NYX I Dream of St. Lucia Eyeshadow Palette Review, Photos, Swatches

NYX I Dream of St. Lucia Eyeshadow Palette

Budget Friendly Beauty:  NYX I Dream of St. Lucia Palette

NYX I Dream of St. Lucia Eyeshadow Palette ($8.75 for 0.28 oz.) is a tropical-themed palette with all of the fun, bright shades of the beach. It has a medium grassy green with a semi-matte finish, medium sky blue with a satiny feel, sunny, paled yellow with a frost finish, pop of bubblegum pink with blue undertones and a satin finish, and bright orange with a satin finish.

I love NYX as a brand that provides higher quality products at a very budget-friendly cost. I find NYX eyeshadows to be good but not great–they tend to be a little powdery and fade a bit on the lid. The powderiness can lead to a modest bit of fall out, though a small price to pay to keep within your budget! What’s great about this palette in particular is that I don’t have shades quite like these in some of my higher end brands, so it’s a nice way to complement and supplement my high-end collection, too.

All five shades were pigmented, though the green and blue shades easily faded if you overblended. The yellow and the orange had the best pigmentation, both vibrant with little product, and the yellow shade didn’t fade or sheer out at all (owes to the frost finish, I’d say).

Overall, it’s an excellent palette with good eyeshadows at an even better price. One thing I’d like to see is a reference guide as to what shades the palette actually contains – I couldn’t track down a list of what each was called. I only know that the palette contains some of the original, best selling NYX eyeshadows, but I’d like to know exactly which ones — NYX has so many, and it’s difficult to tell online!

RECOMMENDATION: If you’re on a strict budget or you don’t want to shell  out $15-20 per eyeshadow to get your bright eyeshadow fix, NYX has you covered with their I Dream of St. Lucia palette.  Five brights for under $10–quite the steal.

Thank you for the swatches Christina..! :) <3

I love NYX but i cannot get my hands on it anywhere except online. I can access LA Colors and their 5 Metallic Color palette is similiar but all have a metallic finish but i find the LA Colors has more pigmentation and more vivid so if you cant get your hands on this & want to have some fun colors to play around with- its a great alternative!

I've never seen NYX in Superstore in Canada and I shop there quite often. The only places I've seen NYX are Price Smart and some Pharmasaves. Superstore does carry some spectacular Joe Fresh eye shadows, though. They're very pigmented, easy to apply and blend, and don't crease on me at all. They also have many beautiful shades available. I believe they're 3 for $10, as are the Joe Fresh nail polishes which are some of the best nail polishes I've ever tried. The shades available and their opacity is amazing. I can get away with applying just one coat when I'm in a rush. They dry fast and it's impossible to see my nails through even that one coat.

Like all the shades in the palette, so bright and vibrant!

Very pretty. I can see these on very good very clear very young skins. It would look awesome.

I've never tried the pressed shadows by NYX but I have a boatload of the chrome shadows loose shadows (bought in on the Bundle of Love sales) and I really love them. They're not my favorite, but for about a dollar a shade (during the sale), it was hard to pass up. NYX is definitely one of the better budget brands, for sure. Thanks for the swatches!

Thank you very much for the "multiple-skintone" swatch!

I like how fun and vibrant these shades are.

For some reason it seems as though the NYX PR only sends you their so-so products. If you want the really good stuff, you should try their single eyeshadows (MUCH MUCH better than their trios/palettes), blush, mega shine lipglosses (especially Beige, Natural, Smokey Look, Tea Rose), and round lipsticks (Tea Rose, Doll, Electra, etc... non-frosty and non-nude are the best quality). *shhh* Don't tell anyone but I actually use my NYX products more than my Mac ones...

I actually find their single eyeshadows just like these ones - a little powdery, pretty pigmented, but some powder fall out and some sheering/fading issues when used on lids!

That orange is pretty intense but really beautiful! And that yellow is what I hoped MAC Dreammaker would be without the flakiness! Unfortunately that orange is the only colour that I already don't have a similar dupe for. For those Canadians out there, NYX is available in Save On Foods and Superstore.

thanks! i was just wondering how i could get my hands on nyx products!

NYX is also sold at Rexall in Canada

Have you done any reviews on quatuor boutons de chanel?

Nope, I haven't seen it.

Nice nude colors but not so pigmented. =(

I love this palette! Fantastic colors and great fun for spring/summer :) I don't know if anyone has heard of the LA Colors 5 Eyeshadow Palette in Tease, but it's basically the same colors in a different order (it is also cheaper). But the NYX is WAY better than the LA Colors version, which is saying quite a lot as Tease palette is fantastic for a brand that cheap!

Will these NYX eyeshadow palettes be available at Sephora or Ulta anytime soon? Or is it only available online?

I'm not very familiar with Ulta, but I know NYX isn't carried at Sephora.

Yeah ulta is like a "paired" down sephora(in the number of items and brands carried that is). I think ulta is more native to the midwest, I love that store as well as sephora. yes they do carry nyx and im sure will get the this and more palettes in.

Ulta carries NYX, so they will likely have it

I love this. I just went and ordered one. These colors are so much fun/pretty. I already have in mind the looks I want to do for summer. Just as a note, I'm NW35 so these work with my skin tone. Good price and I agree, I think NYX eyeshadow quality is good to very good.

Ooh, thanks for the swatches in different skin tones ! & they are really lovely bright summery colours :)

I agree! A great idea, Temptalia!

I love the colors. Are the different skin tones different people's hands?
