Challenge: Felines — Phuong K, Mariah, Alicia, Resha, Kali
Here are the final five looks from this month’s challenge! It’s been a really fun ride to see all of the different looks inspired by felines. Big thanks to everyone who took the time to participate–it wouldn’t have been as awesome without you! I won’t make an official announcement until mid-October, but October’s challenge will be Halloween-related. Again, more on that challenge in a couple of weeks.
Illamasqua Viridian Nail Varnish (£13.00 for 0.5 fl. oz.) is a darkened teal base with lighter teal micro-shimmer; the teal leans towards the blue side, making it a cooler-toned teal. Funny enough, when the flash fired, it pulled out more of the green in the teal, but overall, it still pulls bluer-teal.
The formula and application was just like Scarab: smooth, even, intensely pigmented–one coat would likely be enough, though I did two in the swatches.
Viridian is also new for fall, but it looks to be permanent from what I can tell.

At the Dolce&Gabbana Spring/Summer 2011 Ready to Wear show in Milan, Dolce&Gabbana evoked the relaxed elegance of Sicilian sensuality. The collection’s easy glamour was also evident in the palette used on models’ eyes and lips, each taken from Dolce&Gabbana The Make Up. (Photography by Delphine Achard and Ludovic Belmonte.)
Pat McGrath on Lip Jewels: “The mouth is such a focal point; Stefano, Domenico and I have always believed that drop dead glamour and innermost sensuality comes from an emphasis on the lips,” says Pat McGrath. “So we really worked hard to come up with the shades that were not just our favorites but every woman’s favorites. The three reds we chose are very luscious, shades I’ve worked with time and again on the runway. I’ve played with them a lot-I’ve mixed them together, used them solo-and have come up with very rich passionate looks. And Nude is so perfect for contrast or a really simple natural look… they’re all just gorgeous… overall stunning.”
