Chanel Liberte Rouge Coco Shine

Chanel Liberte Rouge Coco Shine

Chanel Rouge Coco Shine in Liberte

Chanel Liberte (44) Rouge Coco Shine ($32.00 for 0.10 oz.) looks like it’ll be a brighter coral-red from the tube, but when swatched and applied, it’s a much softer color with only a hint of coral.  It’s a very played down mix of peach and pink.  It gives semi-opaque color coverage, but it seemed a little patchy compared to some of the other Rouge Coco Shines I’ve tried.    Rouge Coco Shines are supposed to deliver softer, sheerer color, so I would not expect full color coverage with this formula (consider Rouge Cocos or Rouge Allures for more color payoff).

It’s a sheerer version of MAC Temper Tantra (a touch pinker, too), which means it’s also similar to Korres #25 Liquid Lipstick. It’s slightly less pink compared to Chanel Libertine. MAC See Sheer is a little darker.  You can compare them all side-by-side in our Swatch Gallery.

This shade also wore off in about an hour and a half; I just can’t get it to stay on for long (most lipsticks last an average of four hours on me).  Rouge Coco Shines have many balm-like qualities; they’re glide on easily and feel very emollient, but they’re not as moisturizing as a balm.  These are slightly smaller than Chanel’s other lipsticks (0.10 oz. versions 0.12 oz.), but soft formula of the Rouge Coco Shines makes these easy to over-apply.

Inglot Pearl Eyeshadows in Inglot #434, 444, 454, 451, 448, 447, 453 (Grays & Whites)

Inglot #434

Inglot Pearl Eyeshadows in Inglot #434, 444, 454, 451, 448, 447, 453 (Grays & Whites)

To wrap up our look at Inglot’s Pearl Eyeshadow ($4.50 to $7.00 each for 0.09 oz.), we have several grays and whites.  I’m not sure if there is a black eyeshadow with a pearl finish, but it could be in pot-form only or else not available online–seems hard to believe there isn’t any, though!   These were all easy to work; soft, smooth and application was seamless.  The color payoff is excellent without being excessive.  Lighter shades like #448 and 447 go on a lot lighter than they look in the pan, though.

  • 434 is a purple-gray with a pearl finish. This shade was surprisingly complex; I think it’s that mix of purple and gray and silver, which still retains depth.
  • 444 is a gray just barely kissed by brown with a pearl finish. It’s not quite taupe, but it’s almost there.
  • 454 is a bright silver with subtle brown in the background. It has a pearl finish.
  • 451 is a dark, blue-based gray with a soft silver shimmer and pearl finish.
  • 448 is a bright silver with a pearl finish that leans more metallic.
  • 447 is a bright white that has a hint of silver with a pearl finish. It seems to have a high level of frost.
  • 453 is a bright white with a pearl finish. It is similar to #447 but is a truer white, while the other seems just slightly silvered in comparison.

Inglot Pearl Eyeshadows in Inglot #405, 404, 419, 433 (Earth Tones)

Inglot #405

Inglot Pearl Eyeshadows in Inglot #405, 404, 419, 433 (Earth Tones)

Inglot’s Pearl Eyeshadow ($4.50 to $7.00 each for 0.09 oz.) were seemingly easy to organize by color, but after swatching, there were a few odd ones out that didn’t quite seem to go with traditional browns or greens.  Consequently, I give you earth tones.  I will finish up this palette with grays and whites in the next Inglot post! 🙂

I’ve come to really appreciate consistency over the years, both in a brand’s overall quality as well as what to expect from a particular product/formula.  I’m nearly finished swatching over forty shades of Inglot’s pearl eyeshadows, and there aren’t any true duds.  There are a couple that aren’t true-to-pan in color, but the quality is quite consistent within the range.  It just means that no matter what color you might buy, you can expect really soft, smooth textures with excellent color payoff–and these four shades are no exception.

  • 405 is a medium copper brown with a pearl finish, though it is slightly metallic in sheen. This seems like it would be comparable to MAC Amber Lights (perhaps not as red-based).
  • 404 is a dirtied gold with a pearl finish. It’s gold but not a true gold; there is some brown in there.  It seems comparable to MAC’s Goldmine (possibly a little darker).
  • 419 is a muted olive green with an antique gold sheen and pearl finish.
  • 433 is a lightened olive green with a stronger gold pull and pearl finish.
