I did this look for Thanksgiving — something natural and simple, but still noticeable I did my makeup today for the first time since Thanksgiving, and it was horrible and felt SO, SO very unnatural. I was like, “Wow! Talk about rusty!” By the by, I used Too Faced’s Shadow Insurance for the look I attempted today, and my eyeshadow looked all faded and gross less than three hours later. I was quite puzzled!
Oh, and a Mellan story told in photos
You will need the following…
- Eyes: Soft Ochre paint pot (neutral beige), Ricepaper eyeshadow (neutral beige), Twinks eyeshadow (medium brown), Woodwinked eyeshadow (dark brown), Urban Decay Stash 24/7 Liner (antique gold), Blacktrack fluidline (black), Plushlash mascara (black)
- Cheeks: Dior Rose Diamond skin shimmer (soft pink)
- Lips: All Mine lipstick (medium pink), Posh Life lip gloss (pink)
- Brushes: 266 (firm, angled brush), 249 (flat, firm brush), 239 (fluffy shadow brush), 129 (dense blush brush)
- Substitutes: All Mine = Speak Louder; Posh Life = Pink Poodle
Directions: Define brows using a coordinating powder shadow applied with the 266 brush. Apply Soft Ochre paint pot all over the lid as the base with the 249. On the inner lid, apply Ricepaper eyeshadow using the 239. Apply Twinks eyeshadow to the middle of the lid. Darken the outer lid and crease using Woodwinked packed on and drag into crease using the 239. Sweep Ricepaper underneath the brow bone to highlight. Finish with Urban Decay Stash 24/7 Liner on lower lash line and Blacktrack fluidline on upper lash line, and Plushlash mascara on lashes. Sweep apples of cheeks with Rose Diamond skin shimmer using the 129. Apply All Mine lipstick to lips, and then top with Posh Life lipglass for color and shine.

How organized is your beauty stash? Is it easy for you find things when you need them or are you constantly hunting for things?
Philosophy “The Holiday” Cookbook ($35.00) features six 2 oz. bottles of Philosophy’s popular three-in-ones. Each is scented differently, but all can be used as a shampoo, shower gel, or a bubble bath. Who doesn’t appreciate a product that multi-tasks? And in my shower, a product that can do three things will definitely earn a spot to call its own! I’m a huge fan of Philosophy’s shower gels (3-in-1s, whatever!), because they lather SO, SO richly and luxuriously! I’m all about being able to work up a good lather, and any shower gel that can’t do that doesn’t past muster with me. Thankfully, Philosophy has yet to disappoint me when it comes to their formula!
You get to try six scents: Gingerbread, Cinnamon Buns, Spicy Pear, Pumpkin Spice, Red Velvet Cake, and Hot Cocoa. Philosophy does an excellent job of making their scents smell just like their namesake. I can appreciate truth in advertising! My favorites were, well, all of them to be honest. If I had to pick three, I would say Gingerbread, Pumpkin Spice (mmm, Starbucks’ Pumpkin Spice Latte anyone?), and Hot Cocoa–they’re just supremely holiday-esque scents. Get one for yourself, or one for a friend (or both!)!

Harmony is a rich royal purple shade with lots of shimmer and a lovely finish. You won’t have trouble with brush strokes with this one; it applies better than the average Romantique color does. The shade itself is a great purple–there’s no blue or pink cast to it; it’s just purple.
Admire is a cool-toned pastel pink that has such a lovely chrome-metallic finish that differentiates it from the typical pink polish.
Devotion is a bright silvery metallic shade. It’s my least favorite, because it’s not original at all. I feel like this is an easy color to find in any range. Also, since there is already a darker gray, I didn’t see this as a necessary color to round off the twelve polishes.
Since these are just swatches for color, they are far from perfect, but they should help you get the idea of what colors might interest you! Continue reading →
