MAC Love Lace Collection Review — Eyeshadows, Kohl Powers — Swatches, Photos

Today, MAC released Love Lace–a week early (it was originally slated for release on the 26th–but my freestanding store confirmed that Warm & Cozy was still launching the 26th). It’s a short ‘n sweet launch, with just two lipsticks, two lipglasses, four eyeshadows, three kohl powers, one nail lacquer, and then a few repromotes of permanent items. It reminds me a bit of last year’s Chill Collection.

I’m going to focus on reviewing the four eyeshadows and three kohl powers in this post, with a follow-up post on the lipsticks and lipglasses, and a final post on the nail lacquer–so stay tuned!

MAC Love Lace Collection Review — Light Affair Nail Lacquer — Swatches, Photos

The final product I’m reviewing from MAC’s Love Lace Collection is a new, limited edition shade of nail lacquer. Light Affair is a creamy, pale gray with a touch of lilac/purple. It’s cool-toned, and it looks quite pale against my skin tone. I really just want to call it a lilac-y gray, but it doesn’t really have that much lilac in it. It’s an interesting shade–it’s a much, much paler and lighter version of Cool Reserve from fall.

MAC Love Lace Collection Review — Lipsticks, Lipglasses — Swatches, Reviews

I’m going to focus on reviewing the lipsticks and lipglasses in this post…  Overall, I wasn’t too impressed — pretty underwhelmed with the shade range, and as “cool” as the concept is for Intricate/Utterly Discrete, neither was pigmented enough to show up well on my lips!

Free For Haul Friday, Volume #010

Welcome to Free For Haul Fridays!

A play on Oh No They Didn’t’s “Free For All Fridays,” every Friday is Free For Haul Fridays! Friday is a day for fun — whether you’re already off enjoying your weekend or if you just need a way to get through til the end of the work day, FFH is here for you!

Share your latest beauty hauls! Once you’ve done that… say anything you’d like. Recommend your favorite book or tell us what you just started reading; share a great dessert recipe or a photo of your pet (which is sure to be the cutest, yeah?).

First, I’ll share mine!

I picked up some MAC eyeshadows as a Christmas gift for my sister, but I don’t think I hauled anything myself this week… or maybe I just blocked it out!

I’m pretty excited for Christmas this year, just because I was really practical and may have had one of the more boring wish lists ever… but it’s all stuff I really want and need (OK, most everything).  I can’t wait to get me my Christmas FEAST, too!!

Now… have at it!

Spring Makeup: Light Pinks & Purples

Winter-into-Spring Blossoms with Guerlain Jeu d’Ombrelles

Happy Friday, everyone! :) This is a look using the two new, limited edition products from Guerlain’s Cherry Blossom Collection: Jeu d’Ombrelles Eyeshadow Quad and Cherry Blossom Blush.

Surprisingly, the eyeshadow quad and blush don’t go together quite as much as I thought they would–the blush is warmer than the quad, which is why they require more work to wear simultaneously.  I think I managed to get them to work together for the most part, but they didn’t go together as easily as I anticipated.

You will need the following…

For eyes, start by applying MAC Soft Ochre paint pot as your eyeshadow base all over the lid with the 249. Using the 239, apply Guerlain Jeu d’Ombrelles Eyeshadow Quad (pink) on the inner third of the eyelid. Next, apply Guerlain Jeu d’Ombrelles Eyeshadow Quad (medium purple) on the middle third of the eyelid and lightly blend with the inner corner. Darken the outer third of the lid with Guerlain Jeu d’Ombrelles Eyeshadow Quad (dark purple) with the 239, gently brushing it into the lower crease. Next, define the crease by applying Guerlain Jeu d’Ombrelles Eyeshadow Quad (dark purple) with the 226. Lightly tap and brush Guerlain Jeu d’Ombrelles Eyeshadow Quad (pink) directly above the crease to soften. To finish the eyeshadow look, sweep Guerlain Jeu d’Ombrelles Eyeshadow Quad (white) as a highlighter on the brow bone.  Bring everything together by applying Urban Decay 1999 Liner on the lower lash line, and gently tap Guerlain Jeu d’Ombrelles Eyeshadow Quad (pink) on the lower lash line with the 219.   Finish by applying Lancome Plum Tease Artliner on upper lash line with the 208, and then sweeping lashes with Chanel Exceptionnel mascara (black).

For cheeks, apply Guerlain Cherry Blossom Blush to the apples of the cheeks and sweep upwards towards the temple with the 129.

For lips, apply MAC Prive Lipstick first, and then layer MAC Preciousness Lipgloss for a glossy sheen.
