Laura Mercier Iced Pomegranate, Cinnful, Red Velvet Lip Parfait Creamy Colourbalms

Laura Mercier Iced Pomegranate Lip Parfait Creamy Colourbalm

Laura Mercier Iced Pomegranate Lip Parfait Creamy Colourbalm ($25.00 for 0.12oz.) is a medium-dark, reddish plum with subtle, warm undertones and a natural sheen. It had mostly opaque color payoff with a very smooth, creamy, and balm-like texture that was fairly emollient. The texture is thin enough that it doesn’t feel slippery, but feathering might be a concern for those more prone to it (I didn’t experience it, to be clear). This shade lasted for four and a half hours on me and was hydrating. Estee Lauder Thrilling (P, $30.00) is darker, less glossy (90% similar). Laura Mercier Tutti Frutti (P) is darker, more muted, cooler (85% similar). MAC Candy Apple (LE, $17.00) is lighter, less glossy (85% similar). Bobbi Brown Hibiscus (P, $35.00) is cooler, less glossy (85% similar). See comparison swatches / view dupes side-by-side.

Laura Mercier Cinnful Lip Parfait Creamy Colourbalm ($25.00 for 0.12oz.) is a muted, medium rosy brown with warm undertones and a natural sheen. It had mostly opaque color payoff with a creamy, lightweight texture that glided on and felt very nourishing while worn. The color wore for three and a half hours on me. Bite Beauty Latte (LE, $24.00) is lighter, less glossy (90% similar). MAC Rich Marron (LE, $20.00) is darker, less pigmented (90% similar). Guerlain Garance (P, $55.00) is cooler (85% similar). Estee Lauder Discreet (P, $30.00) is darker, warmer (85% similar). Bobbi Brown Neutral Rose (P, $35.00) is darker, cooler, less glossy (85% similar). Guerlain Avarice (P, $49.50) is darker, cooler, less glossy (85% similar). Bobbi Brown Pink Nude (P, $35.00) is lighter (85% similar). Bobbi Brown Uber Nude (P, $24.00) is darker (85% similar). Maybelline Touchable Taupe (940) (P, $7.49) is darker, warmer (80% similar). Marc Jacobs Beauty Eat Cake (150) (P, $30.00) is lighter (80% similar). See comparison swatches / view dupes side-by-side.

Laura Mercier Red Velvet Lip Parfait Creamy Colourbalm ($25.00 for 0.12oz.) is a bright, pinky-red with subtle, warm undertones and a natural sheen. It had mostly opaque pigmentation, though there was a little more translucency across the board. The consistency was creamy and smooth, which made it comfortable to wear and apply, and I noticed this shade had a bit less slip than the other two. It lasted for four and a half hours on me and was moisturizing over time. Chanel Dimitri (442) (P, $37.00) is warmer (90% similar). Revlon Provocateur (135) (P, $8.99) is darker, warmer (90% similar). Urban Decay Sheer F-Bomb (P, $22.00) is lighter (90% similar). Too Faced Red Stiletto (P, $22.00) is darker, warmer (90% similar). Revlon 5th Ave. Red (LE, $7.99) is darker (90% similar). MAC Cherry Glaze (LE, $20.00) is darker, warmer (85% similar). Maybelline On Fire Red (P, $7.49) is brighter, warmer (85% similar). FORMULA OVERVIEW | Laura Mercier Lip Parfait Creamy Colourbalm ($25.00 for 0.12 oz.) is supposed to have the “comfort of a lip balm, the coverage of a lipstick, and the shine of a gloss.” The formula is really quite pigmented, creamy, and hydrating; their downfall is longevity was typically less than similar-hued shades with a less emollient consistency (not entirely unexpected). There was a slight, sweet scent to them but no discernible taste. It’s a really comfortable formula to wear, and if you don’t mind reapplying or transfer, well worth a look!

L’Oreal Colour Riche Eyeshadows (Part 2)

L'Oreal Petite Perle Colour Riche Eyeshadow

L’Oreal Colour Riche Eyeshadow ($5.99 for 0.12 oz.) is supposed to be “soft, velvety” in texture with “intense pigments for exquisite color richness” and “lasts all day.” The texture is incredibly soft; to the point where I’m not sure these would travel as well as your average powder eyeshadow. The lighter, more matte shades are very white-based and can look chalky on my skin tone but should work better on fairer skin tones or coupled with a smoothing primer. Most of the shades were fairly pigmented and blendable on the lid with good adhesion without a primer with a few exceptions. Unsurprisingly, neutrals were more consistently higher-performing than the bolder/more colorful shades. I did run into wear issues, as all the shades I tried either faded and/or creased within six hours of wear, so I would recommend a primer with these. Initially, they reminded me of formulas like Make Up For Ever Artist Shadow, Kat Von D Metal Crush, etc., but while these have a similar velvety, smooth feel, they are looser once you touch your brush to them.

L’Oreal Petite Perle Colour Riche Eyeshadow ($5.99 for 0.12 oz.) is a light white with subtle, cool undertones and a pearly sheen. It had semi-opaque color payoff with a fairly smooth texture, but it was harder to apply on the lid without it applying unevenly (almost like the color bunched up/thickened in places). The color started to crease after six hours of wear. Sephora + Pantone Universe Antique White (LE) is more shimmery (95% similar). Disney by Sephora Midnight Hour #1 (LE) is more shimmery (95% similar). Zoeva Spun Pearl (P) is more shimmery (95% similar). Tom Ford Beauty Cobalt Rush #1 (P) is more shimmery (95% similar). Tom Ford Beauty Ice Queen #1 (P) is more shimmery (95% similar). MAC Crystal Avalanche (DC, $16.00) is cooler, better quality (95% similar). LORAC Snow (P) is more shimmery, warmer (90% similar). NYX Frostbite (P, $6.00) is more shimmery, brighter, cooler (90% similar). Urban Decay Roadstripe (LE, $19.00) is brighter, cooler (90% similar). Sugarpill Ice Angel (LE) is cooler (90% similar). See comparison swatches / view dupes side-by-side.

L’Oreal Green Promenade Colour Riche Eyeshadow ($5.99 for 0.12 oz.) is a muted, dark green with warm undertones and a sparkling, metallic finish. It had a really soft, lightly loosened consistency in the pan, so there was some fall out during application, but it adhered well enough that I didn’t have issues with further fall out during wear (though it creased after six hours). MAC Sweet & Sour #2 (P, $21.00) is warmer (85% similar). bareMinerals Midnight Luminance (LE) is darker, warmer (85% similar). Anastasia Peacock (P, $12.00) is darker, warmer (80% similar). Giorgio Armani Onyx (05) (P, $38.00) is darker, warmer (80% similar). MAC Silver Sun (P, $20.00) is warmer (80% similar). NYX Jaded (P, $6.00) is darker, warmer (80% similar). See comparison swatches / view dupes side-by-side.

L’Oreal Teal Couture Colour Riche Eyeshadow ($5.99 for 0.12 oz.) is a muted, medium-dark green-teal with cool undertones and a pearly sheen. It had a drier, firmer texture that made it harder to get decent color payoff out of it. I also had issues with applying it to my lid, as it didn’t seem to blend out without becoming patchy/uneven. Urban Decay Junkie (LE, $19.00) is more shimmery, darker, cooler (90% similar). Urban Decay Fringe (P) is cooler (90% similar). Too Faced Too Glam (LE, $16.00) is darker, brighter (90% similar). Colour Pop Flower Shop (LE, $5.00) is more shimmery, lighter (85% similar). Smashbox Pacific (LE) is darker, cooler (85% similar). MAC Shimmermoss (DC, $16.00) is lighter, warmer (85% similar). Too Faced Sequin (LE, $16.00) is darker (85% similar). Make Up For Ever I238 Blue Cedar (P, $21.00) is less shimmery, cooler (85% similar). Makeup Geek Sea Mist (P, $6.00) is lighter, more muted, warmer (85% similar). See comparison swatches / view dupes side-by-side.

MAC Lion Babe Liquidlast Eyeliner

MAC Lion Babe Liquidlast Liner

MAC Lion Babe Liquidlast Liner ($21.00 for 0.084 fl. oz.) is described as a “shimmering gold.” It’s a bright, medium-dark coppery gold with warm, orange undertones and a metallic sheen. MAC Cockiness (LE) is darker, less pigmented (90% similar). MAC Copperthorn (P, $16.00) is more shimmery (85% similar). See comparison swatches / view dupes side-by-side.

The Liquidlast Liner formula is supposed to have “long-lasting wear with a non-smudge, non-flake” formula. It was richly pigmented with a thin consistency that spread easily but sometimes looked a little streaky, so I preferred using it with two layers to ensure smooth, even color. The brush is thin and fine, so it can be used for more precise lines as well as for building-up to thicker lines. The Liquidlast formula is very, very long-wearing–it basically doesn’t budge until it’s time to remove it. I had it on for over twelve hours, and it didn’t budge, fade, or flake. This shade will be released no April 28th as an online exclusive to maccosmetics.com.

Urban Decay x Alice Through the Looking Glass Lipsticks (Part 1)

Urban Decay Alice Through the Looking Glass Lipstick

Urban Decay Alice Alice Through the Looking Glass Lipstick ($18.00 for 0.11 oz.) is described as a “sheer nude with pink shift.” It’s a light-medium peachy-orange with warm undertones and iridescent pink shimmer. The warmer base paired with the finer, cooler shimmer made it harder to dupe, and the sheer coverage will make it one of those shades that can look different from person to person. The texture was creamy, lightweight, and moderately hydrating, though it only lasted for two and a half hours on me. Chanel Jersey Rose (DC, $34.00) is warmer (85% similar). Tarte Bellini (LE, $16.00) is less shimmery, warmer (85% similar). See comparison swatches / view dupes side-by-side.

Urban Decay Mad Hatter Alice Through the Looking Glass Lipstick ($18.00 for 0.11 oz.) is described as a “bright purple shimmer.” It’s a slightly brighter, medium-dark purple with cooler undertones and fine, metallic shimmer. The shimmer wasn’t particularly gritty or noticeable when I pressed my lips together, but I could feel the texture of the shimmer content in the bullet when applying initially. It had semi-opaque color payoff that could have applied a bit more evenly. This shade lasted for five hours and was very lightly hydrating. MAC Violetta (P, $17.00) is brighter, warmer, glossier (90% similar). MAC Own the Look (LE, $19.00) is less shimmery, darker (85% similar). See comparison swatches / view dupes side-by-side.

Urban Decay Time Alice Through the Looking Glass Lipstick ($18.00 for 0.11 oz.) is described as a “gunmetal navy with silver shimmer.” It’s a deep, purpled-blue with cool undertones and gold micro-shimmer and sparkle. It had semi-sheer to semi-opaque coverage with a thin, emollient consistency that was hard to keep in place as it would create “streaks” if I pressed my lips together, while color gathered in lip lines noticeably within an hour of wearing it. I would recommend wearing a lip liner or primer with this one to help it apply more evenly. It lasted for four hours and feathered very slightly on me. Kat Von D Poe (P, $21.00) is less shimmery, darker (90% similar). See comparison swatches / view dupes side-by-side.
