Makeup Geek Infatuation Blush

Makeup Geek Infatuation Blush

Makeup Geek Infatuation Blush ($10.00 for 0.15 oz.) is a medium brown with warm, orange undertones and a mostly matte finish. Zoeva Burning Up (P, $11.80) is cooler (95% similar). MAC Cantaloupe (P, $22.00) is lighter (90% similar). Chanel Destiny (61) (DC, $38.00) is less shimmery, warmer, glossier (90% similar). The Estee Edit First Lover (01) (P, $28.00) is more muted, cooler (90% similar). Makeup Geek Infatuation (P, $9.99) is lighter (90% similar). MAC Bad Girl Gone Good (LE, $22.00) is darker, warmer (90% similar). Laura Mercier Earth (LE, $24.00) is lighter, warmer (85% similar). NARS Gina (P, $30.00) is lighter, warmer (85% similar). MAC Blazing Haute (LE, $25.00) is more shimmery, lighter, warmer (80% similar). MAC Bronzer (LE, $32.00) is lighter, warmer (80% similar). See comparison swatches / view dupes side-by-side.

The formula is supposed to be pigmented, long-wearing, and blendable (for more on how it compares to the previous formula, check out this post). While it is part of the blush range, it could also be used as a bronzer, as it will (obviously!) add warmth to the skin. The texture was finely-milled with a silky, smooth feel to the touch, which translated into easier application and blending on the skin. It had excellent pigmentation, but that softer consistency made it versatile and more buildable depending on how much you applied. The reformulated version is slightly darker and richer than the original shade. The blush wore well for just over eight hours on me when I tried it out.

Ulta’s reps are patient on the phone, but their solutions are just dismal – if a product is broken, I have to send it back before getting a refund (no other retailer/brand has made me do this). Neiman Marcus overnighted a Louboutin polish trio ($90 or something like that) after my order arrived broken without having to be asked for that solution, whereas Ulta makes it a pain to deal with an eyeshadow arriving broken that was $1.99, which is due to poor packaging – a bunch of compacts in a box with no padding or bubble wrap!

MAC x Star Trek Collection
MAC x Star Trek Collection

I have a sneak peek of a sneak peek featuring MAC x Star Trek Collection, as I received a few pieces from the launch, but there are several more products releasing (about double what you see here) that I don’t have. I’m waiting to get official promotional imagery, and once I have that, I’ll post info about all the shades, but the pertinent details are: pre-sale for attendees of Comic Con right now, available online August 25th and in-stores September 1st (North America) at select locations. The collection features matte black packaging with a metallic silver Star Trek logo with the same style for the boxes.
