Hard Candy Launches @ Walmart Next Week!

Hard Candy Launches @ Walmart Next Week!

In just one week, Hard Candy, a colorful, tempting and addictive cosmetic brand will be hitting the mass market shelve at the largest retailer in the world – Walmart. It’s the first time a prestige cosmetics collection has gone mass and features unique, specialty products.

Hard Candy products have formulas that are worthy of the prestige market and ahead of the trends with star products like Painted Lady Manic Shine Intense lip color, Eye Tattoo and Balm Girls Tinted Lip Balms. There is a nod to the company’s storied heritage featuring Just Nails polish (yes, the rings are there!), Eye Candy shadows and Fortune Gloss – complete with a tiny Magic 8 ball.

Unique components and stellar merchandising clearly sets the brand apart from its mass brand neighbors. Hard Candy looks like it belongs in Sephora but the pricing totally defies the product offering. Hard Candy is a collaboration between NuWorld Beauty and Walmart insuring that mass market consumers will have access to an out of the box, forward thinking, fun, affordable, quality cosmetics brand. Walmart’s commitment to beauty has been matched with Hard Candy’s drive toward innovative break though style.

MAC Dazzleglass Creme Collection:

MAC Dazzleglass Creme

MAC’s Dazzleglass Creme Collection features nine shades of their newest gloss formula–dazzleglass creme. The new formula is kind of like the pigmentation of a lipglass with the texture of cremesheen glass and the shimmer of dazzleglass. It’s non-sticky, fairly thick (but not overly so, just not thin or feels sheer like dazzleglass–more like cremesheen glass, but perhaps touch thicker) and doesn’t feel heavy, and the majority of the shades are more pigmented. I think they deliberately made some shades sheerer than others to offer customers variety, so I don’t knock the sheerer shades for lacking pigmentation.

I’m actually VERY pleased with the Dazzleglass Creme collection! I’d actually recommend checking these out if you enjoy dazzleglass or lipglass, because you get enough color and pigmentation that they’re not just sheer shimmery concoctions. They have a lot of the sparkle and oomph of dazzleglass but the intensity of lipglass. There are lots of shades to love, though there are a few that feel too redundant to really merit getting all nine (unless you’re addicted, like yours truly!).

Must-Haves: Amorous, Creme Allure, Do It Up, Luscious Spark
Nice-to-Haves: Perfectly Unordinary, Totally Fab
Skip: No need to get Perfectly Unordiniary, My Favourite Pink, AND Soft Dazzle — they’re SO similar!

Recommendation: If you like a gloss that’s not sticky, has lots of shimmer, and decent pigmentation, definitely try out a dazzleglass creme!

MAC Style Black Collection: Overall Review & Round-Up

OVERALL, Style Black puts out an interesting mix of products all that take inspiration from shades of black. There’s such a wide mix of different types of products — from mattenes to mineralize eyeshadows to the new greasepaint stick. I think some will love it, others will be leery of it, and still others will be unimpressed. I’m kind of in the middle; I appreciate the collection for its uniqueness amongst prior MAC launches, and I do like seeing a variety of products. I also like how a lot of the colors coordinate across product types (e.g. Glimmerglasses and Nail Lacquers). If you like mineralize eyeshadows, you’ll likely fall for these (I recommend using them wet!), and if you like jelly-esque glosses, Glimmerglass might catch your eye. My favorite part of the launch was easily the two new nail lacquers (Seriously Hip and Baby Goth Girl)!

Edited: If you want something from this collection, I think you can make it work for you.  Not every product is perfect right out of the box/tube, so if something about it calls to you, don’t be afraid to see how it works for you.  Use a concealer base (or MAC Lip Erase) to help combat some of lipstick unevenness/application issues; lip liner to prevent intense lip colors from bleeding; sheer glosses over more intense lip color to add dimension; and so on.  It’s just a matter of what you’re looking for, whether you want to experiment to see what works best, etc.  Personally, I like things to work well with little effort, but that’s just me. :)

Must-Haves: Seriously Hip Nail Lacquer, Bling Black Glimmerglass, Volcanic Ash Exfoliator, Black Greasepaint Stick
Nice-to-Haves: Baby Goth Girl Nail Lacquer, Night Violet Mattene, Midnight Media Mattene, Blackfire Glimmerglass, Volcanic Ash Thermal Mask
Skip: Black Knight Lipstick, Nocturnelle Nail Lacquer
