LIGHT UP your look with THE Illuminators, Prescriptives’ holiday 2007 Color Collection
Nothing flatters the face quite like candlelight until now. The Illuminators, an alluring collection of richly textured shades with a subtle threading of darkened gold, beautifully mimics candlelight’s feature-flattering effects for a look of quiet opulence. Eyes are dark and mysterious in shades of antiqued, tarnished, burnished or matte gold. Cheeks have a warm incandescent glow that is soft and natural. Lips are enhanced with a glossy high lacquer finish. It’s time to bask in the glow of The Illuminators.
Halloween is a little under two weeks away, which means it is definitely getting to be crunch time to have your fabulous costume in order, right? Well, what about your makeup? Halloween makeup is all sorts of fun because you can be over the top and crazy, without anyone thinking you’ve lost your mind. You really get a chance to be creative and let your inner artist come out and play.
False lashes are an amazing way to make your eyes pop and finish off flawless makeup. During the haunting season, all kinds of crazy lashes come out – you can find a good variety at your local drugstore for $4-10 a pop. Make Up Forever also makes an incredible selection of false lashes for all times of the year (pictured above), and you can find them at Sephora (www.sephora.com); they’re really quite reasonably priced for their quality and how different their lashes can be.
What do others think of your beauty/makeup love? (Okay, perhaps addiction is a better word!) Do your family or friends love it or hate it? Support it, fund it, or scoff at you?
I’m so lucky that my mom supports all of my hobbies–not financially, unfortunately (!)–but she loves that I’ve turned a passion into something productive (the blog), and she’s always bragging to people that her daughter is a blogger, actually! Now, nobody thinks I should be spending as much as I do by any means, though. I just moved back to my hometown, but none of my friends are here, so I’ve not encountered anything from that side of things. Thank god I met Karen of Makeupandbeautyblog.com, who I can gab about makeup and beauty all day and night long My boyfriend was afraid I’d turn him into a girl with all my beauty talk nonstop!
Zoya’s Austine (from Utopia | Winter 2007/08) is a very gorgeous gold with warm undertones of bronze with silver shimmer. It’s a bit metallic in appearance, which is always fun (when you tire of gunmetal gray, as lovely as it is, go opposite with this color!) for the upcoming holiday season. I found it applied quite well, minimal streaks/brushstrokes when all was said and done. $6
This color, as well as the rest of Utopia, is available at fine salons and www.zoya.com.
Laura Mercier presents this Signature Collection Book with three eyeshadows in Guava, Forest, and Margaux; three lip colors in Blossom, Pink Dawn, and Ruby, plus two cheek colors in Crushed Hazelnut and Rosedust. $45.00
Zoya puts out a most gorgeous selection of six jewel-toned shades for their Winter 2007 collection. Choose from: Akyra (bold metallic azure), Austine (soft metallic gold), Irene (truly unique metallic sage), Juno (deep metallic amethyst), Kamilah (rich gilded metallic scarlet), and Tama (bright metallic orchid pink). Zoya healthy nail colors are also free of toluene, formaldehyde, dibutyl phthalate (DBP) that are known to cause cancer and birth defects.
Keep checking Temptalia as we bring you reviews of each shade over the next few days! But let me tell you – they’re gorgeous colors, and I’m so loving that they’re all jewel-toned (I’m obsessed with this type of colors). I’ll tell you now that my favorite was Tama, with Austine running close behind. I’m also trying out Zoya’s Color-Lock system, and of course, will report the results after I’ve done a bit of wearing with it in action!
Check out all six lovely shades at www.zoya.comor at a salon near you.
