The Pink Report: Where do you fall?

The Pink Report: Where do you fall?

Recently, I saw an overview/teaser of The Pink Report, which is a study of Women & Walmart as Beauty and Personal Care consumers. It seems like an interesting study, if the teaser is any indication, though as a mere beauty blogger, $1500 for the full study is out of my budget!

I thought I would share with you the part that was the most surprising to me–both as a beauty enthusiast, as well as looking at my so un-beauty aware family members–that 22% of women in the study spent under $50 a year on annual beauty spending of color and facial skin care.  I guess I am still continually surprised that more women (and people in general) don’t have to stick to meticulous skincare regimens (just thinking SPF and cleanser, even).  I wish I could be one of those people who didn’t have to do anything to their skin!  (My parents are both examples of those people!)

I know where I fall.  I think even when I first got into beauty, I was there–cleanser, toner, makeup remover, SPF, and a night cream can really add up, even if you buy affordable products, on an annual basis.

Do you get your beauty on at Walmart?  Where do you fall?

RECOMMENDATION: If you’ve been on the hunt for a pigmented, cool-toned baby pink with a bit of glitz and glam, Angelika might be the one for you.  It’s most flattering on cooler skin tones, but warmer skin tones can wear it well when complemented with certain shades.

Becca Shantung Eyeshadow

Becca Shantung Eyeshadow

Becca Shantung Eyeshadow ($24.00 for 0.03 oz.) is a beautiful warmed-up molten brown with bronze shimmer and golden sheen. It has subtle red undertones, and it’s such a gorgeous bronze shade. The texture is smooth, soft, and almost buttery, but without any powderiness. It almost feels like it melts onto the skin (but it’s not a cream, it is a powder).

What a great first shadow for me to try from Becca! However, the higher price point accompanied by the below average quantity has me a bit jarred. Really, 0.03 oz.? Most high-end brands at similar price points put at least 0.05 oz., which is nearly double.

RECOMMENDATION: For a beautiful bronze, Becca’s Shangtung doesn’t disappoint in color, quality, or pay off. Just in value.

He Says: Renee Rouleau Luxe Mint Cleansing Gel Review & Photos

The Tech GuyShaun, aka The Tech Guy, aka my boyfriend, is back from the depths…  I mean… vacation.  He’s twenty-seven with normal-to-dry skin and suffers from no more acne (much to my envy!).  And who always gets into the products I’m totally digging!  (I reviewed this product a few weeks ago here.)  Why doesn’t he use products that I’m just so-so on?  I think there’s less than 1/4 left!

Shaun enjoys long walks on the beach, vegging out on the couch watching chick flicks, and cuddling with Mellan. Or maybe not! He handles all the behind-the-scenes action here at Temptalia, from tech support to server woes to being my shoulder to cry on.

It’s been weeks… Months…. Years… Days… Probably like a half an hour… I’ve been locked in the Temptalia Vault coding and creating videos when I was finally released from my tomb. I saw the light, AND IT BURNED! I’ll allow that Simpsons reference to fester a bit… Anybody? *crickets* They used to be good I swear.

After my dark period, I went to the TV and turned it on, I exclaimed: “SOCCER?! Did we lose a war?! What’s that buzzing sound? Were we taken over by Bees? What the hell is a Vuvuzela?!” Anyway, as this is a beauty blog I should probably talk about something beauty-related.

MAC In the Groove Online! Alice + Olivia!

MAC In the Groove Online! (And Alice + Olivia!)

Hey all! It’s 5:30AM PST, but at least now I can fully sleep… LOL. Kept waking up (unintentionally!) every 45 minutes to check.  MAC Cosmetics looks like it has it up now!   Nordstrom has most of it – the MSF page still isn’t updating to reflect all four, just Comfort.  I’ve gotten some reports in that MACPRO also has it up.  Alice + Olivia is also up.

Edited @ 6:27am (PST)Officially up with launch pages:  Alice + Olivia; In the Groove.

Edited @ 7:30am (PST):   Yes, Stereo Rose is showing as sold out (U.S. site).  Other retailers (Macy’s, Nordstrom, Dillards, Bloomingdale’s) should have separate stock and come online shortly.  If you see one pop up, leave a comment so I can update the most in case I miss it.  Nordstrom still isn’t showing the other MSFs online, and I did a LiveChat with them, but nothing helpful yet.

Edited @ 10:14am (PST): Nordstrom is now showing Stereo Rose (along with the other MSFs) available!

Edited @ 8:51pm (PST): I ordered at 6:49am (PST) and my Stereo Rose is on backorder, and while the representative said that since it sold out so fast, they are “trying to get more,” I will remain skeptical.  Sadface, since it means I might not have a Stereo Rose to swatch and review for you all.  I put one on hold at my local MAC on Saturday, called tonight, and they couldn’t locate it. 🙁  I put another one on hold, but we will have to wait and see if it’s there on Thursday.

FREE SHIPPING: Try using code LASH710 or code MACAO.  For Nordstrom beauty orders over $50, you can use the code BEAUTY for $5 shipping; free shipping for $200+ orders.

REVIEWS:  All reviews for both collections (In the Groove is only limited reviews right now) here.

Share your hauls in the comments! 🙂

P.S. – Stereo Rose and Comfort are *most* flattering for warm skin tones; Petticoat and By Candlelight for cool skin tones — BUT BUT BUT — all four work well on most skin tones in general. Petticoat and By Candlelight are definitely universally flattering, Comfort may turn orange on some, and Stereo Rose is typically flattering on most.

My haul? 1 of everything from In the Groove, plus a couple doubles, so I can photograph, swatch, and review everything!  Anything that’s a duplicate was bought to giveaway.  Yes, expect giveaways! Don’t even ask how much that cost.  You can add it up.  I’m pretending like I didn’t see the totals… Yes, totals.
