Makeup Revolution Golden Lights Vivid Baked Highlighter Powder

Makeup Revolution Golden Lights Vivid Baked Highlighter Powder

Makeup Revolution Golden Lights Vivid Baked Highlighter Powder ($6.00 for 0.26 oz.) is a white gold with strong, yellow-gold shimmer. Sephora Stardust (01) (P, $14.00) is less shimmery (95% similar). NYX Ritualistic (P, $9.00) is warmer (95% similar). Anastasia Marshmallow (LE) is more shimmery (95% similar). Anastasia Sunburst (LE) is more shimmery, darker (90% similar). Sleek MakeUP Subsolar (P) is lighter, cooler (90% similar). NARS Albatross (P, $29.00) is less shimmery, lighter (90% similar). Too Faced Rosy Glow (Left) (P) is lighter (90% similar). Anastasia Summer (LE) is more shimmery, darker (90% similar). Wet 'n' Wild Sun Ceremony (LE, $2.99) is less shimmery, darker (90% similar). Colour Pop Stole the Show (P, $8.00) is lighter (85% similar). See comparison swatches / view dupes side-by-side.

The formula is supposed to give “natural looking color” with buildable coverage that wears “all day.” It has a stronger, more dramatic golden sheen compared to some versions of this shade (probably the most well-known is NARS’ Albatross) that pulls yellower on me rather than white, which should make it more versatile for a greater number of skin tones. However, the white base is visible and almost appears grayish against my warmer skin tone, which may or may not be something that you’re looking for. The shimmer gives a noticeable sheen and glow to the skin, not quite metallic or frosted, but it is a medium-level highlighter overall. The texture was blendable but felt a little soft, powdery, and a smidgen dry in the pan, but I didn’t find it looked that way on the skin. On me, the highlighter lasted just over six and a half hours.

Saks Extra 10% Off Sitewide | Including Beauty & Fragrance July 22nd through July 24th

Saks Fifth Avenue

SAKS is offering 10% off sitewide, which includes beauty and fragrance, now through July 24th with code SAKS5A. (There are some designer exclusions.)  Below you’ll find what I’ll personally be picking up along with some of my higher-end favorites–for 10% off, I typically focus on brands that almost never go on sale (like Cle de Peau or Tom Ford) or just-released items that aren’t available elsewhere yet (speaking of which, just saw a few of Dior’s fall collection pop online this morning)! What do you have your eye on?

On my list…

Editor’s Picks

Nordstrom Anniversary Sale Early Access Now Live!

NORDSTROM - Nordstrom Credit Cardholders: Shop Anniversary Sale Early Access through July 21!

I am a personal fan of the annual Nordstrom Anniversary sale (right after this post, I’m indulging myself in some window shopping and hunting down of my basics, like some go-to jeans and tops and trying to avoid the shoe department like the plague). Here are some beauty exclusives that are on my list to pick up… (P.S. If you’re curious about what I get that’s non-beauty, let me know and I’ll share!)

What I grabbed…

Non-Beauty

Beauty Exclusive Highlights

These are some of the more interesting products that I saw on the site this morning.  I am tempted to pick-up the La Mer set as a treat for my mom for her birthday (which isn’t until November), but we’ll see. You can view all of the Beauty Exclusives hereWhat’s on your list?  What did you haul?

Free for Haul Friday, Volume #350

Share any beauty goodies you may have picked up in the last week or so, or maybe what’s on your way or on your wish list for next week or month. 🙂

  • Haul: My Nordstrom Anniversary sale picks came in late yesterday! I also just placed orders at Saks (a few pieces from Dior fall, Cle de Peau fall) and the new MUFE Arist Palette (Vol. 4) – probably will mention those again next week when they actually arrive!
  • Weekend plans: Relax, get back into the swing of things! My mom and grandma were visiting earlier this week, so while I was still tending to things on the blog, I did write a lot of posts in advance so I could spend more time with them. It always throws me off a bit to get back to full-time!
  • What’s the best part about summer?: Normally, I would say warmer weather, but here it’s warm, warmer, and then surface of the sun during the summer! I think monsoon season is going to be my new favorite thing, because I never saw lightning like I have in Arizona during monsoon season!

The funniest part is he knows I'll grab the fallen toy and give it back to him! 😂

Charlotte Tilbury Liv It Up, Bosworth’s Beauty, Electric Poppy Hot Lips Lipsticks

Charlotte Tilbury Liv It Up Lipstick

Charlotte Tilbury Liv It Up Lipstick ($32.00 for 0.12 oz.) is a medium pink with subtle, warm undertones and a creamy, lightly glossy finish. It had mostly opaque pigmentation that applied somewhat evenly, but it had moderate slip and moved around on the lips easily so it looked streaky at times. The color lasted for four hours, while the formula was lightly hydrating. MAC Please Me (P, $17.00) is lighter, less glossy (90% similar). Urban Decay Criminal (P, $17.00) is warmer (90% similar). Make Up For Ever C210 (P, $22.00) is warmer (90% similar). Bite Beauty Sorbet (P, $26.00) is warmer (90% similar). Colour Pop 1st Base (P, $6.00) is cooler, less glossy (85% similar). MAC Sweet Venom (LE, $17.00) is lighter, brighter (85% similar). Bobbi Brown Pink Kiss (P, $26.00) is lighter (85% similar). Tom Ford Beauty Pink Tease (03) (P, $50.00) is lighter (80% similar). MAC Faux (P, $17.00) is darker (80% similar). See comparison swatches / view dupes side-by-side.

Charlotte Tilbury Bosworth’s Beauty Lipstick ($32.00 for 0.12 oz.) is a bright, medium peony pink with warm undertones and a semi-matte finish. It had good color coverage, but it’s not what I’d call buildable as it starts of nearly opaque. The texture is thin, a little clingy, and isn’t the most flattering consistency on the lip as it accentuates any imperfections/texture on the lips. It lasted for four hours and was neither drying nor hydrating. Colour Pop Fetch (P, $5.00) is lighter (85% similar). Bite Beauty Sweety (LE, $24.00) is lighter, warmer (85% similar). MAC Silly (LE, $17.00) is lighter (80% similar). Marc Jacobs Beauty Jolly Molly (220) (P, $30.00) is lighter, glossier (80% similar). Maybelline Pink Sugar (P, $7.99) is lighter (80% similar). See comparison swatches / view dupes side-by-side.

Charlotte Tilbury Electric Poppy Lipstick ($32.00 for 0.12 oz.) is a bright, medium-dark reddish fuchsia with warmer tones and a matte finish. It had mostly opaque coverage that applied evenly and smoothly with a light, thin consistency that did emphasize the natural texture of my lips. This shade lasted for five hours and was a little drying while settling into lip lines slightly. Maybelline Fiery Fuchsia (P, $7.49) is cooler (95% similar). MAC To Matte with Love (P, $20.00) is warmer, less glossy (90% similar). Colour Pop Mars (P, $6.00) is less glossy (90% similar). Colour Pop Cougar (LE, $5.00) is cooler (90% similar). MAC All Fired Up (P, $17.00) is darker (90% similar). MAC Moxie (LE, $17.00) is lighter, brighter, cooler (90% similar). Tarte Selfish (P, $20.00) is lighter, brighter (90% similar). Maybelline All Fired Up (P, $7.99) is warmer (90% similar). NARS Greta (P, $32.00) is lighter, brighter, glossier (80% similar). Make Up For Ever M204 (P, $22.00) is darker, more muted (85% similar). Colour Pop Brooklyn (P, $6.00) is lighter (85% similar). Too Faced It's Happening (P, $21.00) is cooler, less glossy (85% similar). See comparison swatches / view dupes side-by-side.

FORMULA OVERVIEW | Charlotte Tilbury Lipstick ($32.00 for 0.12 oz.) has two variations–the original, Kissing, and the matte, Matte Revolution, both of which are featured in the Hot Lips collection. The Kissing formula is supposed to be pigmented and luminous, while also being hydrating, while the Matte Revolution formula is designed to be matte, buildable, hydrating, and long-wearing in a matte finish. The Kissing range is creamier, light-medium in weight, comfortable and hydrating, and average wearing (three to five hours with most shades). The Matte Revolution formula feels velvety, thinner and somewhat clingy (I find that they can sometimes emphasize the texture of my lips or highlight imperfections), wear four to six hours, and are drying to lightly hydrating. Both formulas have a sweet, vanilla scent with no discernible taste.
