I used Uppity fluidline all over lid, Creme Royale eyeshadow on inner lid, Honeylust eyeshadow on middle of lid, Velvet Lady eyeshadow on outer lid and crease, Manor eyeshadow in outer crease, Creme Royale eyeshadow above crease and on brow and on inner lower lash line, Velvet Lady eyeshadow on outer lower lash line, and Black Karat kohl power on lower lash line. I wore Other Worldly blush with Taupe blush to contour cheeks. I had Queen’s Sin lipstick with Red Romp lipglass on my lips.
Overall, the palettes offer a little something for everybody, which I think is their ultimate purpose. MAC addicts are never as impressed with Holiday as the typical makeup consumer, who is far less knowledgeable on what products have come out, and they probably don’t own half the MAC store either (!). Palettes offer consumers a chance to pick up several shadows in an organized palette for $6 an eyeshadow (you know, a good deal!), and they also make excellent gifts for those who are not so beauty-addicted. The brush sets are the same way–take MAC brushes for a test drive without breaking the bank. Brush sets are usually machine-made versus man-made, but they are still quality brushes that are perfect for budget beauty mavens as well as for holiday travel.
Zoya’s Juno (from Utopia | Winter 2007/08) is such a gorgeous royal purple-violet shade. It’s truly a standout color in its brightness, but the tone of it is absolutely divine. I love the subtle shimmer that really sets off the violet hue. Like the other Utopia polishes, this one has great consistency and color payoff. Just two quick coats and you’ll be set! $6

I actually tend to use pigments applied with water-based mixing medium as a base – I’m a total odd ball on that account!
