I have two types of placement that I gravitate toward. The first is light to dark,
going from inner to outer lid/crease, and the second is with the lightest shade on the center of the lid with darker shades on the outer and inner portions of the lid. I usually work from light to dark, so regardless of the placement, I tend to start there.
If I’m doing a look using exactly what I want, I will use things like transition shades, base shades, and the like, but I’m often working within a more limited selection of textures/shades, so I go light to dark and then use one of the darkest shades in the crease. I’ll often fade the crease to the brow bone using one of the lighter, lid colors and then use a soft beige shade for my brow bone. I like use flat, dome-shaped brushes (like MAC 239s) for applying color to the lid and if I want a really rich, intense crease color. Otherwise, I use medium, tapered crease brushes (but not too pointed) to apply and blend out the crease and brow bone color.

Jouer Rose Rose Gold Long-Wear Lip Crème Liquid Lipstick ($18.00 for 0.21 fl. oz.) is a muted, medium-dark pink-plum with neutral-to-warm undertones and a metallic shimmer. It had semi-opaque color payoff that could be built up to full coverage with two layers (I recommend waiting for the initial layer to dry). The liquid lipstick was thin without being watery, and it was still spreadable, so I had no trouble applying it to the lips. It wore well for six and a half hours and was just a touch drying after five hours of wear.

The formula is supposed to be “weightless” with “full coverage color” that “lasts all day.” It is the type of liquid lipstick that dries to a matte, transfer-proof finish. I find the formula varies from semi-opaque to opaque coverage with the more metallic shades often being more semi-opaque and buildable. The texture is thin but not watery, so they dry down a little faster than average, but I rarely feel like I don’t have enough time to apply or that the application is difficult. The wear ranges from five to eight hours, depending on the shade, and the formula is non-drying to slightly drying, depending on the shade. The formula has a strong, sweet scent–almost like caramel and vanilla to me.

Kat Von D Skully Everlasting Lip Liner ($18.00 for 0.009 oz.) is a deep black with neutral undertones and a smattering of silver micro-sparkle over a matte finish. It had good color coverage in one pass, though it took two layers for full opacity. The texture was drier initially but became creamier as I used more of the product. It did not apply evenly, though it wasn’t the worst that I have tried in the range. The color stayed on for five and a half hours and was neither drying nor hydrating while worn.

The Everlasting Lip Liner is supposed to have “24-hour wear” with “water-resistant wear and weightless color” that has the “ultimate pigmentation.” It was created to be paired with Kat Von D’s liquid and regular lipstick ranges but also “worn on its own.” The formula has been fairly creamy, which made it easy to line the edges of my lips, but the skinnier pencil made it less practical for really filling in the lips. I also felt like that, while creamy, some shades still skipped when I attempted to fill in my lips. The texture was more of a soft matte initially, which enabled me to press my lips together and even out some of the product before it fully dried down. It was water-resistant, and I had no trouble drinking water or coffee, but I’ve yet to try one that actually made it through a meal particularly well–they all wore substantially away from the center of the lips and turn patchy by the end of a meal. The Everlasting Liquid Lipsticks tend to wear longer on me, actually. The formula was neither drying nor hydrating. Some were more wearable (in terms of evenness) on their own than others.
