Temptalia Asks You

Is there a such thing as too young for makeup? Can someone start getting into makeup at too young of an age?

Personally, yes, I think so. I feel like as long as we can prolong childhood… we should. Growing up and becoming an adult, or even a teenager, is not always enjoyable. I would like girls to enjoy being naturally beautiful, loving themselves for who they are, before they start playing with makeup. Makeup is all good and fun, but sometimes younger minds get sucked into the concept of standardized beauty and having to look a certain way or not being pretty without makeup – that’s when I think there’s a such thing as too young!

MAC has recently opened up The Originals national contest, which can be entered online to US residents age 18 or older.  I encourage you all to enter, but make sure you enter soon, as they take 1-2 days to review and accept your entry.  This is the look I used to enter the contest…

I used Chartreuse pigment on all over lid, Overgrown eyeshadow on lid, Electric Eel eyeshadow on crease, Freshwater eyeshadow above crease, Gorgeous Gold eyeshadow on brow, Aqualine liquid last liner on lower lash line, Overgrown eyeshadow below lower lash line, Reflects Turquatic glitter on outer lower lash line, Blacktrack fluidline on upper lash line, Reflects Turquatic glitter on upper lash line. I wore Sunbasque blush with Sculpt sculpting powder to contour and Dancing Light beauty powder to highlight. I had Fun Fun lipstick with Poetique lipglass and Reflects Bronze glitter on my lips.

In celebration of the 2008 Golden Globe Awards, L’Oréal Paris continues its tradition of honoring Hollywood’s most talented women in film and television with an exclusive, luxury compact. Designed by Kwiat, one of Hollywood’s favorite diamond jewelry companies, the L’Oréal Paris 2008 Red Carpet Compact will be presented to the Golden Globes’ female nominees in all categories.

The L’Oréal Paris 2008 Red Carpet Compact is inspired by the glamour of awards season and the stars that make the night so special. In a beautiful, star-inspired design of Swarovski crystals set in 18K white gold on classic plated 18K yellow gold, this exclusive compact is a stunning design of beauty and brilliance. Complete with a “red-carpet” ruby crystal embedded in the push-button opening holding together two makeup mirrors on the inside, the L’Oréal Paris 2008 Red Carpet Compact is a luxurious, must-have red carpet accessory for each nominee to ensure she looks her best throughout the evening.

This stunning compact isn’t just for the stars. The L’Oréal Paris Red Carpet compact will be available to purchase at L’Oréal Paris retail stores (888-270-7743; suggested retail price $50). In keeping with L’Oréal Paris’ longstanding support of the OCRF, 20 percent of the retail sale price will benefit this vital organization.

For those who want the true Golden Globes experience of luxury and glamour, L’Oréal Paris has commissioned a limited edition gold and diamond version of the L’Oréal Paris Red Carpet Compact, valued at $4,900, to raise additional funds for the OCRF. Two of these compacts will be listed for sale through eBay Giving Works, eBay’s dedicated program for charity listings, with all funds generated benefiting the OCRF. The compacts will be auctioned on www.ebay.com/lorealparis beginning January 4 through January 14 with an opening bid of $500.

Why must it always be an international site that manages to break the stories the quickest?  Sadly, I am only an English speaker (I took French for five years, but please, let’s not go there).  Zghzp delivered this color story, in Chinese (see Google translation here), and I must tell you, I certainly hope that as we get closer to February, information for the US launch trickles out, because I am hard-pressed to believe that a collaboration collection would feature as many repromotes/permanent colors as the site says. This is why I’m not a fan of incomplete info!  I want everything – product photos, full color story, and exact descriptions and names.

Are you still excited over Fafi?

Do you buy products you know don’t work for you? For example, is a product’s pretty packaging something that might get you to buy something or a color you know just won’t be right for you?
