MAC Soiree Nail Lacquer

MAC Soiree Nail Lacquer

MAC Soiree Nail Lacquer ($13.00 for 0.50 fl. oz.) is a is a bright, light bronze metallic-frost with flecks of copper shimmer-glitter. It has a frost finish, and MAC officially describes it as a “sparkly light bronze gold.”  While it’s a frost finish, it is also a bit metallic.  This is really pigmented–swatches are shown with just one coat–and really easy to work with.  It dries down quicker than most MAC polishes.  It initially reminded me of Dior’s Timeless Gold, but it’s nowhere near it–warmer, darker, bronzer.  Zoya’s Austine is the closest dupe I could come up with, but the finish is quite different, and Soiree is darker.

MAC Cham-Pale is a limited edition launch (official information and photos here) that is set to launch in-stores on December 26th in North American, January 2011 for international MAC locations. The approximate launch date for online is December 24th. It features color products as well as a few skincare items.

RECOMMENDATION: This was so easy to work with, and the pigmentation was incredible. Very festive, too!

AVAILABILITY: MAC Cosmetics on December 26th (U.S. stores), January 2011 (International)

MAC Cham-Pale Collection… It’s coming!

I’ve spent the past several hours photographing, swatching, cropping, and now begins the process of reviewing.  Stay tuned–am trying to get through all of the reviews today.  I will review Stylishly Yours separately, and those reviews will not be available until Sunday or Monday, depending on how much I’m able to get done today.

Guerlain Blush G Serie Noire

Guerlain Blush G Serie Noire ($65.00 for 0.28 oz.) is a pink and coral lover’s dream. There are four distinct shades in the palette, though it is expected to use either the two top shades or the two bottom shades together at the very least. It’s not really feasible to use just one of the shades individually, as the size of each strip doesn’t lend itself to that–perhaps the upper most shade which is also the largest stripe.

There is a coral-red strip with subtle gold shimmer, a softened fuchsia pink with gold sheen, a peachy-pink with gold sheen, and finally a soft rose pink with pale gold sheen. When swirled together, I managed to find a shade of medium peach-pink with gold sheen, which I found a bit like NARS Orgasm (and the many dupes for it). However, keep in mind that it easily gets darker, more coral, or lighter, pinker, depending on the concentration of each shade you use.

I swished my brush across the surface (once forward, one back), then tapped against my forearm to remove any excess product, and applied to cheeks (using MAC’s 116 brush). On me, it was a pinked coral with subtle gold sheen. As someone who loves corals, peaches, and variations on them, this moves me. The black lacquered palette is beautiful, and the design of the shades inside is beyond elegant.  The texture is smooth, soft, and easy to blend on the skin.

P.S. — On lips, I wore Guerlain Rouge Sensual Rouge G Serie Noire + Chanel Insouciance Extrait de Gloss.

Shiseido PK107 Luminizing Satin Face Color

Shiseido PK 107

Shiseido PK107 Luminizing Satin Face Color ($30.00 for 0.22 oz.) is a soft, iridescent cool-toned icy pink that works best as a highlighter. The powder is so finely milled and soft that it feels like silk to touch and always natural on the skin. Whether you highlight cheekbones or dust a little for an all-over glow, it’s a great choice for those with cooler skin tones. It actually reminded me a bit of Guerlain’s famous Meteorites, because of the softness of the shimmer and the silkiness of the powder.

Welcome to Swatch-all-idays! To start 2011 off on the right foot (or post, as it may be!), Temptalia is going through a backlog of products we have photographed, swatched, and often tested but in a slightly different manner. Quick reviews may be partially incomplete, such as a blush may only be swatched on the arm rather than shown on the face. It is our hope that what we are able to provide is still helpful!

RECOMMENDATION: For cooler skin tones, this is an excellent highlighter for a subtle effect whether used on targeted places or all-over.
