This Week’s Beauty Report: Saturday, March 13th, 2010

I personally just find it wicked awesome that Carmindy says “Temptalia readers.”

This Week’s Beauty Report: Saturday, March 13th, 2010

  • La Prairie is revolutionizing the try-before-you-buy market! Stop by your nearest La Prairie counter at Bergdorf Goodman, Bloomingdale’s, Neiman Marcus, Nordstrom, or Saks Fifth Avenue for an at-counter skincare consultation. Those who stop by for the consultation will receive complimentary essential trial samples (in deluxe tubes and jars, no packets!). This promotion begins March 15th at La Prairie counters nationwide.
  • Kim Kardashian signs with Fusion Beauty as the face of Fusion Beauty’s Colorceuticals’ LipFusion franchise and new IllumiFill Line Filling Luminizer.
  • Giorgio Armani’s Acqua di Gio is supporting UNICEF’s Tap Project by donating $1 of each purchase of Acqua di Gio fragrance sold in the U.S. Those customers who purchase the large bottle of the scent will receive a bpa-free water bottle as a token of appreciation. Additionally, for every fan who joins the Acqua di Gio Facebook page, $1 will be donated.
  • Physicians Formula is now on Twitter!
  • Voting has begun for Bobbi Brown’s Pretty Powerful contest! For every vote cast, Bobbi Brown Cosmetics will donate $1 to Dress for Success (up to $10,000), an organization close to Bobbi’s heart that provides underprivileged women with interview suits and career development advice.  Bobbi Brown launched Natural Finish Foundation this month. It’s an oil-free, long-wearing foundation designed for oil-balancing and combination skin for a soft-matte complexion. I expect to try this out soon, so keep an eye out for a review!
  • Bliss Spas are offering their Triple Oxygen Treatment Facial for just $135 (which was its original price, as compared to the normal price of $160), from March 15th through March 31st.

  • John Frieda is celebrating blondes by kicking off on March 18th in NYC at the Highline Ballroom for a private performance by Natasha Bedingfield. The concern is free for all those who sign up.

The Spring Season: Cle de Peau #106 Extra Silky Lipstick

Cle de Peau #106 Extra Silky Lipstick ($52.00 for 0.07 oz.) is a creamy softened medium blue-pink with a glossy finish and nearly imperceptible shimmer. Cle de peau’s Extra Silky Lipsticks are absolutely a dream to wear–they’re smooth, soft, creamy, and moisturizing. They don’t steal a single drop of moisture while you wear them, and despite the creaminess and slip of these lipsticks, I still get a good four hours of wear. It has a naturally glossy finish, so they’re easy to wear alone.

Of course, the downfall of Extra Silky lipsticks is their price tag. At over $50 a pop, they’re certainly a luxury lipstick that’s hard to “collect ’em all.” To make matters worse, you only get 0.07 oz. in each (which is about half of the average lipstick size). Even though they’re quite pigmented, they’re easy to over-apply, so apply less than you think to maximize your purchase!

The Spring Season is a series of posts featuring my favorite soft beige, coral, and pink lipsticks and lipglosses — all perfect for the first blossom of spring — that runs through March 2010.

Neutral Makeup: Go Away Rainy Days

Neutral Makeup:  Go Away Rainy Days

Even though it was a miserable, rainy day, I decided to warm things up with Bobbi Brown’s Bonfire Palette! :)

You will need the following…

For eyes, start by applying Soft Ochre paint pot as your eyeshadow base all over the eye area with the 249. Using the 239, apply Cafe Cream eyeshadow on the inner third of the eyelid. Next, apply Bonfire eyeshadow on the middle third of the eyelid and lightly blend with the inner corner. Darken the outer third of the lid with Cognac eyeshadow with the 239, gently brushing it into the lower crease. Lightly blend Cognac eyeshadow, with the 239, on the outer corner and lid. Lightly tap and brush Bonfire eyeshadow directly above the crease to soften. To finish the eyeshadow look, sweep Bone eyeshadow as a highlighter on the brow bone. Bring everything together by applying Gold eyeliner on the lower lash line and Bonfire eyeshadow lightly patted below the lower lash line with the 219 brush. Finish by sweeping lashes with Plushlash mascara.

For cheeks, apply Quickie blush to the apples of the cheeks and sweep upwards towards the temple with the 188.

For lips, apply Peachstock lipstick first, and then layer Double Dare cremsheen glass for a complementing lip.
