get between sheer and semi-opaque color, depending on your tolerance for the thickness of your gloss–with lots and lots of glitter. It’s definitely a sparkly, glittery gloss that has some noticeable texture, but it is surprisingly unnoticeable given how full of glitter it is. Despite the brighter, darker color and the opacity level, it applied fairly evenly and didn’t pull into lip lines. The gloss on its own wore well for almost five hours. It’s medium-to-thick, noticeable on, and tacky, which is in line with the Lipglass formula. It’s particularly lovely over your favorite red lipstick (any will do!).
