Ardency Inn Tangerine MODSTER Manuka Honey Enriched Pigments
Ardency Inn Tangerine MODSTER Manuka Honey Enriched Pigments

Ardency Inn MODSTER Manuka Honey Enriched Pigments ($21.00 for 0.06 oz.) is a new eyeshadow formula that’s supposed to have “superior color payoff” and “ultralong-lasting wear, even without an eye primer” due to “high-grade silicon waxes.” This is an impressive eyeshadow formula, particularly if you love your shimmery finishes! I will review all twelve shades in due time, but you can view swatches of all of them here. The shimmer finishes have an extraordinarily creamy, buttery, smooth texture with amazing color payoff. The satin/matte finishes are soft, finely-milled, but less creamy and a bit powdery, but they remained blendable and fairly easy to use. The pearly shades seemed almost wet in the pan with less intensity and a slightly thinner consistency than the more frosted shades. All of the shades below lasted for ten hours on me without creasing/fading. And can we just have a moment to admire Royal?

Also, the pans seem to be only held in by a magnet, so if you have a stronger magnet (to lift it out) or steady hands and tweezer, they do come out of the pan.

Updated on 8/26 at 9:03PM PST: Thanks to reader Tugce, who visited Ardency Inn’s website and noted the following was listed: “In the USA, do not use “Royal”, “Orchid”, “Tangerine” and “Punch” near the eyes.” This is information that really SHOULD be listed on Sephora.

Ardency Inn Tangerine MODSTER Manuka Honey Enriched Pigments ($21.00 for 0.06 oz.) is described as a “matte yellow orange with a neon kick.” It’s a brightened, yellowed orange with a mostly matte finish. It had good pigmentation, and the texture was soft, finely-milled, and velvety, though a smidgen powdery. It lasted for ten hours before fading. Sleek MakeUP Acid #4 (P, $9.99) is a touch lighter. Wet ‘n’ Wild A Regular at the Factory #3 (LE, $2.29) is darker. Inglot #122R Top (P, $6.00) is yellower. Maybelline Fierce & Tangy (P, $6.99) is a cream product. MAC Juiced (DC, $15.00) is yellower. Illamasqua Vulgar (P) is darker. See comparison swatches / view dupes.

Ardency Inn Orchid MODSTER Manuka Honey Enriched Pigments ($21.00 for 0.06 oz.) is described as a “bright fuchsia with extreme blue reflects.” It’s a vibrant, fuchsia-purple with cool, blue undertones and a bluish-violet shimmer-sheen. It had incredibly rich color payoff that went on smoothly and evenly, lasted for ten hours, and was a dream to apply. NARS Rage (LE, $24.00) is more muted, lighter. Maybelline Pink Rebel (P, $6.99) is lighter. Too Faced Totally Fetch (LE, $16.00) is pinker. Urban Decay Fishnet (P, $18.00) is more muted, less shimmery. MAC Stars ‘n’ Rockets (P, $15.00) is lighter. bareMinerals Boudoir (P) is more muted, less shimmery. See comparison swatches / view dupes.

Ardency Inn Punch MODSTER Manuka Honey Enriched Pigments ($21.00 for 0.06 oz.) is described as a “matte bright coral with neon pink and yellow undertones.” It’s a brightened, coral-red with a matte finish and warm undertones. It had fairly good color payoff, while the texture was a little powdery, it was soft, finely-milled, and easy to blend. It lasted for ten hours before fading. Makeup Geek Razzleberry (P, $5.99) is more shimmery. MAC Full of Flavour (LE, $15.00) is lighter. MAC More Amour (P, $21.00) is darker. See comparison swatches / view dupes.

Ardency Inn Royal MODSTER Manuka Honey Enriched Pigments ($21.00 for 0.06 oz.) is described as a “royal purple with red undertones and slight blue reflects.” It’s an insanely intense, vibrant violet purple with cool, blue undertones and a soft, frosted finish. A little goes a very long way with this shade! The texture was soft, buttery, and smooth, while it was easy to blend on the skin. It wore well for ten hours and still hadn’t faded/creased. Fyrinnae Parental Advisory (DC, $8.25) is lighter. Fyrinnae Parental Advisory (P, $6.80) is cooler-toned. Disney by Sephora Sea Witch (LE) is more muted. Urban Decay Ransom (DC, $18.00) is more muted. MAC Pink Union #2 (LE, $21.00) is slightly warmer. See comparison swatches / view dupes.

Zoya India, Teigen, Autumn Nail Lacquer
Zoya India, Teigen, Autumn Nail Lacquers

Zoya India Nail Lacquer ($9.00 for 0.50 fl. oz.) is described as a “deep, luxurious red with a gold liquid metallic shimmer.” It’s a deep, blackened reddish wine with gold sparkle that looks more like a mix of gold and copper, depending on the angle and lighting. It was fully opaque after two coats of polish, and it applied smoothly and evenly. I didn’t notice any brush strokes, but the consistency did run a little thick. It didn’t seem to impede application. Essie Toggle to the Top (P, $8.00) has much larger sparkle/glitter. Chanel Malice (LE, $27.00) is much darker with finer shimmer. Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics Black Metal Dahlia (P, $10.00) is darker with finer shimmer. Illamasqua Charisma (P, $17.00) has finer shimmer. Dior Apparat (LE, $24.00) has finer shimmer. China Glaze Sugar Plums (LE, $7.50) is less shimmer, larger sparkle. See comparison swatches / view dupes.

Zoya Teigen Nail Lacquer ($9.00 for 0.50 fl. oz.) is described as a “pink-toned cranberry with a copper liquid metal.” It’s a pinkish-red with gold sparkle and subtle, cool undertones. It was semi-opaque after two coats, but I found the consistency to be a little watery, which resulted in sheerer coverage. Chanel Rouge Moire (LE, $27.00) has finer shimmer, warmer. Zoya Bobbi (P, $9.00) is pinker, lighter. Urban Decay Hot Mess (LE) is less golden, darker. SpaRitual Break of Dawn (LE, $10.00) is similar. Zoya Reva (P, $9.00) is slightly darker. Zoya Blaze (P, $9.00) is darker, redder. See comparison swatches / view dupes.

Zoya Autumn Nail Lacquer ($9.00 for 0.50 fl. oz.) is described as a “varnished copper liquid metal.” It’s a medium-dark, reddish copper with flecks of gold and copper shimmer. It was fully opaque after two coats with a slightly thicker consistency. There were very subtle brush strokes that I could see, but only under brighter lighting conditions. MAC Styleseeker (LE, $16.00) is darker, with finer shimmer. Le Metier de Beaute Silk Road (LE, $10.00) is darker. China Glaze Harvest Moon (LE, $7.50) is browner, more golden. Zoya Tanzy (P, $9.00) is lighter, more orange. See comparison swatches / view dupes.

Kat Von D Wonderchilde Studded Kiss Lipstick
Kat Von D Wonderchilde Studded Kiss Lipstick

Kat Von D Wonderchilde Studded Kiss Lipstick ($21.00 for 0.10 oz.) is described as an “iridescent neon lilac.” It’s a brightened, medium-dark fuchsia-leaning purple with lighter violet and lavender sparkle and shimmer. It had more of a frosted, slightly metallic, finish. This isn’t like Kat Von D L.U.V. (P, $21.00), which has a matte finish. Too Faced Lollipop (P, $22.00) is more fuchsia, glossier. Milani Violet Volt (P, $5.49) is pinker. MAC Violetta (P, $16.00) is darker, pinker. See comparison swatches / view dupes.

After testing several of the mattes and having little luck, I thought I’d try one of the more shimmery shades I bought to change it up. Wonderchilde is definitely better, but it’s not a knock-your-socks-off shade like Poe. It had semi-opaque color coverage that went on evenly, as the consistency was lightly creamy, on the thin side (so lightweight), and was fairly comfortable to wear. It didn’t drag or tug at the lips much, and it lasted for six hours when worn without being drying. It has a creme brulee scent but no discernible taste.

Sephora #27 Pro Blending Brush
Sephora #27 Pro Blending Brush

Sephora #27 Pro Blending Brush ($20.00) is a fluffy, medium-sized rounded brush designed for blending made out of goat hair. The brush head is 14mm in length, 9mm in width, and 6mm in thickness. It had a total length of 178mm with a pinched, metal ferrule. It is fairly soft, lightly fluffy with moderate spring and works in a variety of ways. I like using it to apply a highlighter to my brow bone, and then blend downwards to the crease color, but it can also be used to apply all-over color to the lid, to set or blend out concealer, or to blend out any harsh edges between eyeshadows. It is similar to MAC 217 and Hakuhodo J5523.

Sephora #73 Pro Precision Blush Brush ($32.00) is a small-medium, flattened blush brush with a strongly tapered edge. It is made with natural pony bristles. The brush head is 31mm in length, 26mm in width, and 15mm in thickness. It had a total length of 210mm with a pinched, metal ferrule. This is a feathery, lighter-weight blush brush with a lot of spring and give, so I’ve found it ideal for applying blush and highlighting powders for a subtler application/color. It is moderately soft, but if you tend to use a stippling or tapping motion to apply your brush, you may want to look for a softer brush.

Sephora’s Pro brushes have longer handles than the average brush brand, but they’re weighted well, so they don’t feel awkward in the hand. They seem to use high quality printing on the handles, too, as none of mine show signs of fading/wear for the names.
