Dior Bahia (792) Vernis
Dior Bahia (792) Vernis

Dior Bahia Vernis Duo ($29.00 for 2 x 0.23 fl. oz.) is a duo of polishes that is described as a “deep lagoon blue” and “hibiscus pink.” Both bottles are slightly smaller (about one-third less of the size — 0.34 fl oz. vs. 0.23 fl. oz.) of full-size Dior polishes.

Bahia (792) is a medium-dark, muted blue with a cream-jelly finish. It was mostly opaque after two coats, but there was some visible nail line coming through. The finish seemed almost jelly-like in some ways. The polish’s consistency wasn’t too thick or too thin, so I didn’t have issues with it pooling along the edges, and it applied fairly well. Illamasqua Muse is darker, less blue. Zoya Breezi is slightly darker, more pigmented. See comparison swatches.

Bahia (667) is a bright, medium pink with cool undertones. This shade was opaque after applying two coats, and the consistency wasn’t too thick or too thin. OCC Palare is more shimmery. NARS Ratin Jot is a bit darker. L’Oreal Members Only is darker. China Glaze Escaping Reality is warmer. China Glaze Beach Cruise-r is cooler. Zoya Lara is slightly darker. See comparison swatches.

Temptalia Asks You

Have you bought beauty products as a Father’s Day gift before? Share your favorite buys for the men (fathers, grandfathers, uncles, brothers, partners, etc.!) in our lives!

Temptalia's AnswerNot very often, but I definitely have! I actually did quite a bit for this year – I bought more nail care for my dad (who’s still having trouble with his nails). Mellan also bought Shaun a fancy razor, razor blades, and an Art of Shaving Sandalwood kit. He’s such a nice son ;)

Rescue Beauty Lounge Be Humble Nail Lacquer
Rescue Beauty Lounge Be Humble Nail Lacquer

Rescue Beauty Lounge Be Humble Nail Lacquer ($20.00 for 0.50 fl. oz.) is described as a “taupe … [with] pink, blue, and lavender shimmers.” It’s a warm, muted, light-medium mauve with fine pink and lavender pearl (I couldn’t really pull out the blue). It applied well and was opaque in two coats. The formula is on the thicker side but the consistency didn’t affect the performance or application. Cult Nails Let’s Get Dirty is slightly pinker and warmer, but it is similar and the only shade I could think of that was similar (it also has a wax finish, so you’ll need a top coat to replicate the shine of Be Humble). See comparison swatches.

Forgiveness Nail Lacquer ($20.00 for 0.50 fl. oz.) is described as an “[opaque] … dove-lavender.” It’s a muted, neutral lavender with a creamy finish. It was opaque in two coats, and it flowed well across the nail without pooling along the edges or streaking. Cult Nails My Kind of Cool Aid is slightly cooler. Zoya Lotus is much darker. Essie Cocktail Bling is cooler-toned. Essie Bangle Jangle is warmer, brighter. See comparison swatches.

Maybelline Neon Red ColorSensational Vivid Lipcolor
Maybelline Neon Red ColorSensational Vivid Lipcolor

Maybelline Neon Red ColorSensational Vivid Lipcolor ($7.49 for 0.14 oz.) is a bold, brightened red-orange with strong, warm undertones and a luminous sheen. Maybelline Orange Edge is lighter, more orange than red. Maybelline Infra-red is very similar. Maybelline Vibrant Mandarin is lighter, more orange. MAC Scarlet Ibis is more matte. MAC Cockney is darker. Guerlain Genna is slightly darker. Hourglass Raven is more matte. See comparison swatches.

Neon Red had rich, true-to-tube color with full coverage. The consistency is lightly creamy, slightly slick, and it applied easily without tugging or dragging along the lips. Despite the slickness, I didn’t have issues with the color feathering while I wore it for six hours. It was lightly hydrating and did leave a faint stain behind after it wore away.

Inglot #122R Rainbow Eyeshadow
Inglot #122R Rainbow Eyeshadow

Inglot #122R Rainbow Eyeshadow Pan ($8.00 for 0.09 oz.) is a trio of warm, yellow-toned browns that range from a dirty orange to terracotta to medium-dark brown.  The quality of this trio was quite good across the board, with the bottom shade being really impressive.  All three shades had nice pigmentation, soft textures, and none of them were too powdery.  I had no trouble applying or blending out the colors on the lid, and they do work well together.  I might opt for a lighter inner lid color, just to provide more contrast.  When I wore these three shades together, they lasted seven and a half hours well with some minor fading becoming apparent after eight and a half hours.

#122R Top is a warm, dirty, yellowed tangerine with orange and brown tones and a light satin sparkle. It had good color payoff, and the texture was soft without being too powdery. Maybelline Fierce & Tangy is a cream product, more orange, warmer. MAC Chessa is darker. MAC Juiced is slightly yellower. Dior Aurora #1 is more shimmery. Chanel Tigerlily is similar. OCC Mimosa is slightly warmer, more shimmery. See comparison swatches.

#122R Middle is a medium, terracotta brown with soft sparkle and warm, reddish undertones. It had good pigmentatio and applied smoothly and evenly. MAC Indie Spirit is darker, browner. MAC Body Conscious is not quite as warm-toned. See comparison swatches.

#122R Bottom is medium-dark brown with subtle, warm, red undertones and a soft sparkle. The color payoff was lovely, and the texture was soft, finely-milled but not powdery. NARS Surabaya #1 is slightly darker. MAC Brown Script is less shimmery. MAC Beautyburst is less shimmery. Guerlain Les Fauves #1 is more shimmery. bareMinerals Frisson is lighter. See comparison swatches.
