Pearlescent Pink

Wet ‘n’ Wild Pearlescent Pink Color Icon Blush ($2.99 for 0.20 oz.) is a brighter, medium pink-coral with a golden shimmer. After blending out the powder, the finish was more of a satin sheen.

The brand says that it’s supposed to be a “buildable, blendable powder” with “long-lasting color.” The consistency was slightly drier with moderate amounts of excess powder that kicked up in the pan, but I had no trouble blending and diffusing the edges of the blush on my skin, and I did not feel like it looked dry applied. It had semi-opaque, buildable pigmentation that lasted for seven hours on me.

Best Blush (Formula) | Share Your Recommendations

Anastasia Blush Trios
Anastasia Blush Trios

Welcome to the new and improved weekly call for recommendations! 🙂 The post has been labeled as “The Hit List” since its inception, and we have had 456 posts since I first started posting them in 2008. There’s a topic that asks for the best product, and then readers have left their answers as a comment, often including information like skin tone or skin type. It can be hard to see if there’s any kind of consensus, and not everyone remembers to share info about themselves that might be relevant. I wanted to take the power of our community, which is so knowledgeable and helpful, and make it easier to browse and refine those recommendations within each post but also on a more permanent basis. For the next week, we’ll be having a daily topic calling for recommendations to get the system building, but then we’ll go back to weekly posts!

The process is very similar to nominating a product in our Readers’ Choice Awards. If you’re logged in, we’ll pre-fill out any fields like skin tone, undertone, etc. with what you have saved in your profile. If you aren’t registered, you’ll have to manually select for any required fields. You can submit multiple recommendations at once, or you can put in a few and share more recs later on. If you see a product you’d also like to recommend, you can easily click “Recommend This,” and we’ll add it to your recommendation form to start.

You can browse recommended products on our Makeup Recommendations page, which can be found under “Favorites.” It works similarly to the Swatch Gallery, where you can find recommendations by product characteristics (e.g. coral, powder blush, matte) and/or by personal characteristics (e.g. tan skin with yellow undertones, oily skin type) to see the most recommended products by someone with those characteristics. Since we are just starting, there aren’t going to be a ton of recommendations yet, so you might not want to refine by so many parameters quite yet but my greatest hope is that it won’t take long before there are lots of highly recommended products!

10 Most Recommended Blushes

We’ve highlighted the ten most recommended blush formulas below, and the list will automatically update as recommendations are made! You can view all recommendations here, where you can also refine the results by things like price, skin type, skin tone, etc.  Don’t forget to share your own recommendations! Thank you for taking the time to add your recommendations to our database! 🙂

Saint No Angel

MAC Saint No Angel Look in a Box Lip Kit ($26.50 for 0.28 oz.) includes travel-sized lipsticks and lipglosses (two of each) in shades of peach/mauve–I liked that the set was more two duos in a box. In the past, MAC has released lip kits that featured full-sized products at a higher price tag, and I’m digging the travel-sized shades with the more palatable $26.50 price tag. Each Lipstick is 0.06 oz. (full-sized is 0.10 oz.) and each Lipglass is 0.08 fl. oz. (full-sized is 0.10 fl. oz.), which puts the value of the set at $47.60: $20.40 worth of lipstick and $27.20 worth of lipgloss.

Hourglass Confession Ultra Slim High Intensity Lipstick ($34.00 for 0.03 oz.) is new formula that is available in 32 shades (two are exclusive to Hourglass’ website and are not pictured below). The lipsticks are available with packaging for $34 (includes the shade you purchase, it’s not an empty tube!) or as refills for $22. The refill packaging is sufficient for standalone use, as it has a cap that clicks back into place and has its own base that allows you to twist it up.

Worth noting, 0.03 oz. is one of the smallest lipstick sizes I’ve come across (even slim lipsticks are typically 0.07 oz., whereas more standard tubes contain 0.10 oz. or 0.12 oz.), and by the ounce, it ended up being one of the most expensive lipsticks on the market (I’ll have more specific comparisons in my first review).
