Brush Storage Ideas

Taking a hint from Sephora’s bead-filled brush holders, I present the way I modified it to better fit my personal style/taste. I saw these glassy, “black pearl”-like marbles at Michael’s (the craftstore), and they just were a perfect suit for me. I do wish they were a wee bit smaller, because it would make it easier to keep all of the brushes standing upright at all times, but it’s good enough for me. Each jar required three bags of marbles, each bag costing around $3.

The circular glass jars were a nice find, too, because it’s taken me a year to find them (really!)–everything else wouldn’t be as clean/simple, or the jar would be too tall/short… just something would not be perfect. I believe the glass jars were about $3, and they fit my brushes comfortably. I’d say if you used vase filler beads or smaller beads, you could definitely fit more than the amount I have.

Overall, each brush holder’s final cost was about $22 including tax. You can see more pictures! Continue reading →

Happy Easter to those who celebrate! My family’s always celebrated Easter, though we’re not a religious family. It’s a holiday that brings us all together for a heartening meal, good conversation, and laughter. In the past, the Easter bunny would hide eggs and chocolate and candies around the house for my sister and I to find. I gotta admit, I do miss the fun of a good ol’ egg hunt! My boyfriend and I (plus Mellan, of course) are heading over to my parents’ house for lunch and dinner for our Easter plans.

What are you doing this lovely Sunday?

The BEST part about holidays is the FOOD! Yeah?

Mellan wishes YOU a happy Easter, whether he likes it or not!

Temptalia Asks You

What type of looks do you think you can’t pull off? Why?

Temptalia's Answer.

It’s hard for me to pull off really cool-toned looks, just because it’s a large contrast compared to my normal, warm-toned complexion!

Rose Quartz, Amber

Prescriptives’ Mineral Color Collection features sets for the face (cool/warm) and eyes (cool/warm), a Mineral Bronzer, and four limited edition mineral color lip glosses. I really liked the Mineral Color Lip Glosses ($17.50 each), because they reminded me a lot of MAC’s Dazzleglasses with a few noteworthy differences. Prescriptives’ Mineral Color Lip Glosses are not sticky at all, which for some of you, might be a deciding factor of why you can’t seem to get on the Dazzleglass train. Secondly, Prescriptives’ version is thinner, and I would say perhaps more pigmented, too.

The two I tried were Amber and Rose Quartz. Amber is a rich, coppery sparkle shimmer gloss. I know in the still photo it looks a little off, because it seems flat and just like copper glitter. I will say, like dazzleglasses, you have to see it in real life to appreciate the glittering effects. It just doesn’t capture quite right in still photography!

Rose Quartz is a sheer, milky pastel pink with lots of glitter and sparkle. It reminded me a bit of Baby Sparks from MAC, though perhaps not quite as milky. I’m eager to check out the other two, Amethyst and Sunstone, to see how those compare–both look like they’ll be more along the lines of Amber (aka pigmented), so I can’t wait to swatch!
