MAC Prep + Prime Highlighters Preview Swatches

MAC Prep + Prime Highlighters

MAC Prep + Prime Highlighters ($23.00 for 0.12 fl. oz.) is a new and permanent product that will release in-stores on April 7th. There are three shades: Bright Forecast (mid-tone peachy coral), Light Boost (soft yellow cream), and Radiant Rose (light shell pink). They come in a twist-up, pen-type applicator. These highlighters are designed to provide a “sheer wash of color to highlight, brighten, and perfect.” Since it is a new product, I can’t review it without actually testing it — so I ask for your patience while I spend the next day or two testing out the wear.  Please hold all questions until I’ve had a chance to actually test these out!

MAC Sakura Mineralize Blush

MAC Sakura Mineralize Blush ($23.00 for 0.14 oz.) is a new and limited edition shade from MAC’s Quite Cute collection, due in-stores on April 7th. MAC describes this shade as “lavender with pearly magenta heart.” The outer edge is a pinked lavender with a pearled finish, while the heart is a darker pink, not quite magenta, and more of a frost finish. When swirled together, it creates a muted, medium-dark magenta pink with a soft frost finish and cool undertones.

It has the same texture issues as Miss Behave–powdery and sheers out too quickly. It is effortless to blend, but the problem I experienced while applying was it seemed to disappear during the blending process, and I would have to go back and reapply. I think it’s the powderiness of the texture that contributes to this problem, because the color doesn’t stay bound together and thus disappears.

P.S. — No, I wouldn’t normally pair it with those lips, but it was what I had on for swatches – I hope you understand.

MAC Quite Cute Lip Pencils Swatches, Photos, Reviews

MAC Quite Cute Lip Pencils

MAC Quite Cute Lip Pencils ($13.00 for 0.05 oz.) include three permanent shades from the upcoming collection, which launches in-stores on April 7th. All three shades are actually repromotes from Too Fabulous. The shades are: Boldly Bare (dirty red brown), In Synch (bright yellow pink), and Naked (light neutral).

They’re comfortable enough to be worn alone or as actual lip liner, depending on your needs. With their matte finishes, these hold onto lips well and last six to eight hours. All three shades were nicely pigmented and applied smoothly without skipping.

MAC Miss Behave Mineralize Blush Swatches, Photos, Review

MAC Miss Behave Mineralize Blush

MAC Miss Behave Mineralize Blush ($23.00 for 0.14 oz.) is new and limited edition shade from MAC’s Quite Cute collection, which launches in-stores on April 7th. It is one of three shades (the others being Giggly and Sakura). MAC describes it as “light beige with pearly mint green heart.”

I actually felt like the pale, mint green heart ruined what could have been a very pretty peach with a hint of beige. The outer color is a light-medium peach with a satin finish, while the pale green heart has a frosted finish. When mixed, the result is a very semi-sheer, pale beige. On my medium skin tone, the color amounts to more of a highlighter than a blush.

The texture was also powdery, and the blush itself seemed to sheer out with little effort–which can be troublesome when the product is already a lighter color. After I applied it, I did feel like it had a powdery look to it, so I spritzed water to help minimize the effect. Surprisingly, the Quite Cute mineralize blushes contain 0.14 oz. worth of product, while regular mineralize blushes only have 0.11 oz. — and there is only a dollar difference ($23 vs. $22).

MAC Cutie Eyeshadow Quad Swatches, Photos, Review

MAC Cutie Eyeshadow Quad

MAC Cutie Eyeshadow Quad ($36.00 for 0.21 oz.) is new and limited edition from MAC’s Quite Cute collection, which launches in-stores on April 7th. It includes four eyeshadows: Moshi Moshi! (pale white green gold), Goody Goody Gum Drop (light white pink), Boycrazy (pale lavender with silver pearl), and Azuki Bean (mid-tone dirty violet).

I’m not particularly impressed with the eyeshadow quad. I don’t mind lighter colors, and I wouldn’t expect a pale green to become a deep green, but I do take issue with excessive fall out (I’m looking at you, Moshi Moshi!) and having to scrape off eyeshadow to get it to show (ahem! Boycrazy). Two of the four were nice, while one was awful and another was nearly awful. In an instance like this, I try to average everything out.
