Pat McGrath Omi MatteTrance Lipsticks ($38.00 for 0.14 oz.) is a muted, medium-dark pink with more neutral undertones and a cream finish. There was a noticeable shine to this one (more so than most shades) that lingered for a full two hours, though a light blotting would take it down immediately. It was so pigmented that blotting would not impact the full coverage results at all. The texture was lightly creamy (after about a second on the lips) and thicker, which helped to cover the lips smoothly and minimize the appearance of my natural texture. It wore well for four and a half hours and was neither drying nor hydrating.

The formula is supposed to be “richly pigmented” with “”supreme hydration” and “opulent matte opacity.” It’s a denser, firmer formula that takes a second to warm up against the lips, so the very first pull of the lipstick on the lips tugs slightly but then maneuvers smoothly across the lips without skipping or dragging. The lipstick was thicker on the lips, which ensured richer coverage and helped smooth out the texture of my lips but was less forgiving along the edges. For some of the deeper shades, I would recommend using a lip pencil or a lip brush to ensure crisper lines. For an hour or two, the majority of the shades had more of a satin finish that became more matte as the shine wore down. The wear was between four to eight hours and none felt hydrating over time for me; a few were non-drying while others were noticeably drying. There was no discernible scent or taste to the formula.

Unzipped Ocean Sunset

LORAC Unzipped Ocean Sunset Eyeshadow Palette ($42.00 for 0.58 oz.) includes ten shades in hues of warm neutrals and a few pops of color. There were some nice shades in the palette but some duds, so it was a real mixed bag, which makes it hard to feel strongly either way.

If you’re someone who normally wears primer, I think it might be worth checking out if the colors appeal, but the formula seemed more prone to fading (both initially, almost as it “melted” on the lids as well as during wear). From my experience with LORAC’s formulas, the one in the Unzipped Sunset series seemed more like a hybrid between their Pro and Unzipped formula, as the Sunset palettes did not seem to have the same denseness (particularly in the shimmers) as the permanent Unzipped palettes. The mattes, however, were more substantial (less thin) compared to the Pro formula, which also meant less powderiness/sheering out during application.

Demi-Glace

Bite Beauty Demi-Glace Amuse Bouche Liquified Lipstick ($24.00 for 0.25 fl. oz.) is a subdued, medium-dark plummy brown with subtle, warm undertones and a glossy, cream finish. The consistency was smooth, lightweight, and easily spread across the lips for even, opaque coverage. There was a smidgen of color that pulled into my deeper lip lines but the shinier finish helped minimize how noticeable that was. The lip color stayed on well for five hours and was moisturizing over time.

The Amuse Bouche Liquified Lipstick is supposed to be “moisture-rich, high-pigment” in a “liquified” consistency that has a “creamy, comfortable application.” It’s a lightweight, fluid consistency that was neither runny nor thick on the lips. It does not dry down and feels mostly like a liquid-form of a lipstick (and not so much like a gloss). The majority of the range was incredibly pigmented and spread evenly across the lips. Some shades had a bit of color that sat in my lip lines, which was noticeable from a normal viewing distance with a few but not all. It had a lightly tacky feel on the lips, which helped to adhere as none of the shades I have tested have feathered on me. The formula was lightly hydrating, wore for four to seven hours, and had a light, herbal, lemony scent but no discernible taste.

If you’ve been following Bite for awhile, you might remember the Cashmere Lip Creams from a few years ago, which were also a liquid formula. Unfortunately, I had a couple leak on me and ended up tossing all of them out of fear, so I couldn’t do a true comparison, but from my memory, it was slightly thicker and less tacky while both had a more natural shine after initial application.
