Thierry Mugler Feeling Rouge Unique Lipstick

Thierry Mugler Feeling Rouge Unique Lipstick

Thierry Mugler Rouge Unique Lipstick

Thierry Mugler Feeling Rouge Unique Lipstick ($28.00 for 0.12 oz.) is described as a “fruity pink with light transparency.” It’s more than just plain ol’ pink. At first glance, this seemed like a color that would be easy to describe, but I found it more difficult when I went to do so! It’s a lightened coral-pink-red with gold and pink micro-shimmer and a semi-frosted sheen. It almost looks coral, but then it seems dominated by pink, and then it’s darker than just pink. The color coverage is semi-opaque, and the color deposited fairly evenly across the lips without much effort.

Feeling wore four and half hours on me, but unlike Dream, it did not leave behind a stain (which is fine, but just worth noting). The formula on this was creamy but had less slip compared to Dream (which also had a glossier finish and more translucence in the overall color). This shade was moisturizing, though, and I didn’t detect any scent or taste. The creaminess of the formula still allowed for easy application.

Bobbi Brown Raspberry Pink is a little redder but similar. Chanel Taffeta Rose and Elizabeth Arden Tulip are similar but brighter. MAC Naughty You is somewhat similar in base color but the lack of oapcity and glitter makes them look rather different.

It’s packaged in a slim metal tube that’s shiny, so while it does hold fingerprints, the reflective surface makes it harder to see them unless you look closely. The lipstick itself is shaped like a faceted jewel, which is fun to look at, but it doesn’t affect application in any way. It has enough heft that it doesn’t feel cheap, but it’s still lightweight overall and travel-friendly.

MAC Eyeshadow Swatches – Neutrals (Part 1)

MAC Honesty Eyeshadow

MAC Eyeshadow Swatches – Neutrals (Part 1)

  • Back with more MAC Eyeshadows–almost through the permanent shades I have–and this set features neutrals, including browns as well as beiges.
  • Honesty is a soft coppered brown with chunky gold and copper glitter. It has a lustre finish. It’s not the chunkiest lustre I’ve come across, but it doesn’t make my list of must-haves. Urban Decay Blaze would be a good alternative.
  • Patina is grayish-brown (almost taupe) with a pale, golden sheen. It has a frost finish.
  • Wedge is a warm-toned, medium brown with a matte finish. It is warmer and brown compared to MAC Omega but softer than MAC Cork.
  • Soba is a yellow-ed brown with a subtle golden sheen and satin finish. It’s yellower than Wedge, and the finishes are different, but they are similar.
  • Era is a darkened beige with a champagne sheen. It has a satin finish. It is lighter (and shimmery) than Burberry Almond.
  • Malt is a pinked brown-beige with a matte finish. It’s a bit powdery. Inglot #344 is similar.
  • All That Glitters is a lightened copper-gold with a veluxe pearl finish. The texture is rather gritty for a veluxe pearl.  Urban Decay Blaze is similar.
  • Bisque is a soft beige with a matte finish. Inglot #390 is similar.
  • Brule is a soft, warm beige with a satin finish.
  • Blanc Type is a pale white-beige with a Matte2 finish. Inglot #355 is similar but may turn more peach on some complexions.

Eyeshadows like Honesty and All That Glitters–tend to have chunkier textures with glitter fall out.  I will buy a new All That Glitters, even though mine was brand new as of a month ago, since many of you say I have a bad batch, but please give me some time to do so. Shades like Bisque, Brule, and Blanc Type are very light, and I know that on me Blanc Type photographs ashy (on me) when I’ve used it as a highlighter. Patina is a fun shade, because it’s almost like a neutral duochrome, and I couldn’t think of a real dupe for it.

Laura Mercier Pine Bronze Sateen Eye Colour

Laura Mercier Pine Bronze Sateen Eye Colour

Laura Mercier Pine Bronze Sateen Eye Colour

Laura Mercier Pine Bronze Sateen Eye Colour ($22.00 for 0.09 oz.) is described as a “smoky green with bronze shimmer.” The Sateen formula is designed to be a “lightweight eyeshadow with a creamy powder texture” with “intense, luminous color” that has “superior blending” and “long-wearing, crease-resistant application.”

It’s an olive green with subtle, pale gold shimmer strewn through it, but it has more of a satin sheen than it is shimmery. The level of pigmentation is very nice–smooth, mostly even color that is opaque with little need to build the color to get there. Like Cedar, it wears best over a primer, but the product claims long-lasting wear without mention of a primer. It wears for about seven hours before I start noticing subtle creasing but more noticeable fading.

Inglot #419 is a frosted, metallic variation of this color, but because of those two characteristics, I would not call them dupes at all. The color is more like Urban Decay Urb, but Urb lacks pigmentation and has texture issues. It is very similar to Burberry Khaki.

Laura Mercier Canyon Sunset Cheek Melange

Laura Mercier Canyon Sunset Cheek Melange

Laura Mercier Canyon Sunset Cheek Melange

Laura Mercier Canyon Sunset Cheek Melange ($40.00 for 0.22 oz.) is supposed to add a warm glow to the face “with sunset-inspired hues.” It’s a new product for fall, and it is limited edition.

There are three shades (a peony pink, ruddy brown, and peach) that come together to create a muted, browned pink with a satin sheen. In the photos, you’ll notice gold shimmer, but it’s an overspray, and much of the shimmer disappears after the first use. The product is not nearly as shimmery as it looks initially.

The texture is soft to the touch, and the powders smooths out evenly across the skin, which makes application easier. It has good color payoff from the get-go, but it can be layered for a slightly more intense look. While the silky texture is soft, the product sits on the skin well, so it doesn’t blend away too easily, and it wore for eight hours on me before beginning to fade.
